I was here on business and leisure. When i called before booking my reservation I wanted to know how their internet was. Of course, any hotel would say they have great internet to get you to stay there but they said it was "newly installed" and great so I took their word for it.

Staff was excellent, couldn't have been better. Parking was not great. Room didn't even have thermostat controled central air, had to use wall unit air conditioner that was being covered by windowshade. When windowshade was moved for air conditioning, sun comes blazing into room at 6am while sleeping. Not what you would expect for the price.

My wife and I walk out on the back room patio of the bar tonight and what do we see but the patio table that was stolen from our back yard several months ago. I have no proof other than we recognize it. When confronted the manager was not receptive. It is after all a lousy 50 dollar table. I don't want it back . Location very good, almost on the beach at English Bay. Plenty of restaurants and cafes within minutes as well as Stanley Park. Room at the back was very quiet. Can be reached from the city by either of two bus routes.

Disappointing for a Best Western Plus hotel

The hotel is tired, the rooms are smaller than we expected. The bathroom was old and it was obvious the hotel could use a revamp. Otherwise the bed was comfortable, the location is very close to Stanley Park and convenient to the downtown shopping area.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights after a cruise. We could not check in when we arrived as they were very busy - it is cruise season in Vancouver - but they held our luggage and contacted us as soon as a room was available.

A great location but a little tired

It was perfect to get around in near Stanley Park and many other attractions, but old elevators rugs in halls not great, old plumbing. The lounge was ok for drinks but not too great on food. The staff is very helpful and pleasant.

Excellent location

We love this hotel because the location is excellent. It's next to Stanley park and all the best restaurants are on Denman street.The interior is a little old but it's clean. The only downside is paid parking but that's anywhere in downtown.

Can't beat the location and customer service

You can tell this is an old hotel, but this just adds to the character. It was very clean, and the staff were so courteous and helpful. This was a nice sized room, and it is one block from English Bay, which is were the Sea Wall is. The location was prime, and we were so glad we stayed here!

We had just obet 24 hours in Vancouver and were delighted to find this hotel. The location was perfect giving is easy access to the sights and a relaxing evening by the sea.

The property is a bit old and smallish but has a very helpful staff, a fitness center and is close to English bay. I would stay there again. The walls are very thin! The difference between a regular room and premium room is minimal but in dollars it is quite a bit more.

Vancouver getaway

For the most part, the hotel was good, just dated somewhat. The room was a little noisy as a bus stop was immediately outside my window on the first floor and I could easily hear the TV and voices in the next room.. The girl at checkout was less than friendly, and would not give me a late checkout at 2:00. I had a conference at another hotel beginning at 5;00 pm and could not register until then.

Nice hotel with awesome location

It was pretty good 2 nights for me here. Location of hotel is very good, near to some of the city attractions and good food. Beds were very comfortable. Expect the room and bathroom to be slightly small in size, which is acceptable for me and is also common in most downtown city hotels. Decent value for money stay.

Location was perfect, price was very reasonable (but double check all offers on website as we found better price that what was quoted when speaking to hotel front desk) cleanliness of room was excellent and it made for a great holiday. The BW Plus sands has become our regular hotel in Vancouver. Basically on English Bay, a hop-skip and jump from the Stanley Park Seawall, surrounded by restaurants and all the stores one needs, including a government liquor store, clean and excellent, knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Great location, close to English Bay and Stanley Park. Plenty of choices of places to eat. Very friendly staff and plenty of parking. For $80 a night we got a very clean and comfortable room for 3. The only complaint I have is that there was no fan in the bathroom.

Very nice hotel but quite small

Had a most enjoyable stay. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and actively helpful. The bike rental place across the street was an added bonus for a glorious ride around nearby Stanley Park. Would happily stay there again.

The room was very comfortable and the location was excellent.There was a bus stop outside and buses went to Downtown frequently. It was also adjacent to the waterfront and was really nice to stroll along to Stanley Park especially in the evening when we sat on the beach to watch the sunset.

Long way to go!

Really Good Place to Stay

The location is the best. It is by the sea and you can find lots of restaurants near the hotel.The hotel seems a little old, but it has everything that you need. I really recommend this hotel if you are looking for an accommodation with reasonable price.

Weekend in Van

Accommodations were comfortable - not exceptional, but access to restaurants, views, and attractions was exceptional. Main outdoor attraction is Stanley Park (within walking distance), and many interesting dining options along Denman and Davie streets. A walk along the shoreline was also enjoyable providing the weather was cooperating.

