Couple of us came in to reliable ol' Bau Chau for a food break while studying. they got the pho combo w/ salad roll, I got the vermicelli. Service was usual Vietnamese pho restaurant service - seated ourselves, ordered what we wanted, and kitchen turned it over the food quickly to us. We've always enjoyed coming to Bao Chau as our reliable go-to source for Vietnamese food in the neighbourhood.... more

been here many times .Today was the latest, tried some new stuff. Colleen had the Bun with pork chop and spring roll. The pork was chopped so I guess they mean pork chopped not pork chop. Very delicious regardless of the composition of the description! The spring roll is always the best there. Large, crisp, slightly chewy and so good. She mixes her bun up so the veg and vermicelli are a mess .... more

I love the pho: perfect size, the meat was fresh and sliced to the perfect thickness, the broth was some of the best I've had. The service was very friendly as well, will try to go back before I leave the city!

When I try a Vietnamese restaurant, I usually get their signature pho or pho with beef brisket, but I was craving chicken yesterday, so I got their grilled chicken with beef broth instead. It vastly exceeded my expectations. The chicken was very tender, and the lemongrass did not lose flavor in the beef broth. The beef broth was pretty standard though.

I also ordered their mini vegetarian... more

this place is aiight to me. I've been here twice and found that the rice and vermicelli dishes are superior to their pho. There were a lot of meat in my bowl, the noodles were cooked perfectly, but the broth was lacklustre. There was no complexity to the broth, it was so bland i had to go h@!%!*n the satee and hoisin sauce. Plus i wasn't really feeling the meat, not bad but not the best quality... more

After the food fiasco at Le Do, my hubs and I came to Bao Chau to try the spring rolls because we were still somewhat hungry. I won't write a long review because we still haven't really "eaten" here, I suppose. But what we did have was good.

The spring rolls live up to their name. They are delicious, authentically made to the dot with rice paper and pork filling. It tastes almost like how my... more

Really good Pho! Quite a selection of dishes and a really welcoming environment. I had lunch here one Friday afternoon and was delighted at how good the service and the food was. Very generous portions that fill you up and keep you going until supper.

Try the beef balls and tripe. Excellent!

I love the grilled minced pork here. IMO the best I've tasted compared to other places
Their soup is also very tasty.
The prices are comparable to other Vietnamese restaurants.
The staff are very friendly.
One down fall is that they only take cash.

I always have the number 40...rice vermicelli with grilled pork patty, grilled pork and spring roll. Never fails!

Plus their prices are very good when compared to all the other places I have been to.

Family run business that has been in the neighbourhood for 20 years. The owner, John, always has a smile on too:)

Best Pho in Vancouver! Great value and sooo much meat! Also, not super oily like everywhere else, just flavorful! The spring rolls are not the best I have had but they are good and the pho makes up for them!

I come here very often and tried almost everythig. Their pho is very good but theres not as much noodles as there was before. Their spring rolls are so good, probably best ones I've tried. They're salad rolls are pretty big and also good too. I love their rice dishes and vermicelli. The chicken and pork are so good. I hVent found a place that has better meat than this place. IMO Bao Chau is one of the best cheap pho places in Vancouver. Every time that I have come here it's been extremely good. From the soups to the rice to the noodles, and especially their famous spring rolls.

The only negative I can say is that it can get a bit pricey at times, ex : My girlfriend and I have come here and gotten 1 rice and 1 vermicelli dish , 1 order of spring rolls and a drink... more

As far as Viet food is concerned it's the best restaurant in town. The pho is flavourful and the beef is very lean, unlike most other places I've been to. The vermicelli dish with shredded pork, grilled pork and patty, spring roll is awesome every time. The service is always fast. I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so!

I ordered the beef flank and beef balls and thought that the pho was alright. The soup base was good but I felt that the noodles were a tad undercooked.

Good pho but not amazing..

For a grimy dirty Vietnamese restaurant, Bao Chau is pretty standard. Sorry, but this is the kind of place I'm scared to go to the washroom for fear of what I may see on my way there!

