The Quality Inn West Harvest is not a cheap hotel it's affordable!
From OpenTable: Located in the heart of the Warehouse District in downtown Edmonton, the Blue Plate Diner is open for lunch, dinner and also for brunch on weekends. We only serve real food made by real people.Do you own Blue Plate Diner? Contact us to connect with your diners.
I was in Edmonton with three girlfriends on a girls' weekend. We stopped by for brunch and didn't have to wait long for service and a table, even with the market litterally just outside.
The food was good, the service was friendly, the decore was just the right mix of clutter and chic.
Food was tasty, cool atmosphere, interesting menu. A bit pricey, bet decent value.
Never had a bad meal here. Atmosphere is good, but it's too loud for a business lunch.
Expensive for the quality. High chef turnover results in lower quality. Service staff are friendly and do not over or under visit your table.
Refreshing to be in a place that is NOT a big box franchise. We need more of this in Edm. Had the veggie burger, very good - one of the best I have had and the sweet potato fries are great! Sure it is loud at times, but that's part of the character and experience. Great decor and setting. Friendly staff! I will be back.
Coffee sucks. The manager is super snotty. Waitresses are super nice though.
I've never had anything but an incredible time here. The servers are all very friendly and kind, the ambient mood is lovely and comfortable with a casual air. I've never had wait times or volume problems like other people are saying, I tend to go around 4-5 PM, which seems to be perfect for an early dinner. Food is always wonderful, as well. Definitely a recommend!
Been there several times, last three times we've went however the food has been dry and the orders have been wrong. When confronted the sever and manager simply shrugged it off and said "well, it's human error, it happens" to our party. Will not be going back. Bad food, unfortunate attitudes...all together bad experience. This has occurred three times in a row (please note, all three times have... more
I LOVE this place. The food is amazing and the service is great!
Really tasty, well cooked and great atmosphere. Great place to eat.
Meh, I'm always a bit underwhelmed when I go to Blue Plate Diner. They have a pretty good veggie burger, but it's really expensive and comes with lousy fries
This is a good restaurant for lunch. It is higher priced and when full is very noisy. Service is spotty. Their menu is basic comfort food. I often have to ask for tabasco. It takes a bit of patience to go here if you only have an hour for lunch. Make reservations!
The brunches are fabulous, the atmosphere is fantastic, very relaxed vibe. Great creative menu. The pemican burger is also fabulous.
I've never had a bad time at Blue Plate. Excellent servers with personable waiters, great dinners and my favourite brunch in town. Try to the pemican burger — it's a wonder. And I love the quirky decor, vibrant art and brick walls.
We'd love to love this place, but their inattention to client feedback, and their exorbitant wine prices make this a poor choice. Eat somewhere else.
Interestingly arranged meals! Delicious as well! The service was great too!
pretty blah, menu never changes. better local/ vegetarian friendly restaurants.
The brunches are spectacularly good. They're the kind of breakfasts that you will never get at any breakfast chain, such as Denny's or Alberts - the eggs are free range and local the bacon doesn't look like it's been sitting out all day (OMG real bacon!) they give you all the options you could want on your toast and the grilled corn bread is amazing. Another real big win are the special Friday... more
Just a really fantastic veggie burger, yam fries and caesar salad. Can't go wrong.
Great vegetarian and vegan selection! Well priced and great service!
I travel throughout North American regularly; and have dined at some very tasty establishments. The Blue Plate Diner easily tops anything I have had prior. The decor and atmosphere are wonderful; however the varied menu provides the oomf - as all good restuarants should. This is not a scene restuarant, you will not find better food in Edmonton (or possibly North America). I sampled the hummus &... more
Great food, nice decor. It gets pretty loud when the place is busy.
The Blue Plate is one of my favorite downtown spots for lunch. Although the daily special often sounds tempting, I'm drawn back again and again for the mac & cheese, which is consistently excellent, pefectly cooked and all the things a good mac & cheese should be - creamy, cheesy and oh so good. The menu at Blue Plate isn't huge, but there is enough variety to appeal to anyone, with some... more
I love. Great food and relaxed atmosphere. Staff is friendly and real caring without being too solicitous.
As always we have good food, good wine, and a nice time at Blue Plate Diner. We recommend to others all the time.
