Dinner as channelled through a Henry James novel. Everything here is classic, from the room's heavy wood décor to the impeccable service to the real live chap tickling the ivories in the middle of the room. But when it comes to the food, Englishman Lee Parsons (ex of Claridges's) isn't content to stick to the expected-he'll trot out a saddle of rabbit wrapped in prosciutto if there's a willing... more
By day, tycoons and their lawyers huddle over briefs and jewelled ladies lunch at tables open via french doors to the sidewalk, and as darkness falls and the rich cherrywood paneling glows by candlelight (and the all-season fireplace), this piano bar is all opulence and conviviality befitting its namesake. Will not be back and will advise others to stay away. This was a major disappointment. The service was almost at an after thought level. The halibut I had had a significant fishy odor.
Everytime I come to town I must go. Hands down the best mixed drinks in the city. I just love the sliders... amazing. as is the rest of the menu. I love to take a seat by an open window and watch people go by. Service is the best as well.
We had a great dinner and loved the pianist. it was not too loud, but he made date night all the more special
Located in the Wedgewood hotel, this is one of the best places for a upscale dinner in downtown Vancouver. The service was good and the food was excellent, both the fish and the steak. It's pricey but worth the experience
The food was fantastic and the overall experience was memorable.
We would definately recomended for friends of us coming to Vancouver
Service was Ok. Food absolutely awful. Salmon didn't taste fresh and the quinoa tasted like it was made three days before. Appetizers were fair (heirloom ? tomato and mozzarella salad) it was supposed to have eggplant as one of the named ingredients, and it did. One thin dry sliced that was sliced with a microtome. Fennel and cucumber gazpacho bordered on... more
So many lovely little surprises! It was all served with such skilled elegance. Bravo!
Good food, service a little underwhelming even though waiter was funny and attentive. Left the tuna off an entree. Wine Recomended was not great. Asked for local distillers, got a London Gin. Overall a good experience , but was expecting more from a relais and chateu property.
Our lunch experience was wonderful. The service was impressive (quiet and efficient), the meal was just "so good", and the cappuccino & dessert was very delicious. I will return here again and again.
We selected Bacchus based on great reviews and Relais et Chateaux membership. We had one of the worst meals we have eaten in years. I ordered the green gazpacho. The presentation was nice, but when I ate it, it was extremely acidic, and mainly tasted of vinegar. The vegetable flavors missing. As salmon is seasonal in the NW I ordered the fresh salmon with quinoa. As soon as it arrived there was... more
While staying at the Wedgewood Hotel, we managed to have lunch in their Bacchus Restaurant. Both my wife and I share one of their thin crusted Pizzas along with a bottle of wine. The pizza was very tasty and the restaurant atmosphere was cozy. Our server was quite professional and helpful.
It's easy to under-dress for one of Vancouver's best formal lounges - this place is usually stuffed full of suits from the law courts and financial districts. The service is great and the food is high-quality west coast fare. I highly recommend trying the Haida Gwaii Halibut as a winning representation of BC seafood. For drinks, you can't go wrong... more
The food & service were excellent but we found the music, in particular the singing very annoying, intrusive and much too loud. I chose Bacchus as it is one of the few good restaurants in Vancouver where you can chat without shouting so it was very disappointing to find that conversation was so difficult. Exhausting, irritating & detracted from the excellent food & service.
We had an excellent meal here, well cooked and with a good choice on the menu. Plenty of wine options at the going rate-wine in Canada is never very reasonable even though they produce their own. Service was very friendly and efficient. Couldn't fault it.
We stayed in the adjoining hotel so came down for what was suppose to be one drink. Ended up staying in the lounge the whole time. The lounge menu food was good and they had a wide range of beer and cocktails.
Nice comfy chairs in the lounge and if you can sit next to the open windows then do....

We really enjoyed the tea, four types of sandwiches, scones, four types of dessert, Awesome service. We sat at a table neear the open windows by the sidewalk, there were lovely flowers in the window boxes and inside, Atmosphere was as nice as the tea
Not up to the standard of a Chateau et Relais restaurant. Had the foie gras for first course and it was disappointing, presented in a bowl on top of a watery vegetable sauté. My main was BC halibut which was bland and uninspired. Desert was a trio of sorbets which I am certain came from a container.
Have eaten recently at some if the new BC locavore restaurants in town and found them to be more...

Pre dinner drinks in the bar and dinner in the restaurant. We felt very well taken care of. Excellent food, great service. Check in from the vibrant manager Sarah was welcomed. Never felt intruded upon. Excellent wine list. Will definitely return
Perfect Ambiance and a fine dining experience. Enjoyed the food, champagne and piano music.
2 of us ordered the seafood salad that was supposed to have tuna, shrimp and mussels. When we told they were out of mussels (unacceptable to begin with, we thought), one of us asked for scallops instead. She was told "scallops were very expensive and they would charge extra" which we were alright with. Then the waiter came back saying they were going to be $3 extra which we were still ok with,... more
First time in. From the valet parking attendant to Great service (Kristie was amazing) to the piano man, not to mention great food, as well as the overall demeanor of the staff it was a pleasure that my wife and I ( Orange County, CA residents who have a condo in Coal Harbour) discovered a new "hangout" for us and to also bring friends to.
Definitely one of Vancouver's best for high quality French food in a great ambience. The vegetarian main was amazing
The chairs in the "bar" area really need to be updated - the seats are too soft and one sinks into them to the point that you chin is at table level. Some good guality foam support would go a long way ..... more
We have been to Bacchus on several occasions, each time the food and service has been excellent. I would highly recommend.
Bacchus set a new international standard of excellence for attentive service for female solo dining experience. A prized table near softly playing pianist/vocalist was a treat. I enjoyed lobster bisque, Trio of Lobster, scallop, and halibut, wonderful reasonably priced bottle of Gavi,... more
I have reviewed Bacchus before, but I just love this place. Whenever we're in Vancouver we make a point of dining here. We always go for a table by the window in the lounge. I had afternoon tea there. The seat and the atmosphere is awesome.
Stayed at the Wedgewood Hotel and had one meal in its Bachhus Restaurant - excellent food although had to chase waiter for wine, which is why I haven't given five stars. All waiters should know to get the wine to the table pronto, once ordered. Other than that small gripe, the meal and service was first class.
Overall everything was nice, The food was good nothing wow i had the duck breast (Apparently the Magret de canard is too expensive?? 16$ in Granville market) lacking bit of sweetness, french waiter was nice service good. the dessert for our anniversary was disappointing chocolate dome with some créme on top.
Note : for special occasion like ours they only write "happy anniversary on the plate"...

