The Beaverbrook Art Gallery, a gift to the people of New Brunswick from Lord Beaverbrook (Sir Max Aitken), features works by Canadian and British artists and a unique sample of works from international artists. The Gallery exhibits an exciting mix of works from its own collection as well as works and exhibitions on loan from other institutions. The Gallery's icon, Salvador Dalí's Santiago el... more

As provincial art gallery of New Brunswick, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery is dedicated to "enriching life through art"
This surprisingly impressive museum overlooks the waterfront and is home to an extensive collection of British paintings, including works by Reynolds, Gainsborough, Constable, and Turner. Antiques buffs gravitate to the rooms with period furnishings and early decorative arts, while others find themselves drawn to Dalí's massive Santiago El Grande and studies for an ill-fated portrait of Winston... more
A few days ago,I visited this art museum located in the heart of Fredericton. Most of their famous paintings by famous painters were out on loan, including their paintings by John Constable,Alfred Sisley, and Salvador Dali.Nevertheless,I saw fine Renaissance Period paintings by Jaime Cirera(Spanish-"Saint Martin of Tours"),Marcellius Coffermans("Crucifixion" triptych),Bartholomeus Bruyn the... more
Lots of variety in the exhibits- they have a very interesting collection- good value- friendly and very informative staff.
Enjoyed the special exhibits of several Maritime artists I had not known about. Neree de Grace, an Acadian artist, is spectacular find; just like Chagall. Was impressed by all I saw even though I have AGO & McMichael memberships.
Great works of Art a must see stop. A beautiful setting on the Saint John River just across the street are Government Houses and close to The Catherdal and Playhouse
A beautiful art collection. It is worth visiting and have a look. They have Dali!!! Entry fee is affordable. The gallery is close to the town centre.
Wonderful gallery, a must see! Lots of great artists on display, they have a beautiful kriegoff collection!
Family visited the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and came away amazed and what was there. What a collection they have. Well worth a visit
My family and I visited the Beaverbrook Art Gallery the other nite to view the amazing Photographic Collection of Freeman Patterson. It was beautiful, serene, moving, and enlightening. While there we took in the many other displays and works of other famous painters. The Alan Syliboy "Thundermaker" exhibit was mythical and captivating. The Aboriginal "Young Ancestors" exhibit by four First... more
This is a really nice art gallery, we were there for a couple hours enjoying the art work and displays. The staff were very friendly and answered all our questions. A " you have to go there place"
Also a great deal of history is attached to the gallery, how it came to be, the art work there.
I don't know much about art myself. But that doesn't matter. Anyone would be impressed by the collections of this gallery in such a small city as Fredericton. It may take more than one visit to soak it all in. A great place to stay dry on a rainy vacation day.
If you are visiting Fredericton for an hour or a day, you simply cannot miss the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. From its scenic location on the Green across the Provincial Legislature to its wonderful permanent exhibits and temporary shows, This is a must see while in the provincial capital.
I can send an hour just exploring the details in Santiago el Grande by Dali. The Beaverbrook collection is not to be missed. When you think about the great works on display here in a city of fifty thousand it is really a wonder.
Beaverbrook art gallery is one of my favorite spots in Fredericton. Quiet, beautifulily put together and well worth the money. I give it a 10
Fredericton doesn't have many big attractions but the Art Gallery is definitely something you should see when you are here. The Dali alone is amazing, the size and grandeur of it are amazing! The gallery usually hosts a lot of special exhibits through the year and these are really interesting.
Dali, Bobak, Kreighoff (sp?), Colville, and many more fine works. A relative of mine who is on the board of directors of the Phoenix Arizona art gallery was absolutely blown away that our little city had so many incredible works by so many incredible artists. Thank you Lord Beaverbrook!
