A beautiful charming waterfront independent hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. Big luxurious rooms. You are welcome to enjoy an authentic ambiance in a perfect location
We booked here last minute without knowing much about the area. Once we'd explored the city we realised that this is the most interesting part by far. If you're looking for pretty side streets and family run restaurants this is the place to be. The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of space in our... plus
My husband and I stayed 3 nights here for a getaway between family visits before Christmas. It was our first time to Montreal. Our room was charming, spacious and clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and the walking, exploring, restaurants nearby, even though for us NWesterners it was very cold!
Stayed two nights. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a private bathroom. It is in a great location not too far a walk from restaurants.
The only negative would have to be the stairs, we had large suitcases that were very heavy but the lady was kind enough to offer to carry them up. Of course this is not...

Had a delightful stay here December 30/31, 2014. The hotel is an old building with lots of charm but not as charming as Naima who makes you really feel like a welcome guest! The hotel is walking distance to all the interesting parts of the old city and some very nice restaurants. Easy parking is also a short walking distance... plus
Yes, walking up the stairs is no fun with a suitcase or two. However, you only have to do that once at check-in. The benefits of staying here far outweigh not having an elevator. Old Town Montreal is walkable to shops and restaurants. We especially appreciated the ease of walking over to the cruiseship terminal after the previous passengers disembarked,... plus
Very homely style accommodation! great size room, great location, they offer a share guitar which was a nice touch!! the only negative was that we arrived late therefore didn't get to chat to anyone about location and maps for the next day of sightseeing.
My husband and I stayed here with our 22, 20 and 16 year old children. The rooms are larger than the pictures depict and are more than comfortable. It's in a great position, just around the corner from Notre Dame basilica, and you can sit at the window and people watch from your room. We even saw a fireworks display... plus
We went to Montreal for a couple days and had a wonderful night at Auberge de la Place Royale. Perfect location to live, walk and have a dinner in the heart of Old Montreal. If you would like to have a romantic night this place is the best.
This hotel felt a lot more like a bed and breakfast than an impersonal hotel. Our names were written on the door to our room. There were toys on each landing for the kids to play with. Plus the rooms are enormous!!
Spent a night on our way to Quebec City, fantastic location and very spacious rooms !!' And the hotel manager is so friendly!!! Felt like home. Rooms are large, super clean, 12 rooms only but with unique twist... Will return for sure
Im here right now with a friend and we booked it the night before coming here and were staying for three nights. first impression... This place is huge... I mean the rooms are massive. We have a full kitchen and fridge, a jacuzzi, an extra large bathroom and a massive king or queen bed am still unsure. I payed for... plus
we just spent our 3 rd stay at this hotel and it was another great week. the location, the service, the feel and it being a condo makes it so great! if you like the christmas holiday then you would love old quebec city from thanksgiving thru the holiday. we don't know how old the hotel is ,but it has... plus
I had a fantastic stay here: very nice and beautiful rooms, a lot of nice details in the spacious rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, perfect location in middle of the old town, with a lot of nice restaurants all around..... Perfect!!! I will stay here again during my next visit, sure!
We had a fantastic stay here and couldn't fault it in any way. Our room was beautiful and very spacious. Plenty of little touches that made it special - wine glasses, crockery, advise on where to eat or explore. Location is great - right in the centre of the old town and very close to a good variety of restaurants.... plus
Auberge de la Place Royale is perfectly situated in the old city overlooking the port. The rooms are extremely spacious with beautiful exposed brick and bright spotless washrooms. Definitely worth the stay!
The staff was great from our first greeting onward--attitude, helpfulness and hotel policy explanation. The location is excellent, especially for those looking for a cruise connection. We enjoyed the large room and the "non-institutional" feel of the hotel. It's bookmarked for our next time in Montreal.
We had been warned that there was no lift but it was still hard work climbing those 3 flights of stairs with our suitcases! But it was worth it! Room 303 was beautifully furnished - a huge space for hanging out. In fact we felt so comfortable there it was hard to go out! A Queen Bed not a King... plus
Located just one street south of Rue St-Paul, the one street everyone visits in Old Montreal, this little hotel was an incredible find when we decided to go to Montreal last minute. Loved the hotel and location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very central and you can walk everywhere. The main restaurant row is just one block away. I would recommend Auberge de la Place Royale!!
