Great breakfast with the most delicious bacon I think I have ever had. Went for the $6.50 breakfast special which is two eggs, two pieces of toast, and a bunch of that yummy maple bacon. Staff was great and friendly, coffee was perfect and topped up. Will return for sure! Great find!
Good portions, good food for a good price.
Staff was very friendly too!
Only negative comment is that the milkshakes are a bit small for $4.75... I ordered a strawberry milkshake and it was a bit smaller than a small McDonald's drink.
The only positive thing I can say about this place is the service is friendly and the portions are large. The food was terrible. My chicken tasted like it had been in the freezer for a long time. It was coated in a coating that reminded me of Shake-n-bake. It was almost inedible. My husband got a burger and it was a pre-made frozen patty on a stale bun. Horrible!
Walking into Basell's was like walking back into the 50's in all respects- the service, the decor and the prices.
I challenge anyone to eat a whole meal on their own, I love my food and managed not quite half of the fried chicken. I think we took more home than we ate.
The service was literally straight out of a movie, the waitress was lovely and could have come straight from central casting...

HUGE PORTIONS
This is a super old school breakfast joint in Niagara Falls. Time Warp is a great definition.
My wife and I ordered 2 regular breakfasts. Mine came with game which equates to 7-8 slices of ham and my wife's breakfast came with bacon (10 slices).
The best part about this place is that the large portions meals are actually pretty good. This is high quality ingredients.
The only...

I'm back in this town in mid December for legal business, and Im ordering the Clubhouse !!!!!
When the waitress told us that the portions were quite large, even that didn't prepare us for the feast that was given to us! I'm telling you, if you are crazy hungry for some awesome, greasy breakfast food, this place is for you!
Judge not its appearance, this place is great!
I would describe this place as ghetto fabulous.
It definitely embodies what the true Niagara Falls, Canada is: a place stuck in the past, with not much of a future. Yeah, yeah, people think Niagara Falls is so romantic and awesome, but step outside the touristy sections for a bit and you'll find Basell's, and you'll see the real Niagara Falls.
Anyway, this place has cheap prices and all-day...

This restaurant has been around for 40+ years and could use a facelift. However the waitress staff were amazing and have been there a long time so they knew the menu better than the menu and were very good and flexible with our requests. The food is cooked in real butter and was amazing! It tasted like home cooking and... more
We just came back from NF and I made it mandatory that we don't eat on either strip as each of them have numerous chain restaurants found in the USA. Also the prices tend to be higher in these tourist trap cities. With that being said I urbanspooned, yelped and trip advised any potential restaurant. Basell's being one of them.... more
Had breakfast here and the portions are huge! The food is exactly as you would expect from a diner..hearty and satisfying. Only negative is that it is expensive for a diner and you have to build your breakfast for example home fries don't come with the peameal bacon and eggs and you must add tomato slices etc. sad that they... more
I live in Niagara Falls, so I don't know if this counts, but IT SHOULD. Anyway....I promise you, you, you will not leave Basell's hungry.
You will look twice at the amount of food on your plate when it arrives at your table.
You cannot put your mouth around their Club Sandwich.
Their peameal back bacon is cut at least...

Went with my husband and another couple. We walked there from the Sheraton on the falls..took us about 15-20 minutes (probably 2 minutes to drive from the falls). The food portions were outrageous! When I was stuffed, it didn't even look like I made a dent. Literally 1/2 pound of bacon was served with the standard 2 egg breakfast! Worth... more
I used to live in the Falls and I honestly believe this is one of those "best kept secret" places. The food is always good, well portioned and affordable. When I visit, I make a special trip to go there. I've never been disappointed. The breakfast is especially tasty! And you can get it at any time!
I looked at the previous reviews and don't understand the negative comments about this place. I was a little nervous going there at first, but had a positive experience for breakfast.
The place was older, but seemed very clean. They open early which is a big plus, as you have a choice of missing the big breakfast crowds, which we...

We, family of 10, located this 4 stars restaurant thro Trip Advisor , before heading to it.
I did not have extra expectation due to the location, but I did not realize the cooking was
that poor. The pork chop just like a piece of wood without any taste except corn there was
no other vegetable to compliment with the...

After seeing 4 star reviews, we expected it to be good. Had dinner there. Decor was typical diner, not updated at all. Completely empty for dinner on a sunday night. Waitress was friendly and good. Portions were huge, but when the quality is only okay, you won't end up finishing it anyway. Fries were dry and tasted like cardboard (maybe... more
Really like this place. It is old school, but the food is great and plentiful. The waitresses are wonderful too.
We went there for the first time on the advice of a waitress we had at Mama Mias the night before.
She had nothing but good to say about this place!
So we gave it a shot....
The omelletes tasted like they were made with Spam.....the Turkey meat in the Club House sandwich looked and tasted like they got it...

