The room smelled like urine when i checked in. I opened a window. The pool deck also needed cleaning.
For what we paid, this was a nice hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was great. Free WiFi and parking.
Clean room, good location, easy access to University to drop off/pick up my child, lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.
hotel was good, rooms were nice and spacious. It would be nice if all rooms included microwaves though. The breakfast was disappointing. There was no cream cheese or jam for toast or bagles (only syrup and peanut butter), ran out of knives, eggs etc. Very slow to replace items. For a convention centre I thought that they would be more on top of that. Carpets in room did not look like they were... more
Nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Close to downtown. Very small restaurant bar area
We needed one night in a hotel because we were in Guelph for a funeral. The staff was friendly and the room was comfortable. The wifi was not working. A porter was sent to our room. He fiddled with some wiring and the wifi worked for a few minutes after he left, then we gave up on it. The closet door was stuck and wouldopen only partially. The porter fiddled with it, then agreed it was broken.... more
Quiet hotel experience despite the fact that the hotel was fully booked with visiting University rugby teams. The manager was careful to make sure I knew about this ahead of time so I would not be surprised if there was some noise. No problems though...... Quiet night, lovely breakfast and a comfortable room. Would definitely book again!
Best place to stay as this hotel located in a walking distance from shops , bus loop , restaurant and university
We were only using the room as a place to sleep so it wasn't too much of an issue but if we had been there for a vacation we would have been very disappointed.
Only one complaint. My husband uses a walker and there was no disability room. We managed, but in order to go to breakfast we had to walk outside, down the parking lot to the front entrance, then up the elevator to the second floor. It was raining one of the days - no indoor access to facilities without having to use stairs.
nice hotel. It had a very nice looking pool and dispite the fact that it was inviting , we just didn't have enough time to take advantage of going in for a dip.
Couldn't ask for anything more! Great property, it felt like I was in a country setting within the city!
First room after check in smelt really bad, we were moved to a second floor room that was a little better. Apparently, the hotel will be used in the near future as a residence for the local University, and that would be better.
Our whole experience was disappointing. The rooms are noisy and the beds very uncomfortable. The breakfast offered cold scrambled eggs and sausages so overcooked they were desiccated. The wifi wasn't working and we were told the system was being updated so you could go to the lounge to use it, really!!! The pool was closed for maintenance so I had two very unhappy kids looking forward to using... more
The staff here was very helpful and courteous and held my luggage for me after it had been lost by my airline and delivered there after check out. The location was very close to U Guelph, where I was visiting. The room was very large, clean and comfortable. The parking lot was also very close to the hotel entrance, which I found quite convienent.
Stayed one night clean and comfortable. Very close to restaurants and the mall.
Big room but tiny bathroom. Wifi was intermittent at best. Breakfast was ok but not worth the trouble for us. Too pricey for what we got.
The slide door to step outside of the room weren't locked when we first got in the room. So, who knows if anyone came in and out before us. The walls were paper thin. We could hear the conversations people were having just above our room and it didn't help that they didn't sleep until 3-4 am in the morning. At around 8 am, we were waken up by the loud noise from the people getting ice from the... more
Excellent customer service reps. Very friendly staff and delicious complimentary breakfast. Was very impressed with our stay and would recommend.
I booked this hotel because (1) walking distance to University and (2) I was to get a balcony. I didnt get a balcony.
We stayed here for big music fest was about 20 mins from our shuttle it was clean nice rooms
address listed on Gordon st---only accessible from Stone Road very noisy a/c unit--made sleeping difficult couple of earwigs in bathroom
wireless internet was free but intermittent. Room was clean and large. Reasonable value for price, would stay there again.
Pool needed cleaning, no hotel restaurant. Free hot continental buffet was good, simple but good. Rooms were comfortable but needed more attention to detail when being cleaned. Key cards did not work well, had to get ours replaced. Was somewhat frustrating to say the least. Amenities were not great. Overall felt more like an up scale "express stay hotel" not a best western. Guess there is not... more
The room was neat and clean. It had a balcony, but the door was seized up. It had a closet, but one of the doors would no longer hang, it was just in the way. The bathroom was very clean, but the sink took forever to drain.