Ive been to Blue Plate for lunch, dinner was just OK. I had the salmon which was overcooked and flavourless, but the mashed tatties were delicious! Service was decent, drinks were a little slow, but overall everyone enjoyed themselves.
Coffee was very weak !! The noise level was so high that we could not carry on a conversation.Would not return.
I have been there only 3 times. Food is always good and quick. Service is great. I like coming there for business lunch because of this. It is a bit loud to have a conversation.
Great food, great value!! Large portions and very tasty. Meat loaf, salmom and caesar-custed salmon were all done to perfection. Will go back for sure!!
We enjoyed the different menu items offered by the Blue Plate. Something different than standard lunch fare in the area. Service was quick which is always appreciated when it's lunch out on a busy work day.
Excellent options for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans. Amazing food!!
Although I generally enjoy the menu at the Blue Plate Diner, one too many horrible experience with the service staff has moved this restaurant to the "avoid at all cost" category for me. During my latest dining experience I was yelled at by the hostess for sitting at "the wrong table" (after having been shown to that table by another... more
I have to admit that I have never been here for dinner, but I have been here for both lunch and brunch on multiple occasions. While lunch was excellent, Sunday brunch left something to be desired. My potatoes were undercooked (quite hard) and cold, and the overall meal was very salty and flavorless otherwise. I would recommend the Blue Plate... more
We had brunch here. It is a lovely place with a real retro feel. The food was excellent. The prices are on the high side but that is Edmonton.
The decor is eclectic and wonderful, the service is friendly and the brunch is excellent. They don't pretend to be haute cuisine and do a great job with what they do, and they'll offer up good wines and beer with your supper. It's a great place to sit with a cappucino and a paper in the afternoons after the lunch... more
While the restaurant has a nice ambiance, the food leaves a lot to be desired. The meatloaf was the absolute worst I have ever had and a friend's tandoori chicken was undercooked. Drinks were good and service was OK, but be prepared to flag your server down to get attention. Bottom line: there are much better places to eat in... more
Eaten here twice in the last 2 months and can't really complain about anything. Had a romantic anniversary dinner with my DW the first time. She ordered 1 of the specials which happened to be vegetarian that I didn't think sounded all that appealing but turned out to be fantastic. The presentation was also very well done. I had the... more
Great food... lots of vegetarian and Indian dishes. Service was friendly, but slow.
Took a large group to this small restaurant which was very close to our hotel. Was a really great surprise as none of us had eaten there before. There was something on the menu to please everyone and the food was great. Friendly prompt service, could not ask for much more.
The lunch prices (as opposed to dinner prices) are a bit of a better value, I go there for the pemmican burger which is bison with dried blueberries and sage and it is very very good. Breakfast isn't my favorite of menus. Their sweet potato fries... though...very worth it, pop by sometime for a bowl of them at lunch it's... more
went for dinner, beautiful decor but highly limited menu that caters mostly to vegans, slow service, overly small and diluted drinks, unremarkable food for the price..wont go again, wont recommend it
Went there late Sunday for brunch ( til 2 ) with 3 other adults & 2 kids under 10yrs old. Exposed brick walls, creative art & 70s tables/decor create this casual, relaxing diner atmosphere. ... some of the mismatched mugs/tables looked like our grandpa's old stuff! Kids were happy coloring and even enjoyed the "real" apple juice & ate most... more
The food here is fairly creative and tasty, and offers some interesting choices. The last time I had a meal there, I ordered the salmon with spicy tomato chickpea sauce, rice and grilled veggies coming in at $18. The salmon was prepared excellently, cooked just to flaking so that the fish remained moist and tender. The veggies were nicely grilled and were tender crisp and not overly seasoned... more
This place has so much charm and great service, but the food is brutal and somewhat expensive for what you get. I really wanted to love the place, because of it's charm and vibe, but after giving it 3 visits I will simply not return.
Tasty specials change a lot, food is fresh, have had slow service and the paintings on the walls change often so its always a new place.
Tasty brunch on Saturday until 1 PM. Funky atmosphere. Very busy..Want to try dining there for dinner sometime.
sometimes it's a 4, sometimes it's a 1. It seems to be pretty random as to what you get so I won't be back.
I am beginning to understand that if I order a glass of wine to accompany lunch in Edmonton, eventually, someone will call social services and relieve me of the custody of my children.