It's massive, towering over your head! And it's intricate - look closely and you'll see much more woven into the masterpiece than is first visible. Salvador Dali's work is best viewed when you are lying on the floor...no joking! We did just that...and others in the room joined us! There are many other pieces of art that are well worth... more
The gallery was a gift to the province from the self made millionaire press baron Lord Beaverbrook. Many of the paintings are from the "Beaver's" personal collection so are both interesting art in themselves as well as a study into the psyche of an important 20th century character. The massive "Santiago El Grande" was commissioned to Dali for the 1957... more
Oh ya. Real good. Much fun. Such happy we stop by and look at all good paintings much. Love love love frames. O wow. So fun. Cannot wait to go ther again. Enjoyed bathrooms.
Lovely gallery. Really enjoyed the Freeman Patterson photography exhibit (the reason we visited) but the other exhibits were also interesting and enjoyable.
We stopped by the Beaverbrook art gallery whilst staying in Fredericton during the Harvest jazz and Blues festival and I was really impressed. We were quite a large group of travel professionals and the gallery was very good at accomodating us. The security guard Jerry was very knowledgable and explained several of the paintings and photographs to us which was... more
This new exibit is awesome. Some of Freeman's best work over the years. Wow. Don't miss. Well worth the trip.
There isn't many negative things I could say about this gallery. I love the layout, the staff are educated and attentive and the children's programs are wonderful. It's a great place to be if you're having a blah day......the art certainly perks you up!
This gallery has an interesting collection and worth at least an hour of your time during your Fredericton visit.
On the banks of the beautiful St. John River, known as the Rhine of America, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery is a legacy left to the province by the late Lord Beaverbrook (Sir Max Aitken). It holds many significant works including the impressive Salvadore Dali. A must when visiting Fredericton. You will be most impressed.
Having read about the Beaverbrook Art Collection we were disappointed to find (after we had paid our entry fee) that approximaely 60 of the major art works are on a travelling exhibition. Even though the remaining art is o.kwe would probably not have spent time here if we had known that the bulk of the Beaverbrook Collection was not in... more
Their famous Picasso is on loan for a long time, and the rest doesn't warrant the cost of entry. Plan on 45 minutes if you insist on going.
Based on all the rave reviews, we were expecting much more. We thought it was rather pricey in comparison to most NB attractions. The famous works were all out on tour; while there were nice galleries to wander through there was nothing particular spectacular (or well-known) to look at. The modern art display of bricks on the wall left us... more
Who would of thought that a Dali would reside in Fredericton! Lots of world calss exhibits to see and view, a pleasant surprise.
The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is home to the Salvador Dali, Santiago-el-Grande, it is so impressive...it will take your breath away. Even if you are not an art enthusiast you will be impressed by it's size and grandeur. Unfortunately, it is away on tour, but this gallery offers a surprising array of pieces from Kreighoff to Gainsborough. The art classes for... more
The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is world-renowned and sits on the banks of the beautiful Saint John River. From Dali's masterpiece Santiago-el-Grande greeting you in in the main lobby to art classes for the young and old downstairs, the Beaverbrook Masterworks collection and a host of travelling exhibitions, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery is a place to return to again and again.
The BAG is one of Canada's hidden cultural treasures. It is a must see when visiting the capital city. Right now some of the master works are on tour but there are still wonderful displays to see. Make sure you also visit the sculpture garden between the BAG and the hotel. And while you are there stroll the aptly named... more
The gallery is much larger than it appears and has some very unique pieces. It is good to go when you have time and can really read the history behind the pieces. I have gone with a group and my children and by myself I must admit I enjoyed it much more on my own. Though the guided tour was... more
This gallery is a first rate art gallery situated on the beautiful Saint John River in the city of Fredericton. It contains works by many of the famous 18th century artists, Gainsborough, Turner etc and works by Kreigoff, and other Canadian artists along with a fine collection of china, Gobelins tapestries and the masterpiece by Salvador Dali which unfortunately at... more
This gallery offers a surprising variety of pieces which range from Kreighoff to Salvador Dali as well as a porcelain collection. Guided tours are available upon request. It is one of the "must see" collections in NB.
