Living downtown I can't justify car ownership and take cabs regularly. I usually try to call a cab instead of getting one off the street, so I can be sure I get my preferred company - Black Top!

It's annoying when called and you are put on hold or called and the line is busy. If you are going to a party and your taxi gets reimburse and everyone is taking the same taxi this is a nightmare. Great service and polite drivers. Left my wallet in a cab one night and within a couple days I got an email from Black Top saying the cab driver had turned it in to Lost and Found. I picked it up and all my cash was still in the wallet. I will only use this cab company from now on.

These guys are efficient! But their drivers seem to be a bit serious. Not the chatty type but perfect if you prefer silence.

We called Yellow Cabs to get more rice home, and HOWEVER, Yellow Cabs took TOO LONG to answer.
We tried calling Black Top Cabs. They took long but actually answered, and only took about 20 minutes. The cab driver said that Black Top was better.

Just had to explain to the taxi driver where I needed to go. Said he didn't know where it was so I tried explaining it to him. Finally found it on my phone and he still said he didn't know. I said I was in a rush and going to grab another cab he locked the door and wouldn't let me out and presumed to drive me. I think it's rude and aggressive to not allow someone to leave. The last 4 times I've used blacktop to get where I needed to go, the cab driver didn't know where he was going and kept asking me for directions and making wrong turns. In the end what was a normally 20 min commute was an hour! They used to be my favourite cab company but now they cost me too much money to be worth it anymore. :(

The cab driver took me for a really long detour for no reason. I think I ended up paying almost double what it should have cost. Plus the driver was speeding, tailgating other cars and changing lanes constantly. My advice is to check directions before getting in the cab or else they might take you for a longer ride than necessary.

Does Black Top even care that they provide terrible service? I ordered two cabs to my house at 10:30pm and was promised that the second would arrive shortly. This never happened and the second half of our party waited over an hour to accompany us. This should be explained by drivers. Our drivers promised we'd arrive shortly after one another and this was not the cases.

I waited 10, called them, they said: "there are no cabs in your area, and none coming to you". Friendly cab service with clean cars, Black Top wasn't too bad. Worth a try for both short- and long trips. Credit card and cash payments were accepted. Quick and knew best routes. Would use again.