I ordered the Meatball soup and I shared some spring rolls with my friend. Hmmm... I guess the food was ok tasting. I'm writing this review hours after eating there, and I haven't had the dry heaves yet!

A standard Vietnamese diner. Cash only. No atmosphere, great food.

The fried spring rolls ($4) were pretty darn faboo. If i hadn't had the ones at Le Petit Saigon just a few doors down, I'll call these the best I've had in Vancouver so far. They are only slightly edged out. Very crispy, very savoury, but with maybe juuuust a bit too much extra rice wrapper that was slightly undercooked and... more

I want to give this place a 3.5 star cause it's kinda my default vietnamese place that's in this neighborhood but it's not exactly a 4 star place.
I know for the longest time they havent' changed their price for their food but recently I went in for a bowl of pho and realize it's like 7.50 for a small bowl of pho which I recall it use to be 6.75. I mean it's good but the small pho looks a lot... more

Can't have dinner here without trying the spring rolls. They are the best in the city.

The place is clean and efficient. Everything on the menu is delicious, fresh and plentiful. I've tried everything on the menu practically and can't complain about anything else. The rice platters are delicious and so is the pho. It's definitely my go-to place for vietnamese food.

There are plenty of viet restaurants along this street but this one seemed the most packed so came here for lunch. I had the bbq and meatloaf sort of thing(forgot the name) rice platter.

It was a lot of meat, if you are a small eater you can easily split this with a friend! they also give you a lot of rice and comes with a soup. yum yum for 8$ ...I would definitely come back for some pho!

5 stars for their deep fried spring rolls! They are delicious with a nice crispy wrapper and perfect amount of filling. Had the combo B with pork hash, tiger prawn that came with two spring rolls on rice. Pork hash was flavorful but I could do without the tiger prawns as it was under seasoned and was encased in like a beef ball. Comes with a side of salad to counteract against all the meat but... more

I've only had the pho here and it isn't bad. It really is between this place of Petit Saigon just down the block. This place is cash only while Petit Saigon takes card. Price is right and it's a no-frills pho restaurant. I give it one point less than Petit Saigon as Petit has a bit of an edge in flavor, for me.

Best Spring Rolls in Town, with the Best Price!

Bau Chau's spring rolls are awesome! Where else can you get a huge spring roll with lots of stuffing for only $1.75??? I hope the owner is not reading this and raise their prices. It was rainy Saturday in Vancouver. I was craving Pho. First time here. The restaurant looked contemporary from the outside so we chose this place vs one a block away. Solid pho place. $6.75 for small or $7.25 for large. The pho was hot, generous meat portions, and plenty of noodles. Everything was fresh including the sprouts, lime, and chili pepper. For a Vietnamese pho restaurant, this place is the best!

Spring rolls are hand-made and top quality. You can also buy them frozen in bags of 10-20 if you ask. Noodles are good, soup is flavorful.

It was my first time at Bao Chau and I really enjoyed it!
I ordered an iced coffee, spring rolls, and bun bo hue (half spicy). Vietnamese iced coffee is always good because it's strong. The spring rolls were made fresh and crispy, the order had two rolls with fish sauce for dipping. Their bun bo hue was delicious.

I grew up eating here, so I might be a bit biased, but I LOVE Bao Chau! The owner is also very nice and remembers my whole family. The food is always consistently delicious and cheap!

My favorite is the spring roll and the fresh limeade. Now that I've moved out east, nothing compares to Bao Chau...that's why all of the NJ Pho places only get 4 Stars, and Bao Chau gets 5 Stars! :)

With all the raving reviews on Yelp I came in with high expectations but it was just kinda...meh!

As always I ordered my Bun Bo Hue and my coworkers ordered their regular pho. It tasted different than the usual BBH I was used to. I absolutely love this place. There are only a few things that separate Vietnamese restaurants apart, like the broth they use for their pho and the spring rolls.
