We recently stayed here -Friday 24th August as part of our trip to Canada from New Zealand. We had especially rung from New Zealand to check that the rooms were suitable as my husband is in a wheelchair. we arrived at 4.30pm to be told our room was not ready and ended up waiting until 5.30pm. We were told there were a lot of people staying the night before. We had to wait in the foyer. The room... more
Canada Select which is Canada's Accommodation Rating Program has given this motel 3 1/2 stars. Air Canada's site (WWTMS) gave it 3 stars. I'm sure that their inspectors were hired from the CNIB because this place is a dump. I've stayed in dumps before but I paid dump prices. This is the first time I paid good money for a dump. This place has to be gutted and rebuilt in order to get any stars.... more
this might be the worst Best Western on the continent. Apart from a great location, there is nothing to recommend this place once you enter your room. The front desk is inadequately staffed at busy check-in hours. The room was moldy and the the shower had black mold on half the tiles. The old AC sounded like a freight train coming through the door. They did clean the tiles after we complained... more
Despite reading some of the negative reviews, my family decided to give this hotel a try. Unfortunately, it just proved many of the previous reviews right. What we got was definitely not worth what we paid. When we first got to our room, neither swipe cards worked. When we went back to the front desk (which was an inconvenience as we were in the building across the street from the main... more
the sound insulation is poor. Too noisy when the next door turns the volume of TV a little bit loud.
Two problems. First night the room was especially warm. Then recommended restaurant proved mediocre. Neither problem especially important, but eat at Gahan's pub.
The hotel is getting old, not quite seedy. We could not control the heat/air-conditioning to our satisfaction. Although, the free breakfast was a very good one, they were slow to refill items and the line-up was too long.
The hotel was good, but we had problems on check in, though I had paid in advance, they said it was not paid.I had my confirmation from orbitz, and luckly I had brought my visa bill that showed it was paid, They said they had to check with orbitz, it took a day and a half to get everything sorted out, it was very frustrating to say the least.
The hotel was was in a great location. It was in walking distance to the Confederation Centre of the Arts, Founders' Hall, the harbor, shops and resturants. The room looked newly painted and had new curtains and carpet but it had an "unpleasant" odor. It smelled like a sour moldy odor. The breakfast consisted of frozen pancakes and waffles, disgusting pre-made eggs, bread, English muffins,... more
The staff was wonderful, and tried the best they could but the air conditioning was not operating in our room or the room they moved us to. The only saving grace was that the second room was adjoined to the rest of my family and they had air conditioning, but their shower leaked all over the bathroom. So choose your poison.
Top dollar for an extremely average hotel. If I had pulled off the interstate and just needed a place to sleep before driving off the next morning this would have been perfect. But as a base of operations for a city experience, it was lacking.
Arrival was good - greeted promptly, answered questions. Hallways were dirty, Room looked out on neighboring house, garbage cans, bright security lights. Room was less than clean, however, the bathroom had been recently upgraded. Internet access was in the lobby (allowed non-guests to come in and use the service.
The rooom was pretty good, no fridge but still excellent. They always had fresh cookies and fruit at the front desk.
The staff was extra courteous. Very clean rooms! If you are going form New York, be prepared to go through a roller coater in terms of treatment (the difference between NY and PEI!).
We were delighted with our choice. The suite was roomy, clean and well furnished. The location was excellent - a short walk to the waterfront and the major tourist attractions. This hotel may not be luxurious but it definitely offers comfort and excellent value.