I have eaten here twice when visiting NF, and would go again for the breakfast (noting that most of the unfavourable reviews are for lunch or dinner). Yes, it is a greasy spoon, in the classic D and DI sense - not updated for a long time in terms of decor. The service has been outstanding. The peameal (sorry, Canadian)... more
This diner has been here forever, yet they still sell great food! The decor has never changed over the years, but thats ok cause they make up for it with the service and food. We love the Club House turkey sandwich... Full chunks of real turkey (not sliced processed turkey) lots of bacon... mmmm.... always a Favorited when we go... more
Had the special - cabbage rolls which were cold. They took them back and nuked them to be warm. The liver & onions was ok. Nothing more. but the fries were barely warm. The side veg on both plates looked old & dried out. Server was difficult to find and there were 4 or 5 tables (maybe 10 people total)... more
Had breakfast here on the way out of town. Others are right in that this place aint much to look at but the service is quick and its good value. Food was fresh and hot. Coffee was good and waitress kept my cup full. Only downside was the mildew smell.
Excellent wait staff, drink options subpar, food was ok good portions, taste bland, breakfast might be better.
We decided to try their breakfast after trying on Monday (only to find they're closed Mondays). The service was good, our server attentive. The portions were good, but the rim of the plates were greasy, the ham looked and tasted like Spam with the edges cut off, and the pie crust tasted like soap. The price was pretty steep for... more
Horrible experience! Our food was cold and the hamburger was not fully cooked as asked for and the hamburger bun was stale. The service was slow, rude and unfriendly. The atmosphere was dingy, old and dirty. The washroom was dirty and really in need of a painting. Hated the parking lot.
Closest to a Jersey Diner as we'll get here in Niagara!!! Huge portions, fast speedy service. Great food. Great prices!
The decore appears dated, but that only adds to the charm. Great food, large portions, effecient staff. My "go to" for weekend breakfast stops.
Amazing food and portions, very friendly service...warm people. I tell every bacon lover ...basells is your dream destination, as you look around at new comers you see their faces as their orders arrive followed by gasps and "wows" the place seems like it lacks updated "decor" but it doesn't matter because its clean, welcoming and friendly! Everytime we go there... more
Sunday night before heading back to the GTA, we were looking for a crepe place but it was close and saw this restaurant.
It is like going back in time since its decor and chattels are back from many years ago. We order soup and a hot beef sandwich, portions are enormous and with a very traditional taste, like grandma is cooking in the back!
If you want alot of food at a fair price dont walk past Basells. They serve large portions of good guality food,if you have breakfast you will get 6-10 pieces of bacon min...the owners only buy large eggs as well a quality cheese. If you get the homefries ask for a half order DRY it will feed 3,dry due to the fact... more
My girlfriend and I went for lunch on a Saturday. The food and portion size were great. The service was very friendly. The fish fry and turkey sandwich were very good. Had a great breakfast there this morning. Tons of bacon. Order the half home fries. Service was very good. Just go there..it's yummy.
This place is not far from the tourist district. I eat here very regularly. If you like homestyle cooking in large portions, you'll love this place. They have two daily specials which include homemade soup/juice, meal, coffee/tea and ice cream cup, often for less than $12. Saturdays they have an awesome prime rib dinner. Go early for the best selection... more
No frills old school greasy spoon. Decor and atmosphere hasn't changed from the day it opened. Classic canadian diner food and friendly service. A niagara institution just far enough away from the c@!p on the strip.
Well they give large amounts of food. I like the club house and fries that all I've ever had from here a few times while in Niagara. Chef doesn't like to put mayo on the sandwich ? Ah can I have mayo on my sandwich. Sorry u will get it on the side as the chef doesn't like putting it... more
Wow, good food, good service and felt like an old fashioned diner. My husband thought he was back downtown Toronto 50 years ago. He loved it.
Anytime we are near Niagara Falls, Basell's is part of the day. Many years ago we stopped at a chain restaurant and asked the waiter where he would go for a good breakfast and he said Basell's. Pea meal bacon is the big hit along with Quebec pancakes. Can't wait to go back again.
Take a short drive (1/2 mile or so) out of the main area in Niagra and eat breakfast here. This is by far the best breakfast and best value you will find. The prices are great and the portions are huge. My son and I had the Quebec Pancakes with the Canadian Bacon and we could not finish off the... more
Basell's decor might be a throw-back to the 70's but the food is great and well worth the money. Make sure you're hungry so you can finish your meal. Everything is "huge". I have been going to this place for years. Not much has changed (including the decor), the prices are still low, the portions are huge and the staff friendly. Big and delicious plates particularly breakfast. Order HALF sides of home fries and Canadian bacon. Each slice of Canadian bacon is a small pork chop. Come hungry!

I've been to Basell's for breakfast several times, but not recently. This trip was terribly disappointing.

The only reason I have a 4 star is how dated this place is, but at the same time it is cool. It is very clean.

If you are a local, or just visiting Niagara, you must visit Basell's for breakfast. Going to Niagara and not having breakfast at Bassel's at least once is like going to Paris and not visiting the Eiffel Tower.

I love this place.
I spent some time chillaxin' here during my stay in Niagara Falls.
I don't actually remember what the food was like (we went there for breakfast), but I remember I drank a lot of coffee and we really liked our waitress.
Had brunch there at 10 AM. Staff was friendly and wasn't bothered by me ordering lunch during breakfast hours.
Their thick and juicy Canadian bacon would put any American-style bacon to shame! I have also had the best cabbage rolls there.
Their breakfast sets cost about $10, very reasonable in my opinion.
