Very enjoyable environment, tasty food

One of our friends mentioned this restaurant - it's in a no-name strip mall int he middle of a neighbourhood, on a secondary street. We would never have known of its existence unless we went searching for a random Thai restaurant - or if our friend had not mentioned it.

first choice for authentic Thai food in Ottawa

The food here although slow to arrive at the table is always incredible and worth the wait.
The plates and presentation is always beautiful and the décor of the place is lovely.

The mango salad is must try, and the Pad-Thai and Curry Chicken are also highly recommended.

Servers very aggressive

First time here, took two bites from the dish and didn't like it. The pad Thai was way too sweet. When I asked the server to have the dish changed, she was practically barking in my face. Great food

This place is always busy so make sure you reserve ahead of time! We had the chicken skewers and they wee delicious. We also had the chicken Penang dish and the Aubergine and chicken dish. Both ok but Penang curry one was much better.

Strip mall surprise

Do not be fooled by the location. This small, strip-mall restaurant is worth visiting, over and over again. I particularly love the presentation at lunch. We eat at the Baan Thai food restaurant regularly. The food is always fantastic. Most days you will need a reservation. The service can be sometimes a bit slow. Try the soup #10. It's to die for.

Cozy Place..Average Food..Inconsistent

Quaint setting in a good neighbourhood. We've been going for the last 6yrs. It is not consistent: food, or cleanliness or service. Servers can have bad attitude at times. No competition in the area creates poor gratitude.

My bf and I had dinner here on Saturday, we had found it on urbanspoon and actually we had been recommened by a few friends.
The service was wonderful, very friendly and accomodating!

Nothing special

We ate here on a business trip. The food was pretty average, although the service was good. The food did not have the vibrancy of flavour I was expecting. It is not expensive.
I don't think I will come back.

Great restaurant, buried away along Centrepointe drive. Friendly staff, authentic flavours. So far our favourites have been Tom Kha Gai, Gaeng Garee Gai (YUM!), Pad Khing, Guay Teau Lad Na, Kaow Pad - and of course their Pad Thai is near-perfect.

Baan Thai has great food. We live in Ottawa, and this is our #1 choice for Thai food. We are not alone tho, so if you are going, be sure to make reservations!
PS - this restaurant is in the suburbs tho, so if staying downtown, it is probably a little far to go.

Baan Thai - great food, slow service

We live very nearby and frequently go to Baan Thai to eat. The food is consistently excellent, however, it is a small restaurant, is often full, and when this occurs the service/speed seems to suffer. You just have to be patient at this place, because the meals are worth the wait.

I've tried just about every Thai restaurant in the Ottawa-area and this one is consistently the best. Fantastic, authentic cuisine, a great selection of dishes and very tasty flavours. A small dining room so reservations are recommended, but well worth the visit.

Amazing Thai food in an out-of-the-way location (unless you live in Centrepointe). The Pad Thai is fantastic, and the selection is very nice. It doesn't have a huge vegetarian selection, but there is enough to satisfy. Service is good and take-out is available. Highly recommended!