Lunch on Friday at the Blue Plate Diner had promise: the diner is funky, in an interesting neighbourhood close to the new Urban Fresh market, the menu is blessedly limited, and the waiter appeared promptly. ...

Excellent food, somewhat funky atmosphere
Really good restaurant and not expensive. I'l definitely go back
I have yet to have a bad meal here. The food is delicious and flavourful. It's perfect for lunch and dinner. I also heard there breakfast is pretty good too.
The ambiance of the blue plate is awesome, love the art, the decor, just a very comfortable place to be. The wait staff were also very friendly and helpful. The food was good, although we found some of the entrees to be somewhat overpriced. Although I might not be back for awhile for dinner, we definately plan to come back... more
Unique, warm & eclectic atmosphere. Veg-friendly.
Very good breakfast but very busy.
Funky atmosphere. A lot of vegetarian selections.
love the atmosphere, old school food...great taste
good food and relaxing atmosphere good lunch location
Food tasted very fresh. Brunch -Florentine benny - perfectly poached eggs.
Okay for vegetarians, but a bit too granola inclined for beef fans.
Really good food, the bison steak, perfectly cooked. ($40 drink, starter, entry)
Yummy Aprikat beer!!! MM! Very Cozy/Homey!!
great vegetarian fare and burgers... and actually there whole menu is just as good as mom's
My favourite place for breakfast! The fruit and cornbread was unbelievable - nothing under- or over-ripe.
Close to work and I like me some sweet potato fries.
comfort food that surprises.
I have been to the Blue Plate Diner on a regular basis over the last few years, mostly because of its close proximity to where I live and work. I have to finally admit to myself that it is not worth even the minimal effort of a 3 block walk. The service is inconsistent- brunch service (if you sit in the right section) is great, but the service at lunch and in the evening can be dreadful.
I love the decor of the Blue Plate Diner, art work, music ect. I feel very comfortable and welcome there. The decor makes you feel relaxed. I found the service very shoddy. I was very supprised to see that the menu had not changed much in three years. The place was not busy but it seemed to take forever to get our food. When the food finaly came out it was luke warm, we were too hungry to send... more
Nice vegetarian selections - has gotten a little price inflated however.
Excellent for Saturday morning brunch
Nice location, good diner food, nice atmosphere
Once the initial charm wears off, the food persists as being really good.
Liked the funky decor and food was pretty good. A little too loud and crowded for my liking, though... more
Good home cooking with an upscale twist. Favorites are the Mac & Cheese and the Meatloaf. They also have wonderful special dinners for holidays - if you are going to be home for the holidays, check them out!
Pretty Good Food. The Decor is Fab.
I love the eclectic design of this place, what with the mismatched chairs and dishware. The food is really healthy and unique. The sweet potato fries are great.
I had the worst service ever here. Took 3 hours from appetizer to dessert. Not our fault either. Bad service. Food was good though
Great for Bruch and great veg burger!
I love the food and the people and the dishes and the lighting and... more
small servings, french fries on the coolish side, not sufficient value for the price
We went for Sunday brunch and were very impressed with everything at this trendy, retro, cozy little diner. It was busy (always a good sign), but the wait was under 10 minutes for a table. The decor is fantastic, I love the mis-matching coffee mugs from the 1970's and the tables and chairs that don't match. Art work (I assume local) decorates the walls, and each table has a different lamp on... more
I love the art for sale on the walls, and the retro decor is fabulous! I love the mismatched dishes and cutlery, it’s so endearing. The Ranch Eggs are the best for brunch!
The Mac and Cheese is so good here…
Great original dishes. Cool retro/mix-match decor with unique lighting.Don’t miss the stuffed pepper entree, the carrot cake, sweet potato fries.
Open for breakfast, lunch, & dinner 7 days a week.
Pease send someone to try it out. We're buying!!
Blue Plate Diner is a Casual dining, Comfort Food, and Lunch restaurant where most Menuism users came for fun with friends, paid between $25 and $50, and tipped between 15% to 18%.
Blue Plate offers gourmet comfort food in a hip, funky setting with exposed brick walls and colorful local artwork. What to order? Standout brunch choices include Ranch Eggs (poached eggs, potatoes, beans, cheese and rancho sauce on corn tortillas, topped with guacamole and sour cream), the house blend granola, and maple-glazed grilled cornbread. Later in the day, you'll still face a tough... more