Two of us had an enjoyable lunch in classy surroundings. Service was very good. Fun for occasional visits. Rather small list of lunch options.
Thanks for great help from Miss Katie Cha with coordinating dinner details and group menu selection. Server Neil absolutely excellent first class service with appetizers, dinner, wine, desserts, coffee & tea. Compliments to the chef..... The lobster bisque & beef tenderloin were perfect. Thanks for the pianist, wow, great interpretations on every song. Well done, everyone !
The experience was great from start to finish. Top service, great food,
My co-worker and I had a great breakfast meeting, server was so lovely and pleasant. not overly attentive but there just as you needed. The coffee was a bit on the strong side, the pastries were delish. The atmosphere made you feel as tho you were somewhere special and the staff also made you feel you were special. Loved it will go back again and will tell friends. Thank you!
The hospitality, attentiveness to detail and delicious food were outstanding! The servers and chef were so helpful to provide gluten free options and a birthday themed dessert. The complimentary appetizer and dessert were so generous and lovely. Our entire table are still talking about our wonderful experience at Bacchus and we look forward to returning soon!
It was a lovely night to remember. The ambience was wonderful. It was a very relaxed setting as my gf and I were seated in booth-like table, only fancier. Everyone was attentive and the server wasn't intrusive. The food was presented well and delicious. We had the lamb and the salmon. What made the night more memorable was that the pianist took our 4 requested songs and played it so well with... more
The food and service could not have been better; however, if you want to have a quiet conversation, make sure to ask for a table away from the piano bar. The pianist was excellent and very accommodating but we were a table of 8 and were unable to carry on a conversation.
This restaurant is located in the Wedgewood hotel, a boutique European style lodging in the middle of Vancouver. Bacchus is a truly lovely location to enjoy a drink or a meal. The atmosphere, food, live music, exceptional service and overall experience make it a solid go-to location. Highly recommended.
Bacchus has always delivered outstanding meals, international-level service and a warm, seductive old-world ambience - including a wonderful selection at the hands of the piano player - without breaking the bank. Of every place in town that considers itself "fine dining", this is the one that gets it exactly right!
Center of downtown Vancouver. Part of a small to medium sized higher end hotel. Lots of business types meet here for lunch. Professional service. Daily specials. Mushroom soup was a hit. Nice atmosphere for a business discussion. A safe traditional choice. Best to book a reservation.
I had a surprise night out planned for my wife and a nice dinner was part of it. We had never stayed at the Wedgewood Hotel or dined at Bacchus Restaurant before. Bacchus Lounge at The Wedgewood Hotel has long been my favorite up-scale watering hole in downtown Vancouver. For 20+ years, I have enjoyed the exquisite ambiance of the room and the warm, efficient service of the staff. This is a place I always bring out-of-town visitors when I'm playing tour guide.
Wonderful service and wonderfully inspired food. The wine pairings suggested were spot on. We have eaten here a number of times and are always anxious to return.
Enjoy a leisurely drink in the adjoining lounge before dinner or take your after dinner drink sitting by the fire in the lounge. All in all, a most enjoyable experience.
It was my girlfriend and I two year anniversary. I took a look online for live music restaurants and this one took a shine. We started our meal at the bar with a chicken liver pate and tuna tartar and both were the very very best. I wanted a classy place to go for High Tea for Mother's Day and this was just the ticket. The tea service was impeccable. The server was polite and personable and really helped to ameliorate the experience.
Came for afternoon tea for mothers day. We all really enjoyed it. The food was great, service impeccable, and the ambiance amazing. The decor and style is beautiful however we still felt very at ease and relaxed. Definitely on my list for top places in Vancouver!
had a set mother's day menu and had a couple things come out incorrectly but the server was phenomenal, one of the best service experiences I have had ever period. mom said best mother's day ever so thank you bacchus! food was great too.
We live in Vancouver but every time we dine here it feels like we've been whisked away to a private club in London or New York. Wonderful old school decor, polished service and consistently good food. Fantastic pre or post shopping stop.
The restaurant is beautiful, I have been here many times before. We were here for lunch as a party of 4. Really enjoyed the dining experience which was largely due to the friendly and professional waitstaff. Food was very nice, halibut in season was done very nicely, but salmon I think was left under the warner too long and was on the dry side.
The restaurant staff always try their best to accommodate special request, e.g. request for a table by the window. All staff are very friendly and helpful.

Not snooty but comfortable efficiency.
We enjoyed a pre-set dinner as part of "Eat Out Vancouver". The service was excellent, the choices intriguing, the food was well prepared and very tasty and the wine flight pairing satisfying and good value. The atmosphere was wonderful, a bustling restaurant well appointed with the feel of New York!
