From OpenTable:
Bailey’s Prime Dining is the perfect blend of cuisine and culture.
What a wonderful way to spend evenings together with friends, or to unwind after a busy day of work while traveling in the Winnipeg area. An atmosphere rich in history, friendly service, sumptuous appetizers and entrees, fine wines and spirits await you. Whether it be your business luncheon or dinner, pre...

Made reservations for my mother's birthday. Great staff, excellent food. Bailey's has become one of my favorite restaurants.

We had a small party of 11 in the Governors Room. The service was great. The waiter was funny and knowledgeable. He even gave the kids a lesson on what silverware to use for each dish. Afterwards everyone was talking about how much they loved the meal they ordered. Everyone's steak was done to perfection. The quality of food was... more
The place is a little to outdated in decor which did not affect the food nor drink. I found the menu to be diverse and the meal I ordered was okay but nothing exceptional. Overall a decent place
They have the best Reuben sandwiches been going there for years better than Dunns in Montreal.Staff were very friendly the on core is wonderful willing to go back again ,again and again!
We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to revisit Baileys for the first time in many years. Our decision was quite correct. For those that have not been there, Bailey's is located downtown right near Portage and Main. This may present problems in terms of parking, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
The interior of the building differs from room...

Excellent food, classy decor, great bar, pleasant staff. Have dined there for many years and the quality and service never vary.
Our first time here was enjoyable. Very character setting in the Exchange District Down town Winnipeg. Our Waiter was humorous yet professional and All the food was exquisite. Chicken was melt in your mouth herbed greatness, french onion soup was better than anywhere I have ever had. The drinks we did have were also great. Another really friendly exciting waitress... more
Winnipeg has the most restaurants per capital in North America. And most of the really good. When somebody mentioned that they had the most restaurants per capital I said 'what?' I was there for dinner, and it was a little cold that day in Winnipeg. I started off with a consommé made with sherry, absolutely stunning. Then time for their... more
THE GOOD: The downtown location is nice as are the bones of the building - a nice old landmark.
THE BAD: The place looks like it had it's heyday in the 60's and the menu appears to be from that era too. We had Lamb shanks which were stringy and dry. The rest of the accoutrement was very cafeteria style....

I'll admit it: I don't particularly enjoy New Year's Eve. This is not because I don't like the moments of hugging and kissing at the appointed hour, because if you know me, you understand that I love any and every excuse to embrace and smooch. I am an optimist and I live my life looking forward, so it is not... more
On December 13th we attended a family birthday party at Bailey's with reservations for over 20 people with me being the only vegetarian in the group. We sat upstairs and we had good service from the staff. When looking over the menu no vegetarian options were available. Upon request, a sheet of paper was promptly provided by the wait staff... more
The food is amazing, service is great, drinks great...but a little on the pricey side. We brought some cash from our hotel room thinking it would be enough but turns out I could only have 1 beer with my meal. But, great place, I highly recommend it.
The ambience is unique and historical and the restaurant has great lunch specials and usually very good food. Last few times I ate there the service wasn't as good and the food was ok. I intend to go back to see if it has returned to its usual great service great lunch.
I have read all the reviews for Bailey's. I have concluded that the review from TK26_12 as reviewed in October 2012, is so completely accurate that I can only add a few extra comments that are related to my experience.
We dined on Saturday June 29 and had a reservation for 7:00 pm. We were given the choice of eating...

This is a "higher end " restaurant therefore I arrived with " high-end" expectations. The decor was very nice and this restaurant appeared to fit the high end vision that I had imagined. Our reservation was screwed up and we waited 25 mins for a drink. Everyone had a different dish and my prime rib was less than impressive. I... more
Even though it's a Winnipeg institution, I find that Bailey's is overrated. They are supposedly known for their steaks, but mine have always been thin, dry and not very flavourful. As much as it pains me to say it, for these prices, you'll even get a much better steak at The Keg.
The main floor lounge looks fairly nice, but...

Building has lots of character! Very nice inside.
Food was very good when we finally got it.Our group had booked a private room which had one server...she was in over her head! Running from upstairs to downstairs the evening ended up being over 4 hours in total. The last hour was trying to organize our bills which seemed a very difficult...

This is one of my favourite lunch spots downtown. The building and decor is turn of the century and pulls you into a different time. The food is well priced for a great meal. Service has always been fantastic.
I have been to Baileys 3 times. Twice in the lounge where there is no service, not even bad. I enjoy the room, so go back in hopes that some Manager somewhere has decided to create a standard for service, so far no luck.
My husband and I had dinner upstairs and WOW! what a difference. Hard to believe that...

We met another couple for dinner here recently. I had not been here for quite a long time, but had good memories of past visits.
I was seated facing their large south windows which would have given me a nice view of Portage and Main, except for the fact that the windows were filthy with dust and grime. If the...

