Great value and great location.
Everything is close by and at walking distance.
Good service and bar down stairs isn't too bad.
Room was comfy and clean - though the step up into the bathroom nearly killed me a few times :)
Overall good stay.
The hotel is very conveniently situated in the heart of Jasper. It has a great Old World charm. The staff were most helpful. The only downside is it located over a pub, which is on the premises. Once the pub closes the patrons are very noisy for quite some time into the wee hours of the morning. This didn't help... more
Probably the best value in town.
Since I was traveling by train and planning on video filming the train action around Jasper yard/station, it was the perfect location. Within walking distance of the action, but without the noise from the idling diesel engines.
Restaurants and shops close by i.e. everything within walking distance. AND .... the price was right, too!
Stayed here on my first and second visit to Jasper. Great location bang in the centre of it all! Rooms are nice - have everything you need. Good service, near the pubs and restaurants all walking distance. Would definitely be my first choice going back. Great value for money too :)
Central in town
Room was very tiny with not even a chair and/or table.
Soft bed like sleeping in cloud. Posh decoration. Right at the center.
Limited bathrooms and toilets.
Very helpful staff indeed.
No drawers or space in the room to store clothes or anything else. OK for one night (which was us), but hopeless for a longer stay.
The onsite bar/night club Food
Decor The smell in my room couldn't figure out what it was but not great
Hotel very well located downtown. Nice view of the mountains. Room very clean and fancy. Big plasma Tv screen. Near, you have restaurants, grocery store, laundrymat (very practical) if you spend more...
Only inconvenience - some people let the door of the common bathroom bang during the night. No respect for those who have a room just in front of the washroom.
This hotel has been here for years and I had never thought to try it before. I was greatly surprised at how well kept and clean this place was. The rooms are very clean and had that old charm about them. The room we had was small but very adequate. No it didn't have a coffee maker but the coffee... more
Very clean and well maintained. Location was fantastic and free parking.
No lifts to carry bags upstairs. No breakfast in the room rate.
Good bar downstairs (friendly staff and decent food). Clean and comfy overall and really handy for the train station.
Rooms are very small, shared bathroom facilities clean and good once you figure out the plumbng, but only one per floor. No lift.
It was handy to shops and restaurants as well as the train . It is clean and comfortable. As there is no jug provided they let us have one for our morning cup of tea.
I hate the size of bath towels in most places now . Why do they have such stupid small towels for people paying good $ for accommodation ? No tea/coffee etc in room/
Rooms very comfortable and clean even the one without bathroom. The shared bathrooms are very clean. 3 different options for dinning: bar, restaurant and lounge. Free parking. Very nice old style ...
Breakfast not included, but there are good offered options of meal.
Stayed for one night on a driving trip of BC and the Rockies.
Check-in was fine and the staff helpful.
The room was spotlessly clean and spacious.
There was a large TV and great view of the nearby mountains, not sure what the view would be if on the other side of the hotel.
The only issues were no tea...

Arrived late at night and the front desk were helpful, got two rooms at very good rates. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, could not complain about them. The attached bar and restaurant had a decent feel to them, breakfast was very good. Good location near the heart of Jasper and there was parking next door.
The hotel may not...

The hotel itself is in the centre if town, which is handy for grabbing dinner, but as almost everywhere you go from Jasper you drive to, now that I've been here I would opt to stay further down the road in a nicer hotel. Rooms at the athabasca were clean, but on the small side. I had a room with... more
The Atha B was a really nice hotel and for $100 on labour day weekend when every other place was $2-300 it was great. I didn't have a private washroom and there was no elevator to the 3rd floor or AC but it was clean and the staff was great. No pool or fitness center but they did provide a... more
I would not go again! The staff they employ is unprofessional and rude! Very noisy downstairs with "questionable" individuals outside trying to sell me things that i dont need! I think that says it all!
We arrived for breakfast and watched the hand made spaghetti coming out of the machine by the bar in front. Fun. Good food, served hat and immediately. Friendly staff.
Historic place, dating back to 1929. Didn't stay at the Hotel, but the facility seemed very nice.
We loved this place. Good price. Walking distance to everything in downtown Jasper. Friendly staff. Manager even moved his truck so we would have a parking space. Room was very nicely decorated. Using the bathroom in hall was no problem at all. Had a sink in room. Room was very clean and hotel was well kept up. We were on... more
loved the room and bed, amenities. No fridge or coffee maker, but that didn't bother us. Good value for Jasper, walking distance for everything, one block. Noise wasn't really a factor, ear plugs might work for a light sleeper with the windows open. We faced to mountains and main street. Over all the renovations were good, but the restaurant and... more
If you're looking for basic accommodation at an affordable price in jasper, the athabasca will do fine. The rooms are cozy and the bathroom is down the hall if you pick the cheapest option. Nevertheless it's clean, friendly, and a good choice if you're not planning to spend much time at the hotel anyway.
It could have been the 1950's [in the nicest possible way] ,the ambience and essence of the whole hotel was in no way 2013. We liked it ! Our room although very small did have a washbasin and TV, and was clean and comfortable and quiet. Having to go down the corridor to access the [locked when someone was in... more
We stayed here for a few nights. Although the hotel is not to my personal taste with the dead animals everywhere the beds were nice and comfy and the bathroom was also quite spacious.
We were staying above the nightclub however and the music was so loud we could not sleep and the floor actually shook. We wish we were...