This small hotel is a delight. Our room was beautiful, large, exquisitely furnished. The wall behind the 4-poster king bed was brick, we had a sofa, chairs, etc. Just a lovely suite, with views out the window of the St. Lawrence River. For a taste of the past, with modern conveniences, this darling hotel is a must.
Such a sweet hotel! We were warmly greeted and felt so much at home for our two day stay. It was fun to see oour name on the blackboard on the door. The view was a marvel. Thanks so much! We'll be back - a la prochain.
Our room was comfortable with plenty of natural light. We enjoyed returning to our room after a busy fun-filled day of sightseeing In Montreal. It is located close to so many sites and interesting places for patisserie, lunch & dinner, historical sites, public transportation. We highly recommend this Auberge.
What a genuine find right on the river in Montreal. This adorable Auberge has gigantic rooms and couldn't possibly be in a better location. Our package included breakfast ... scrumptious croissants and pastries delivered to the room in a covered tray and fresh and delicious for two days (there were so many we couldn't eat them all! Mini cereal boxes,... plus
I stayed at the Auberge de la Place Royale for my birthday and had an amazing night. The room was beautiful- french doors opened into the bedroom; lovely large dining space for entertaining friends and a cozy, comfortable tv area. My husband and I are both from the area, but booked a night there as a anniversary short get-away. Extremely friendly and personalized reception (names are on each door), free bike rental, guitar, toys for kids, palatial rooms...Perfect location for tourists, right in between Pointe-à-Callières and the Science Centre. Room 303 got us a perfect sunrise view over the Old... plus
We loved our stay at the Auberge de la Place Royale. It is in a beautifully maintained historic building. The rooms are large and charming, and there was a chalkboard on the room doors welcoming the guests. It was the perfect place to stay when visiting historic Montreal.

But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China"

We'd stayed in Montreal about 2 weeks earlier in a poky little "hotel" the other side of the old town, so we were looking forward to this one with some trepidation. What a pleasant surprise! We had a huge, absolutely palatial room on the first floor overlooking the St Lawrence, with an ensuite bathroom that was almost as big as... plus
We had a suite on the top floor which was large and lovely. A bottle of wine and an in room continental breakfast were included. We were taking a cruise to Boston the next day and could see the ship from the window. There's no staff on duty at night and check-in was self service but it worked out well.... plus
This was an excellent find. It is right in the Old Port, short walk to everything in Old Montreal We only stayed one night as we had a dinner cruise on a ship on the St-Lawrence. WIFI was great, room very large with a fridge and a microwave. Large bathroom. All in all, excellent. Only hiccup is that our room... plus
Very nice. Close to all the tourist attractions and restaurants in Old Montreal. Could be sign posted better as the entrance is just a " hole in the wall". Very comfortable with very large rooms, but, no elevators. If you are on top floor, Whew !
I found the hotel very dirty, which made for an uncomfortable stay. We discovered our bed was actually broken when we tried to sleep. My husband was up till 5am because of it. They did give us 1/2 off our room because of the bed, which is fair.
There is a train that goes by right outside the window each...

Our room was gorgeous, spacious and gave us a great view of the river and all the activities along it. Perfect walking distance for many of the area attractions and great restaurants. Staff were very nice and helpful. This was our first trip to Montreal and it was wonderful, and this hotel was a large part of our great experience.... plus
Very pretty, old charm....location was great and it was very clean. However, the bed was terrible. Mattress had seen way better days. We could not sleep, mattress springs were protruding and it was impossible to sleep even dough we were really tired. Too bad, since the rest was nice. Also, some complementary water would be nice too.