We went with a group of friends, booked 6 rooms altogether. Staffs at counter are very friendly and helpful. We stayed there 3 times within 2 weeks as we stayed in Vancouver first, then went up to the Rockies and back to Best Western Plus Sands. Second time the room on 3rd floor was not as nice as the 2nd floor. Some rooms have microwave but ours didn't. Coffee was not so good. But all in all... more

Stayed here last week. It was horrible! our room was facing the main road. It was very noisy, it was hard to sleep. We would wake up every time a bus would come and go.
all the windows are tightly shut but it was still very noisy.

Good Hotel in an Excellent Position

Spent three nights there which gave us the opportunity to see much of Vancouver. Hotel well placed for beach, Stanley Park and close to many restaurants. Ideal for tourists like ourselves.

Great location and super friendly staff

Loved the place, staff is very friendly. Had a balcony that overlooked English Bay, superb to relax and let the thoughts roam free. Rooms are very clean and maids are very attentive to details. Hotel is also used by large groups - just avoid the reception when those groups are leaving! :)

Great city break location steps from the bay

Had room 323 with a partial mountain view. Comfy bed and sofa plus excellent organic coffee. Spacious bathroom and wardrobe space. Staff friendly but professional and efficient. Lovely location and easy inexpensive access from Airport via Skytain and bus no.5, stops right outside hotel. Good range of cafes and shops near the hotel also.

A cozy room in a great location

As a college student, I didn't want to stay anywhere too extravagant. I'm glad I chose to stay at the Best Western Sands.The location is great, so you can explore the city easily. When you come back to the hotel, you can relax and be comfortable. What else do you need?

I thought this place wasn't too shabby at all. For the price we paid we had two full size beds and a sofa bed to go with it. The TV was actually a flat screen and it was pretty cozy.

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience in this hotel. The staff was very helpful and gave us good advice in what to see and do in Vancouver. They were also friendly and polite.The hotel is centrally located and we were able to walk to Stanley Park and enjoy the views and activities there.We plan to stay in this hotel the next time we visit vancouver.

The location of the hotel was convenient for where we wanted to be. It was barely a 10 minute drive to the places we wanted to go. Parking was ridiculous. We had to pay $15 a night to park in a tiny lot that was always full. The room smelled like stale urine. No matter how much we sprayed the bathroom and room smelled like urine. Not very pleasant. The hotel is located in English Bay, just 3 minutes from the beach.We stayed 4 days there and were happy with what we got. You can walk to Stanly Park or just stroll along the beach. As far as restaurants go, Denman St is just around the corner, a haven for eating places. Frontdesk staff were polite and helpful. I would stay there again.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, everything works well - all facilities and the service. Very well located in relation to CBD, parks and beaches. Hard to fault.

While visiting Vancouver, i stayed at this hotel. Location great; it's steps from the beach, restaurants and bike rental place.
Rooms are well kept and parking is free for guests.

Great Location

Comfortable bed and sofa, wireless internet included, and walking distance to Canada Place, the Aquarium, and a large variety of restaurants and shops made for a great hotel choice. I would definitely consider staying there again. The only downside was the fact that the bathroom had a mildew smell from shower curtain / minimal ventilation.

room was small & bed against wall so access from 1 side only, but clean & comfortable. Nice to have restaurant downstairs for good breakfast. Fee for car parking added to overnight cost & not used to being charged a damage deposit.

We visited Vancouver for a day. The accommodations were very nice. The staff was helpful. We were slightly disappointed that we didn't have a water view, but we were so happy with the room that it didn't really matter.

I wasn't expecting much but we can't complain it was only $67 a night. Very clean, updated halls and they are trying to be completely green. Staff has been very good and attentive. Overall good value and no sign of bed bugs!

The BW Sands is a great hotel! I stayed during my quick visit to Vancouver and left completely satisfied. It's location is phenomenal. It's literally steps away from the beach, shopping and tons of good restaurants. The staff is so friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan on staying here again.

Helpful and friendly staff. Great food in the restaurant. Quiet quiet quiet! Got a great sleep. No street noise or noisy hotel guests! Definitely recommend to others.

A great location, and free wifi was excellent. Parking was $10 a day which soon added up, but everything else was great.

The Best Western Sands maybe not be a plush hotel; however, It is well managed and maintained with convenient ammenities. It has a desirable location surrounded by restaurants and shopping and represents a good value for the money. It's only draw back is ongoing noisy construction near the hotel,but the front desk is willing to work with the guests if quieter rooms are needed.

Would recommend. Go9od restaurant . Close to other restaurants/stores. Enjoyed walk along beach front and sunset. Red bus stop nearby with stops to all attractions nearby, able to get on and off bus at leisure. Short cab ride to Canada Place for cruise ship.

“I would give this hotel about 2 1/2 stars. The front desk staff were excellent but the bathroom was tiny and the room was only adequate. I did not like hearing busses and people going by all night and early morning. I probably would not stay at this hotel again.”
