I'm sorry to say, my experience here wasn't a very good one. The people were friendly and did their best and the server was polite and kind... But the food was not good.
I have had indian food all over (Canada, States, England, etc.) and know usually you can't judge a book by its cover when it comes to indian...

I've been coming here for about 15 years, and have eaten in the restaurant/done take-out more times than I can count.
It's definitely gone down-hill. I intially tried to place an order for take out on Fri July 25th - the phone number was out of order and there was a message to call a cell phone if you wanted...

This restaurant is not good at all. I wonder if this restaurant has a licence. The owner says he cooks best indian food. I had something which is junk food, and the worst indian I have taken so far. I think, he probably does not know how to cook good indian dishes. He lies. Secondly, I noticed, he is blessed... more
The place could use an overhaul or maybe just condemn it. This is one of a couple equally bad Indian restaurants in town. Enter at your own risk. The food has been hit or miss for the last few visits but now that the protein walks to your table under its own power, I will not be back.
Restaurants are an expensive, time consuming, high overhead, strictly luxury business and to survive means having the goods. Sorry to say that Bansaree has failed. What was once a shining star in the Indian restaurant pantheon around a decade ago, even approaching the excellence of Sitar in Ottawa, it has sadly slid into oblivion. We went a couple of years... more
I wish I could go here for the Sunday buffet every week, I've been twice so far. The naan is sweet and excellent, the Tandoori chicken is perfect, the beef is great, the pilau smells great and tastes wonderful too. This is simply a consistently excellent tasty filling Indian food buffet, cannot top it or improve it in any way.
This was possibly the worst customer service I have ever received. I called the restaurant for take out and was given a price. When I asked what the delivery charge was, they told me delivery was free and that our meal would arrive in 45 minutes. An hour and a half later, they had called back three times - twice... more
Every time we go there we engage in a redecoration/redesign exercize while waiting for our food. The place looks pretty bad. But the food is excellent! The tandoori chicken comes to your table sizzling. The lamb curry is tasty and tender. The onion bhajis are fresh, crispy and delicious. I don't remember ever having been disappointed by the food. So... more
They make the best samosas around and have a wonderful and affordable vegetarian meal for two (my favorites) I do go here a few times a year but do find them to be a little grumpy and the wait can be long.
Traveled with the family. Food was excellent staff were fast and gracious. Left happy and full.
Worth the trip to St.Catharines alone.
I ordered Mulligatawny Soup and it was wonderfully delicious and refreshing. And that was the highlight of the meal, I am afraid.
Then, I ordered Buttered Bread (Parantha) and Chicken Kadhai.
The bread was half-inch thick and not well-cooked - it was like eating heated dough. I wonder who makes such a thick plan parantha (as opposed to stuffed ones...

I think they served me rotten chicken! The butter chicken tasted sickly sweet and the sauce was curdled!!! I have eaten this dish many times in the past and it has never made me sick to my stomach. The samosa was greasy and flavourless execpt for the taste of ddirty grease. I am sure the dahl was pea soup with... more
Used to love this little casual, authentic place. Last 3 visits have been increasingly disappointing. Might be new owners, but never again.
I have often gone to this restaurant and have always left full and never disappointed. The food is just fantastic. The lunch specials are a great price and you get a lot for what you pay. They always have Indian music playing softly which I think adds to the ambiance. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who want to... more
I'm sorry, I've eaten at many indian restaurants in Niagara.. Yes, the decor is atrocious and the serivce is slow.. But the taste of the chicken curry, the warm, soft naan, the vegetable rice and curry.. Delicious every time.. WE'RE ADDICTED!!
This is one of my favourite restaurants in St. Catharines! The food is always consistently high quality and the service is personal and friendly. I would highly recommend the Sunday buffet lunch and make sure you try Bansaree's excellent mango lassi.
not authentic whatsoever...absolutely horrible food...service is horrible as the man asked me to call back ....this is not authentic indian food...take a visit to brampton ontario where you can find a beautiful assortment of restaurants that are by far better...i recommend brampton sweet palace...the 20 dollar drive is worth it... more
The buffet for $12.50 on a Sunday was measly and the papadams were rancid. When the owner was told, he argued how he has been in business 20 years and is from Calcutta and that is how authentic papadams are served. He then brought out a couple of replacements he toasted just for us which were also rancid. The chicken-based... more
This is possibly the worst indian restaurant i have ever been to in my life. Absolutely atrocious.
Wonderful food. I go every chance I get. Their butter chicken is awesome. Anyone trying a new ethnic food as take-out should rethink their ordering strategy. They would have also known that the inedibly cleanser was actually a traditional breath freshener called Mukhwas. If you can't appreciate a cultural cuisine, you should not criticize what they do not know.
We were trying Indian for the first time. Take out. I had found their menu online and, based on what I knew of Indian food and my own tastes, I ordered what we wanted to try. The man on the other end, when he heard that this was our first time ordering Indian food, insisted that he would put together a fabulous menu for us instead. I asked for some things specifically anyway that I knew we... more
The food was great especially for first timers new to the cusine. Dinners for two give a good assortment of food and the price is good.