I kind of feel sorry about this review. This hotel could have been so good. Unfortunately it let's its self down with basic stuff. It has no lift, not a big deal if you have a porter to carry your case up three flights of stairs, but they don't. Huge comfortable rooms, but could do with more conscientious cleaning service,... plus
The hotel was nice, our room was spacious, bright and overlooked the port. However, the room comfort was significantly impacted by lack of wifi signal in the room. We stayed on the second floor and we had to stand in the hallway to use the wifi. We are from the U.S. and being our first time in Montreal this was very inconvenient for us. Also, the refrigerator in the room was quite noisy. At... plus
This hotel is in a great area, the staff is nice, our room was very spacious, bright and overlooked the port in Old Montreal. However there are some things that need to be addressed. We found this adorable 12 room auberge at the last minute. It is on a street that follows the St. Lawrence river. Upon arrival, the front "lobby" was very small but we were greeted by a woman that was very friendly and helpful. We were told at that time that we were on the third floor which is really the 4th floor since there are no rooms at ground level. As soon as she said we were on the top floor, she... plus
We liked this place much more than our other two hotels on the larger trip. The room was charming and spacious. It was very comfortable for us. Our A/C was out the first night, but luckily it was cool outside and they had it fixed the next morning. I had read that we could expect to carry our suitcases upstairs... plus
Room is quite spacious, no breakfast is available, but this can be achieved nearby. TV set is one of the 70-ties. Street noise is apparent. The young girl at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. Parking can be done a aprox. 300 m/yards away at a parking lot. No elevator is present. Despite this all sounds not so... plus
Since no breakfast is provided there were boxes of cerial and small snacks in the room but at a charge (inexpensive). We felt those should have been complimentary. Great location for exploring Old Montreal with great restaurant choices just a couple of blocks away.
This is a thoroughly charming boutique hotel right on Rue de la Commune in the heart of Old Montreal. From this location you can explore the old streets east, west and north or you can walk along the waterfront to the south, in many places reclaimed from its industrial days and perfect for recreational walking or biking. There are four... plus
We enjoyed our one night at this location, in spite of its drawbacks, which were the old non airconditioned halls and staircases, the need to walk up to our fourth room since there was no elevator, and the fact that the car needed to be parked a few blocks from the hotel. We knew of these details before we booked, and so we were not surprised. We chose this hotel, because the idea of staying in... plus
Auberge de la Place Royale is the perfect place for a get away to Old Montreal-everything is within walking distance: Old Port, Notre Dame, St. Paul Street. Good for families, too.
My husband and I were passing through on the way to Maine. We were fortunate enough to get a reservation at this little gem. It is in the Old Town area. We had a large room, comfy bed and a huge bathroom. This place has charm. It is not cookie cutter and neither is the décor. You do have to... plus
Large room. Huge remodeled bathroom. Delighful place. They had phones -free calls to North America- umbrellas to use and return, a washer/dryer you can use. Even bikes in the basement.
Good location near the Old City but not right in it.
quite charming, pleasant little hotel, rooms are nice and comfy, very easy to deal with staff and responsive, we enjoyed our short two day stay.
The staff were very accommodating and eager to make our stay enjoyable. The suite was spacious and comfortable. About a 15 minute walk if you want to watch the summer fireworks from the clock tower beach. Parking is a bit difficult because it is limited in the old port. We chose the science center lot (24 Canadian per 24 hours), about a 10 minute walk, but you can park outside the hotel (if a... plus
Room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Overall, 5/5.
In old town Montreal. Beautiful room in older building with lots of character. We enjoyed our short stay. Enjoyed the "guest" guitar.
I loved staying here. The room felt so homey and warm. The room was quite clean and spacious. I loved the fact that they had a toaster oven... We bought some bagels and ate them the next day. We kinda needed to considering this was February and nothing was open for breakfast in old montreal. The staff was only there... plus
Really enjoyed our stay here. The king suite was clean, spacious and comfortable, though the decoration was a little tired. We would recommend this hotel as good value for money. Though they do not... plus
We had the king suite on the top floor and it was awesome. Plenty of space for my daughters to watch their videos in the other room while I read and had quiet time. Great location for us first-timers visiting Montreal. We took Via Rail from Vancouver BC to Montreal and then to Old City Quebec. It was like taking a train to Europe.
It was nice. We enjoyed our stay in old Montréal. It was good good good.