I can't speak greatly to the dining experience, as the only food I had was the shrimp cocktail and steak sandwich, which I ordered at the bar. Both were plenty decent but not noteworthy. But the bar was what made this place memorable: the bartender, Jason. I should also add that my one visit here when Jason was not on... more
This was one of those bittersweet occasions when a valued friend and colleague retires. Bailey's is located close to where most of us work and we decided to celebrate here. We were a group of 15. We were promptly seated at a large table on the second floor of the restaurant; note that the main floor is the lounge area.... more
Decore, menue, food, This is a very pleasant restaurant to spend your time with friends. We don't go out very much but when we go I certainly would choose this place to impress friends.
The thought of going to Bailey's for lunch really excited me. I had the impression this was a fancy place to eat. First impression walking in was a bit of confusion. We didn't know where the dining room was. Once we were directed upstairs I was surprised. There is a lot of room and the decor is a nice change... more
In town for the week and was in the mood for lamb. After getting no service at Arkadash I left and decided to try out Bailey's instead. The entrance was a bit confusing. When you walk in, there is a lounge downstairs and a staircase leading up. I wandered into the lounge area and was promptly ignored, presumably because one... more
I really like the old school character feel when you walk in, It put off a certain warmth, something I really enjoy. The food was great and my date and I had a really enjoyable evening out.I think the menu is due for a change though its kind of all over the place.Definitely will be back.
I went here with a group. We had a fixed choice menu. The service was great, excellent in fact considering we were a large group. Nice wines. The food wasn't anything special. We had a garden salad with store bought croutons and dressing that wasn't too good. I had the veal scallopene that had good flavor but was really tough.... more
Tired, old & sad covers the food, the decor & the ambiance. Where once this was a guaranteed great evening out, now it seems like a bit of a wasted space. Menu is very dated but not in a good traditional steakhouse kind of way. No imagination & sorely lacking the finesse & flavourful take of a modern day restaurant.... more
My husband and I and our 2 "kids" and their spouses had a meal here last December. We all enjoyed it SO much, and our kids have agreed this was the absolute best restaurant we've been to as yet! From start to finish, it was amazing!! We definitely plan on going back.
Good selection of tarditional foods, we;; prepared with great service at a reasonable price
I’d like to start off by saying that I usually don’t complain about my experiences in restaurants and such, but I feel compelled to share the experience I had at Bailey’s Restaurant & Bar last night.
Several friends and I went out for a nice dinner to celebrate a co-workers retirement. I ordered the Rib eye steak from the Char...

What I love about Bailey's is its' atmosphere. The dark wood finish in the restaurant gives it a wartmth and ambiance. I always thought that they did a really good job of cooking up steaks.
great character bar perfect for a upscale lunch or pregame appy - never ate at Restaurant but food in bar was 1st rate
Best Food ever! For any and every occasion it is sooo good. Great atmosphere, very romantic.
We recently attended a wedding dinner here and I have to say that the food was fantastic as was the service. Great spot to hold a smaller type function.
Food was good if you can get over the overpowering smell of mothballs while you are eating. It was a real turn-off for me. The restaurant is pretty, lots of neat furniture and antiques but the smell. I like to walk into a restaurant and smell all the delicious things cooking in the kitchen.... but sadly this is not the... more
Got in on a late flight and were pretty hungry.
Had the calamari to start (delish!) and a steak sandwich.
Would go back again. Nothing fancy, but it sure hit the spot.

Food, service, presentation were all fabulous
We had 2 entrees, 2-3 alcoholic drinks, 1 dessert and 1 app and the total was $108 - very reasonable considering the quality. I have been to 529 Wellington and found the tables too close together, food overpriced and the atmosphere not as enjoyable as Baileys. I am a local Winnipegger and if you...

I was there recently with some colleagues for after work drinks and food. The food was pretty good but the drinks and service need work. Great place for after-work drinks and appies.
Food comes from a package and the service is sloooow. Our waiter told us how dirty the kitchen was and how horrible management is.... good times.
Have had a couple of very disappointing meals and poor service here, not worth taking the chance of whether it will be good or bad THAT evening. Know what I mean?
ha ha Bailey's .. good times!!
best grilled cheese of your life- feta andd havarti and mozzarella oh my!
A well-established restaurant that everyone should try at least once.
Good food and good service. Nice decor
Little upscale and classy, (more for an older crowd) amazing food and very nice staff
We've been here a few times and just wasn't impressed with the food.
Very expensive for the kind of food they have.
We had our wedding dinner for 50 people, August 12, 2006.
Bailey's Restaurant & Bar offers these services: banquets, salles, réception, restaurant, caterer, banquet rooms.
A tasteful combination of wing-backed chairs, brass railings and a rich- colored interior set the stage for one of the more elegant meals in the city. This space used to house a Conservative Party private club at the turn of the century and the opulent surroundings have been preserved in their original splendor. The service is professional and discreet and the fare is excellent. The Chicken... more