The hotel itself was ok, our room was in a very inconvenient location within the hotel. The hotel didn't seem all that busy so we couldn't figure out why we were put in this location. We were visiting the University so it was conveniently located to the areas we had to access and within walking distance to restaurants. The staff acted like we were interrupting them when we had to ask questions... more
stinky rooms. Not well maintained. Locks randomly lock you out of room
When we arrived, the hotel lobby was comfortable and attractive -looking; the exterior was mediocre, but you expect that when you're paying a cheap rate. The area where we stayed had no elevator and we had to walk up a flight of stairs to get to our room. Also, from what I could tell, there wasn't any easy access to the main lobby from where we stayed. We had to go outside. The hallway leading... more
I didn't like the cleaning of the room I didn't like the room it was so noisy at night and we couldn't take a nap ........ I just like the morning for breakfast the ladies she was so nice and the service it was good but the cups and glass was dirty was dirty
Good breakfast and comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and it was a quiet night.
I'm a young guy so there are few things I need in a hotel. Mostly I just need a nice bed, a warm shower, wifi and a decent breakfast. Bed: Great! Comfy and clean! Shower: I'm not a big guy, but this shower was small! I felt so cramped and the water pressure was terrible. I should have just rinsed in the sink. Wifi: Horrible. The coverage is terrible, the speed was beyond slow and the connection... more
I had read many reviews of this hotel, and had even stayed here once before. We had a first floor room this time and it was very roomy, clean and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The only downside for me was the internet. I had read reviews that said it was 'iffy'. I didn't think that would be a problem until I realized that my cell phone didn't pick it up good and when it did, it cost... more
Good overall Friendly staff Excellent breakfast
We had a great stay in a warm room on a cold and windy night. The room was clean and fairly new but the sink had the hot and cold reversed. The mattress was saggy but everything else was great. We had a TV with limited channels, a bar fridge and all the other usual amenities. The room was fairly large. Breakfast was hot and had a good selection of food.
Excellent experience! Felipe was fantastic and so helpful. We loved our stay and will definitely be going back.
It is a classy hotel in a quiet place surrounded with trees. I like the interior architecture. Furniture is a little outdated, but in very good condition.
when checking in front desk male receptionist rude and abrupt - not at all friendly. to look at room seemed clean but bathtub was not that clean and duvet on bed wasn't clean - had food or some other dark stains on it but they kept just covering with sheet or blanket. Also blankets/duvet only comes 3/4 up so not that warm. They also had drilling going on outside our rooms - good thing we didn't... more
The wi-fi internet in didn't work (very weak signal), so we had to change the room second night. In the next room there was no phone line and the internet completely gone! They said it is because of weather and the manager talked to us in a very un-professional manner, and when we ask to cancel and leave the hotel, then they gave us another room as work room (with cable internet) and stay in... more
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel while we were attending Guelph University's Open House in November. Having been recently renovated, the rooms were spacious, well-appointed and clean, and the service and staff was efficient and friendly. The rate was very reasonable, especially considering that a hot breakfast was included. The hotel was ideally situated - close to the university,... more
Great location, big room, decent breakfast included.
Close to pretty much anything you would like to see/do in Guelph.
Nice place. the room was ready before checkin time. Breakfast surved on regular (not paper) plates.
“The accommodation at this hotel was basic, but nice. The staff were also nice. In my opinion, the breakfast provided was a real let-down. I arrived half an hour before the end of the time breakfast was available and the food that was supposed to be hot (eggs, bacon, sausage) was either all gone, or cold. No staff seemed to be around to inquire about topping up the selection.”
“Worthwhile to stay for business. Great areas for meetings not requiring a separate room. New furniture, good architecture, and good breakfast.”
We stayed one night to make a long trip easier, and it was a great stay. It was a quiet atmosphere, very clean, newly remodeled, spacious rooms. My only complaint was there was a few short hairs on my bottom sheet, but the room came with an extra top sheet that I used instead, and the beds were pretty hard.
Very hard to find entrance. Lots of fire doors so park near your room or be prepared to schlep luggage. Otherwise very quiet and restful. Room looked over a nicely treed area. Room very spacious and king bed and flat screen a plus.
“Great location right next to the U of G, staff was friendly and the lounge served a good meal. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Guelph.”
“Overall our stay was pleasant, despite some noise created outside in the hallway around 11 pm by partiers.”
“A pleasant, peaceful wooded setting in the middle of town. Parking on the same level as the rooms made moving luggage easier than most. There was a slightly rustic tone to the decor which blended nicely with the setting. Two-star, but maybe closer to 3.”
“Lots of glass in the structure. Actual balconies! Close to downtown. Outdoor pool. Nice for a burbia facility.”