This is a nice little place on the quay side street in Old Montreal. Friendly staff, nice big room. I'd probably look for a place on a side street if I went to Old Montreal again, but having just been in Quebec City, Montreal seems much less interesting: much closer to new Montreal, more traffic, fewer good, quiet restaurant choices.... plus
Great location, great room. There was a guitar in the lobby for whoever wanted to play it, that itself made my day!! However, I wish I had known, and informed by Expedia, that this was not an actual hotel, but something more akin to B&B's and AirBnB. When I drive into city with my big truck full of kids and their junk, I expect a $300 room to also provide a valet and/or bell service, there was... plus
To be honest, I only went to the hotel to sleep. This is a good thing because there are so many activities and places that you can visit near the Auberge that it makes sense to spend most of your time outside. The staff was friendly and helpful, the place was clean, the room was very big as well as... plus
Very nice old building with ample sized rooms. We stayed on the top floor with a view of the water. The only 2 drawbacks - no elevator and no continental breakfast. The young lady at the desk Stephanie was extremely helpful. Would recommend for younger folks who don't mind lots of stairs or stay on a lower floor.
We stayed here during the Montreal Grand Prix. A very easy walk to the Old Port to catch the ferry to/from the island for the race. Our room was on the 3rd floor (no elevator). Very, very spacious. Sofa, chairs, coffee table, plus a 4 poster king sized bed. Lots and lots of restaurants within blocks. We will most definitely stay here again next time we attend the Grand Prix.
This hotel is in the prime location of where you want to be. The room was very comfortable, but if you're expecting a modern place forget it. The ambience was wonderful. I have to caution anyone who cannot do stairs. I never had a problem with noise but before I stayed, I read some who reported am noise.
Wow ! Very friendly staff and lovely clean and well presented rooms ! Great views they..... Even have a few bikes hanging around that you can use for free!! Great place highly recommended . .......... Worth every penny spent
Had a great experience at this hotel, has a vintage kind of feel. Check in and check out is very simple and they welcome you very warmly with your name written in chalk on your room's door. The room is huge, the beds are comfortable and the spa is excellent. It is in a good area around old Montreal where... plus
We stayed here last week for 4 nights. Pros: Great location and price. Huge room and bathroom. Easy check-in/check-out. Clean room with mini fridge. Cons: Noisy from the street/garbage trucks in the alley. Thin walls - could hear everything from rooms above and beside. Tv didn't work (but we didn't come here to watch tv anyways!). I would recommend this... plus

I planned to stay here, but my travel companion became very ill and we needed to cancel our travel plans. I called the hotel at 8 am that day to sort things out as quickly as possible. The location was perfect and it was clean and spacious.
No elevator but we knew that going in. The bed was very hard, and there was not enough light to read anything.
We had rainy weather and so
wanted to read in our room but couldn't...too dim!
I liked the exposed brick wall and the quantity of windows, the room was very bright and spacious.
I didn't like how the continental breakfast was very small, not enough food given the price of the stay.
La situation en centre ville, l'espace dans la chambre, la gentillesse de l'accueil
L'absence de lift, pas de pdj, beacoup d'espace inutilisé et inutilisable
It is a beautiful place! Great location... Very comfortable bed!! Love
it!!
The noise in the ally is not great!! The city needs to know that trash
pick up should not happen before 8 am!!! And neighbors should be
mindful of other people when coming in late!! Nothing to do with the
hotel it is awesome!!
Very personable staff, great recommendation of going to Maison Christian Faure and Olive et Gourmando. Wonderful neighborhood! Couch was made up as second bed as w requested.
Rooms could use some refreshing, and thin walls (lots of sounds, from other guests to outside).
Clean, very friendly, relaxing, easy access, Charming!!!Very
Very and charming, clean and friendly
Great room, excellent location, cafes and bars right downstairs.
Very close to the Old Port and all the activities we wanted to do.
Very quaint auberge. Would go back.
When we showed up, there was no staff. There was just an envelope with my name on it taped on the front door.
Beautiful old building, great location, huge room.
Staff could have been friendlier, could have been a language barrier. Fruit or muffin in room would have been nice touch.