This hotel was a real surprise. From the outside it looked very basic but as soon as you walked inside it was like stepping back in time. For $107 we had a beautiful, well furnished room with a hand basin and shared bathroom facilities. The foyer had moose, elk & caribou heads on the walls as well as stuffed eagle... more
My Mom and I stayed here for 2 nights in June 2013. We weren't sure what to expect due to some of the reviews here, but as we have a fairly low budget, it was perfect at $109/night.
We LOVED it! Our room was on the top floor, cozily made up in kind of an Old West parlour style. The...

Old style well done. It sits in the heart of Jasper close to all facilities. It's an older style pub venue, but the rooms have been done extremely well. I had a queen room with shared bath and I could not fault it. Just what I wanted. And at a great price for the location. Staff were very friendly and... more
The hotel is old and has lots of character. It is bang in the center of Jasper town, across the downtown and the railway station. Fantastic location. One drawback is that it does not have elevator so taking your bags up and down is a problem. I like the hotel in all respect except the noise at night especially around... more
This was an ok stay. The room was about $165 plus taxes. It was clean and good views of the mountains. The staff were helpful and friendly. The downside was the lack of facilities in the room....no hot drinks, no fridge, and breakfast not included. I do however think this is a typical price in Jasper. You may find more... more
I have stayed here twice, in a regular room, and the huge suite with private balcony... (I recommend the suite, it is such a cool space!) Both stays were fantastic, staff were accomodating, and the pub and restaurant downstairs were convenient (though, the hotel is in a prime location for exploring town - so many options for going out and dining... more
The hotel reviews below really put me off this hotel before I even arrived. However, my opinion is completely changed. Although the hotel is really old, it has a charm and appeal that really made the hotel feel extremely homely.
The hotel were extremely accomodating to our tour group due to road closures on the way to Banff, from what...

Central location, very clean, friendly staff! The Athabasca Hotel is reasonably priced and nice accommodation in the heart of Jasper. The hotel is old, but well preserved. Rooms are small but comfortable. A great place to stay!
We had no problems with this place. The room was clean, the staff were friendly enough and the wifi was reasonable. The ice machine was convenient. Good location and free, onside parking.
Would stay here again.
When we pulled up to the hotel I had visions of this hotel being a dive as the exterior resembled the old hotel in my home town, but was very impressed with the hotel. I had a suite in rm 100 which was very nice and at the end of the hallway, so we didn't have any noise issues. The... more
Considering this is probably the oldest hotel in Jasper, I'm surprised nobody has written a review on it.
I only stayed there for one night recently while passing through on my way to BC. I chose it because it had the cheapest room, $70 + tax at the time. You can tell this is an old hotel since the room I stayed in was small but had a comfortable queen size bed and in room sink. The whole...

My Husband and I booked or first Jasper getaway ever. Had a babysitter come for the wknd to watch our 3 kids. I travelled to Jasper with my husband and a friend for the weekend before NY from Edmonton. Loved our stay at the Athabasca Hotel in July 2012. Our family drove the Icefield Pkwy and just needed a place to stay for one night. This was perfect as I love staying in independent local hotels. The Athabasca hotel is beautiful, ornate and quiet. If you do not mind taking the stairs - there is no elevator - this is the place for you. We had a great stay, 4 nights in late August. We arrived in town without any reservations, an especially dumb thing to do when the rodeo is in town but what the hell. Yes, this hotel is in a great location. It's right in the middle of town and you can walk to everything.

Another good stay Canada Day long weekend, in room 108 with shared bath this time. Met our needs - clean room, comfy bed and pillows, large sink. No view. This place is right on the main part of the city center with convienent parking around the back. Beds are very comfortable and the room is very clean with a nice bathroom. Price is a little higher than I usually pay at $150 but then everything is higher in Canada.

Stayed in a room with a shared bathroom. It was very clean and comfortable and a brilliant location in the town. Great value considering it didn't cost much more than a hostel for 2 people. Staff were very helpful and the free access to the town's aquatic centre was a great deal.
This hotel is right in the center of Jasper National Park. Walking distance to everything in town.