World class gallery ! Out-of-town visitors will be amazed at the scope and quality of the artwork within. Do not pass through Fredericton without stopping here.
Wide ranging collection of historic work and thoughtful contemporary exhibits. The best art museum in New Brunswick.
The admission fee is a bit high for fixed and low-income folk, but considering it can easily take you over an hour to see everything it's well worth it. There was a good variety of types of exhibits on the day I visited from modern abstract, to folk art paintings on furniture, to 16th century ceramics, and much more. I... more
Stunningly beautiful, well laid out gallery. Displays are uncluttered and do justice to the works. And what a collection of works! You will be pleasantly surprised to see Colville, Lismer as well as myriad other Canadian, European, American works. What a cultural gem!
All the good stuff is on the road - we found it a highly disappointing experience bordering on a waste of time. That they charge a fee for entry in the circumstances of no Dali is outrageous.
Made the stop in Fredericton and stayed the night before specifically to see these pieces just to find out that they were out on loan - warning to anyone visiting to call ahead
Spend a few hours here - it is charming and has some amazing treasures. The Dali stuff is all away on the road, but there were plaenty of other lovely things to check out. Regional representation is great.
Very interesting and well presented. Staff courteous. Seating nicely placed. Would recommend this to all ages. Will return.
Private collection mixed with local changing exhibit . well presented . Helpful counter staff. Don't take photos though as grumpy security guardian
Another nice place to see in Fredericton. A good collection of art. We spent few hours and enjoyed. They also run art camps for children.
Best gallery in NB. the quality of the art is what you would expect in a large city. Comparable with the Ago or Moma and The Met in quality. Go... more
Although I've lived in the Fredericton region for several years, I don't think I'd been to the art gallery since going on a class trip more than a few years back.
My partner and I went as a part of his birthday celebrations (he'd been wanting to go) and it was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The...

My Daughter and drove to see the Dali off on It's tour. We were disappointed that the Dali was already crated up but enjoyed our visit to the museum and the music provided. The staff were very pleasant.
My visit to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery was especially to take in the huge Salvador Dali painting that's depicted next to the name here on TripAdvisor. Don't be afraid to lay on the floor to appreciate the depth of this painting. In fact, the staff encourage it! One wing of the building was closed during our visit as an exhibit... more
I love cruising around this place. The staff are friendly, the exhibits are interesting, and (bonus!) UNB students can get in for free.
This gallery is a hidden gem - well worth the stop and a great Salvador Dali collection (I'm a fan). Reasonable and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
We have been travelling the east coast for a few months now and the beaverbrook art gallery is a place that stands out in our trip. It is an exceptional gallery, absolutely beautiful paintings showcased and everything is eye catching. The staff is great, everyone is organized and friendly. Definitely one of Fredericton's gems! Can't wait to return on our... more
The gallery sits opposite the Provincial Legislature and shows its back to the Saint John River. It was a gift of Max Aitken, Lord Beaverbrook, a New Brunswick native who became a newspaper magnate and a British peer. His name and generosity are evident throughout the province. It has become a bone of contention between the trustees and the heirs of Lord Beaverbrook as to whether the valuable... more
One word: Awesome.
I loved visiting this gallery, seeing the current exhibits representing artists from all over Canada, Britain and the world. I think the most moving experience was seeing the Santiago El Grande, a work by Salvador Dali, up close and in person.
The atmosphere is friendly, but young chidren might ruin the mood, so if you bring children, you may want to teach them about proper...

As provincial art gallery of New Brunswick, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery is dedicated to "enriching life through art"
The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is one of the most talked about art galleries in the state. Located along Queen Street, the site could not be more appealing. Started in 1958, the gallery was opened by Lord Beaverbrook, who was a press biggie at the time who wanted to give back to the community he grew up in through a respectable art gallery. A lot of the paintings at the gallery were from his own... more
