Been around a long time... The challenge is showing up and them being open, closures and peculiar hours. Serving quality roti before most others in the city.
I miss Barb!! This is amazing food. I'm telling you! The jerk chicken and curry chicken roti is killer. The guy working is super friendly and the food is quick. A gem indeed BUT be aware before you drive here if you don't live in the area - Barb is not well and it has not been open in about a year. Get well soon.
Great Roti. Odd hours, yet I can no longer overlook the insane 9/11 radical propaganda. I will not support radical, scary and offensive religious/political agendas even if the food is great.
Have been going to barbs roti for years and it seemed to be closed for a long time, but recently found out that Mrs. Barb is not well. Hope barb and her family know how much we miss them and their great food!! Guess I will be losing weight this winter!!! Please open as soon as you can!!
I used to really like Barb's because of their fresh roti and taste. They have been very inconsistent lately and I have been getting stale bland roti. Too bad! I will try again maybe in a few months...if their open.
Love this place, have been a regular for years. However lately hours are next to nil and they don't answer the phone....
If anyone knows anything please share
Bar a' sit is now I guess
Boo hoo
It's tricky to review a place that you've been meaning to try for along time, have gone to on 3-4 different occasions only to find out they were closed, and FINALLY try it out.
Please note: TAKE-OUT ONLY! There is neither any seating nor do I think anyone would want to stare at all the random decorations.
The tchotchkes are the first thing that you'll notice and they're like EVERYWHERE. So...

The best chana rotis in the GTA. Friendly service and quirky decor make this place memorable for all the right reasons. Must eat here!
All i can say this was my first time here today and not last) i finally opened myself to some new cuisine and i can say the curry chicken roti was one of the best fiods EVER i tried!!! The customer service was so nice it is only take out but it was quick and very good value)) Roti was... more
When I need a great lunch to distract me from a bad day at work, I often head over to Barb's for a hot Chicken Roti.
Never hungry afterwards and the taste is great - tasty, spicy, comfort in a messy package.
Be sure you have cash to pay as Barb's doesn't accept debit or credit - cash only.

This place is a nice little hidden gem.
Both the exterior and interior don't appear to be anything special, but don't let that deter you from the quality of the food itself. I was brought here by a friend who convinced me that it was amazing, and after giving it a try I'd probably have to agree. I ordered a spicy jerk chicken roti, which was around $10 after tax, a bit on the pricy side for...

The best island food on lakeshore. It's outstanding. Never bad. I'm always satisfied.
The decor of the place is insane, and cluttered, with odd political messages on the wall. The decor is awful but who cares. The staff are friendly enough (it's just the family that owns the place). All of this however is unimportant.
The reason why none of that matters is because the Roti is so good....

Barb's Roti has overall, the best roti in Toronto. I have eaten there for 25 years and I've had others. Excellent quality ingredients and flavour. Nice and hot - great curry consistancy - top quality roti pastry. I like the small shrimp, but chicken, goat, large shrimp, beef and chana are all excellent. Top quality potatoes and peas also. Never... more
I've been a customer of Barb's for around 15 years and now make special trips to get there since i've moved to mid-town. It is consistently the best jerk chicken roti anywhere! Remember this is not a sit down place so plan ahead and enjoy.

They have consistently made the best Caribbean style roti for as long as I can remember. I always get the medium chicken roti, because they don’t mess around with their Scotch bonnet pepper hot sauce. The hot is very hot and will make you sweat. They give you a good ratio of chicken to potatoes and the curry gravy is... more
The place is located in a modest, unassuming strip mall on the lakeshore, not far from the Toronto border, but don't let the location fool you. The shop is takeout only and the menu is limited.
Having said that, the roti shells melt in your mouth - simply wonderful. The curry chicken with boneless white meat is among the best...

Used to go here years ago, was only roti shop around and food was good. Recently went there. Shrimp roti mostly potato. Service still sucks here, owners are not friendly. That 's why I stopped going there before. Won't go back.
The roti here is very tasty, but the size seems to be smaller than many other roti places. As well, the chicken roti seemed to be a lot more potato and a lot less chicken than I'd like. I went here again the other day after some time away.
Service was quick enough.
No credit or debit. Cash only.
I wouldn't say it's the most amazing place in the whole of Canada ur even Ontario but its not far from it. It's like a dabba which is nice for us. It reminds me a lot if india, the roadside small shops euth not much staff. It's a lovely place to treat the fam for a great meal
I have been going to Barb's Roti Shop with my family for many years now and they have never let us down. It is a take out eatery with great curried chicken, curried goat and great doubles... all boneless. They are not as messy to eat as some other place; as Barb's alwats tightly wraps each roti to perfection. Take... more
I have been a 20 year fan of the roti since I had it at VENA's in Toronto. I eat rotis on a daily basis and am always looking for a new place to stop in at.
I heard very good reviews about this place, but was surprised to find that the menu was lacking and they were not flexible...

In my humble opinion the best Roties, same good quality for years
Who/when: Me and my spouse and a friend. We went to Barbs roti on a Saturday evening on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area.
Where: Located in a somewhat rundown strip mall in Mississauga, it is easy to miss Barb's Roti. Upon entering the shop, you will see somewhat unusual religious/political propaganda are on the walls....

the roti is okay. it's a lot saucier than other places. it really depends on personal preference. good variety of roti. Why i gave it a 2 star is their weird hours and poor customer management. If you see 2-3 customers in line why would you take the first person's order and not even acknowledge or look up at the next customers to see what they plan to order? Instead she walks to the back and... more
The ONLY 5 Star Caribbean food i have found!
They just do it more to a north american quality with awesome chicken breast roti and excellent others for vegetarian to carnivores - great portions and great value. I travel and sample many roti shops but i still keep going back to Barbs for 15 years or more.
This place serves the best roti I've ever had (and I say this as a woman who sought out lots of obscure places around the city). It's a take out only place (although they sell jar of jerk spice and the like), it's located in a dilapidated strip mall, and there is no bathroom. It's run by Barb and her husband Patrick who are from Guyana. There son helps out at the shop as well.
There homemade...

this spot has a good variety of roti on the menu. it's one of the few where i've seen jerk chicken roti as an option and the portions are good for what you're paying for it. the guys that runs the place always has a good story to tell ya. just ask him about chemtrails!! :)
I'm relatively new to roti, and as someone who has had it from a small handful of places, I really enjoy this roti!! You get a LOT so make sure you're hungry. They also know the meaning of 'hot'. I'm not quite sure exactly what a 'double' is either, but give one a try, they're super tasty.
Haven't been in awhile, but this place is awesome for roti's!!! I usually get the curried goat roti, or jumbo shrimp. Good quality meat, no bones or stringy stuff. They are good size, and taste fantastic. I would eat one for breakfast easily if I could.
Cash only take out. A little corner shop in strip mall. Closed mondays and holidays and for a month mid-december to mid-January.
Ordering is done in waves so be patient. They come out take everyone's order and then head back to make them all. Turn around can be up to 15 minutes if busy.
The 'bread" is finer ground than...

best roti shop in Toronto. Butter chicken roti is to die for.
I added Barb's to the system so I could rate it. The best, hands down.