Le cadre est magnifique, l'accueil personnalisé, la chambre spacieuse et très bien chauffée, le calme
Le personnel part tôt, vers 18H,après il n'y a plus personne.
We loved the comfort and historic charm. Beautiful building, exposed brick walls, spacious room, huge windows. And the location is awesome - 2 min from Notre Dame and Place des Armes metro. Great value for money.
The WiFi is pretty patchy, and the breakfast wasn't that great. Yogurt and bread left out with a toaster. I've had much better b-fast in cheaper hostels.
Friendly staff, warm welcome, location, charming atmosphere. It's closer to a B&B than a hotel.
The back rooms can be very noisy. Also, the room air conditioner is noisy.
It was a very inviting, warm, and comfortable atmosphere. A very
personal feel with great rooms at an unbeatable value!!
No complaints!
The Top Queen Suite on floor 3 is lovely, extraordinarily spacious, and tastefully appointed. It faces southeast, so the morning sun gently awakens you in the morning. Its location on the river, right in the heart of the art gallery section of the old city, is perfect for dining and shopping.
The mattress was a bit less comfortable than my own, but perhaps others would not notice that. They...

Charming old style, huge rooms & comfortable beds. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Very little - remember it is not a hotel, it's a B&B.
The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and large enough. The Auberge was situated in Old Montreal and keeps a good old atmosphere. If I visit Montreal again, I will consider staying the Auberge again.
Old-world charm, beautiful room, very relaxed atmosphere, tremendous value and location, location, location!

So quiet, very intimate.
Bathroom without doors, not so intimate. (room 302)
Big rooms and great ambience.
Too much noise from a neighbouring hotel.
I really loved the old antique feeling as soon as I walked in. It was a very calm and welcoming environment. I was looking for some peace & quiet and I definitly found it. Thank you so very much again
Loved the location and the overall look and feel of the hotel. Room was large and comfortable.
Early morning noise in the alley but this typical of many downtown hotels.
Was great to have a wonderful view of the old city. A very convenient
place to launch on our exploration of both old and new Montréal. The
Auberge was a great place for a winter weekend getaway.
The rooms were very spacious, and the staff very friendly. Location was great.
Breakfast was rather not quite as good as it might have been
The room was large and comfortable. The location was very convenient to shops and restaurants. It was a great value for the money. The internet connection allowed us to keep our business clients updated while we were away from the office.
I liked the heritage and how it had been renovated.
The room needed more lamps. It was hard to read. The heritage had been mostly maintained, and the owner was quite new. It would be nice if the doors placed there in the 1960's could be changed to look more heritage.
Location, comfort and size of room. Old City location on waterfront. Ability to come and go without restriction, given coded entry system. Tea and coffe making in room.
Very hot in room when we arrived and sign saying NOT to touch the air conditioning system. Casual surprise from rection desk when I requested that the hotel activate the air con for us, even though we had been shown to our...

Nice location in Old Montreal, hotel had alot of character.
At hotels in the US one expects to see a person at the front desk upon arrival. At this hotel the person available was not on site which caused only a slight problem. Just might have been helpful to know this ahead. Also the 5:30 wake up by the train was only a small inconvenience. Overall great spot.
I like the check-in method. Very nice decor, warm and inviting!! A step away from old town!!!
It does get noisy if you face the alley but wasn't that bad, maybe because we were exhausted.
Nice old building and interior.
Room too cold, Snow patrol working whole night
Very friendly, welcoming, but not "in your face". Nice big room with fruit and a fab brick wall. Good snacks downstairs.
Internet was down, but you could get it in park across the street. Fixed the next day.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and was perfect for out stay in Old Montreal. My husband and I stayed here for the night on our 10th wedding anniversary. We loved our room and the cozy feel of the entire hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to return in the future. Very romantic :)
A charming well located inn.
Very accommodating staff, and well appointed rooms.
Nothing.
Everything. The energy of peace, space, comfort and luxury. The joy of being between walls with a soul and a history. It was so clean and crisp. A 3 floor Inn situated in an ideal location in Old Montreal. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops and historical sites.
