Beckta is a great experience - it's an event meal

Well-crafted food, excellent wine pairings and choices, intelligent and efficient service. Beckta offers a refined experience. We had one of their special multi-course meals, with MANY different wines; it was a lengthy, pleasurable and expensive experience. You want to save this for a special occasion, or for a very good client.

Amazing service, amazing food

We had the 8 course wine and food pairing for 4 people. We had one vegetarian and one picky eater. Beckta tailored the menu for each of us, and an the food was incredible. By far one of the very best meals I've ever had at a restaurant, and the service was impeccable.

Best Restaurant in Ottawa

Truly 5 star meal. We had three courses and each one was perfectly executed. I have no bad views of this restaurant and it is worth every dollar. The beef Tartar and BC Halibut were simple incredible.

A reputation well deserved

Excellent meal and experience, front to back. We chose the five course tasting menu, with wine pairings, then added the cheese course prior to dessert - all highly recommended. No problem stating preferences or aversions. The service was exceptional: well informed and attentive (understatements), without being in any way pretentious or intrusive. Enjoyable

Elegant dining without pretension. My son and I enjoyed our meals, but my husband found his entrée not to his complete satisfaction and also observed the prices a bit "high". At any rate, I would return.

Superb food, excellent service

We had the "unseen" tasting menu, which was fabulous. No problem to accommodate dietary restrictions within the group. While I wish we had been decisive and gone for the matching wines, the wines we had were excellent. Knowledgeable, accommodating staff. good atmosphere - not at all stuffy or pretentious. Always at the top of my list

I've had the pleasure of going to Beckta dining and wine an extreme amount of times, the food is amazing and in my opinion the staff is second to none when it comes to service(Im not just referring to ottawa). If you love fine dining and have the chance of visiting ottawa it'd be a mistake to overlook this establishment.

The informative Sommelier provided is with delightful descriptions of wines chosen for each course and was happy to answer questions. Beckta is our go to place for celebrations.

Always a wonderful experience

This is a restaurant that provides not just a great meal but a wonderful experience. The service is great from beginning to end. The food is always good - and I have eaten here many many times. Every fantastic review has been earned. A truly fantastic meal, and the service was impeccable. The staff are approachable, friendly, and knowledgable. At no point did we feel stifled by overly attentive waiters, but somehow, they were alway there when something was needed. In a small house just off Bank street. Decor is simple. Food was some of the best we've had in Ottawa. Portions are not too large and the dishes are interesting. Service was execellent, all of the staff was attentive but not annoying. Wine recommendations were just right for our food.

Every time someone comes from out of town we like to try a new restaurant and every single time we end up back at Beckta's the next night. Nothing compares to there service and food and overall dinning experience. A must on the places to visit.

Not impressed

Went for the tasting menu in summer 2012 and was especially underwhelmed. Splurging on the tasting menu is a rare occurrence for us and I expect to be impressed, not wishing I hadn't wasted my money. It's possible the regular menu is fine but I won't eat here again so I won't find out. Such a waste!

Beckta continues to be the yard-stick by which we measure all fine-dining experiences we have. We have visited Beckta at least two times a year since we moved to Ottawa four years ago. The service is always exemplary, and the servers are very knowledgeable about food. I think it says a lot about the quality of a restaurant when they are able to retain their servers year after year as Beckta has.

Consistently good

I go here several times a year. Very nice food and even better service. Restaurant is homey but needs a renovation. Keep a look out for new menu items like Muskox which are worth the high prices compared to the standard chicken and salmon dishes. Desserts are nice but have never wowed me.
