Haven't been to The Bakehouse for some time, but one day last week my husband & I had been hiking in Capilano Canyon, and decided to have lunch at this old favorite, rather than going home. The soup + sandwich was just exactly what we needed to restore our energy!
was passing through, had a bite. food wasn't worth the price neither was the service but still was satisfying and delicious
A friend recommended this adorable eatery when I was exploring the shops at Edgemont Village, so I zipped in for lunch on a very rainy day! I bet when the sun is out, it's lovely to sit on the patio! The staff was super friendly and my lunch (an organic mixed salad and toasted brie and avocado sandwich) was superb.... more
Always enjoy sitting in the shade on the patio of The Bakehouse in Edgemont Village in North Vancouver...munching on one of their amazing sandwiches with a glass of their Good Earth Iced Tea...perhaps followed by a piece of freshly made blueberry or raspberry rhubarb pie topped with ice cream. One of our top casual lunch choices! Inside can get a... more
Wow, I went here for a Latte and a sticky bun. I ended up buying a scone and a cranberry orange muffin to take for the ride. Everything is home made in the open bakery where you can see how things are done. Great job B the baker, your the man. I would go here every day if it were... more
We had a nice lunch here after visiting Capilano Canyon. Good food, service, & patio. Try the Reuben sandwich.
Very tight space, tables jammed in; claustraphobic, noisy with uncomfortable 'screeching-on the-floor' chairs. The baking is okay but high priced as is the menu. The service is extremely slow and don't ever make the mistake of asking the owner when you might expect your food (after waiting a half hour) because his response will be rude and irritable. Just take... more
everything is wel done. Their pies are so good, especially lemon buttermilk, their cinnamon buns are a gooey delight, their scones are perfect perfect perfect and they offer a wide variety. There's a cosy setting decorated with local artist's work, great lunch spot, etc.
We ordered one sandwich, one half sandwich with a small soup of the day, no drinks. The total bill was $30. After waiting 19 minutes we asked about our order and were rudely told that these things take time. After a total of 23 minutes we received our meal. It was worth neither the price nor the time. I understand... more
I was taken to The Bakehouse on my first visit, and every time I've returned I have to go back! I add usually more than once.
They do really good good, all freshly made to order, huge coffees, and bake fabulous cakes and some amazing bread, and that includes rainbow!
It's ot the cheapest place to eat in Edgemont, but...

We travel to Edgemont often to visit family and we always include as many visits as we can to the Bakehouse. The place is small, unique, friendly, casual, and always filled with the chatter of happy regulars and welcome newcomers. This IS a bakehouse and all things baked are fresh and delicious. Special menu items for kids - even rainbow... more
I love going for breakfast here. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious.
Since we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Bakehouse Dundarave in West Vancouver, we thought it would be... more
If you go here hungry, be prepared to leave starving. Their bread is special, but it isn't worth sacrificing a slice (you just get the one with breakfast) with the other bitty portions they are serving (i.e. 1/3 of a corn muffin, not a full one, two and a half forks of hashbrowns if you get any, make sure to ask if it is included or not...it may just be one slice of bread, my companion was... more
This is one of those places that you hesitate to tell anyone about, in case it becomes TOO popular. Greater Vancouver, frankly, doesn't compare well to other cities when it comes to breakfast restaurants, so finding a place that does breakfast so well is like stumbling across Brigadoon or Avalon.
What gives the Bakehouse its head start in this regard...

The Bakehouse is a bakery restaurant that makes everything from scratch. We bake bread, pies, muffins, scones and cinnamon buns fresh for breakfast and lunch, 7 days a week. We have won awards for "Best Bakery on the North Shore" and have been written up regularly — always with rave reviews. One article called The Bakehouse "Hobbit-like, with wonderful food." Our menu includes soups and stews,... more
