My experince at Aurora Bistro was phenominal. Located in an progressive and developing neighbourhood in Vancouver, Auora Bistro is a pioneer for fine dining in a urban setting. Resonably priced entrees for dinner range from $25 - $30 dollars. The merridale Oyster stew is one of the best dishes I have ever encountered. I also manged to visit them for brunch, must haves are the 5 spice mini... more
Ive been to Aurora several times most recently today Nov 1007 for Brunch which theyve just started serving.Brunch was outstanding. I had a smoked sablefish hash w 2 poached eggs and a buttery hollandaise. Dan had a oyama salami panini w these thick cut and crispy pomme frites. We splurged and also had dessert 5-spice cake donuts drizzled with maple syrup. Yum. Were the portions huge No. Were... more
This restaurant is just hype. Very very SMALL portions and not even cooked that well either. I went with a friend and we had the 3 courses and wine pairing set menu and felt ripped off and hungry after our meal. The duck consomme was flavourless and the lamb was leathery. We ended up going to Congee Noodle House on Main and Broadway for some cheap eats afterwards to satisfy our tummies.
Although located in a somewhat rundown area on a main street, restaurant has very good food. Chefs not afraid to try various ingredients with food creating excellent and different flavors. Wine selection somewhat limited but what was offered paired well with food. Only problem...narrow restaurant and noise level too high...need to have more noise absorption on walls and/or floors.
This restaurant has potential, but at the moment it's more hype than substance.
Contempory Canadiana fare in a modern yet woodsy room. Delightfully unpretentious food like Canada.
Knowlegeable, down-to-earth staff serving inventive dishes made from local, often organic, ingredients. Thoughtful winelist. Creative martinis. Feels like a "find".
Great tasting menus with inventive dishes focussing on local ingredients and very fine B.C. wines to accompany. Portions may be a little bit small
