My friend and I stopped in here on a whim last week. We were in Greektown and figured what better place in Toronto to have greek food. The place was not very busy so we were a bit skeptical at first. We sat outside in the back, and the service was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful.... more
I having been going here for a couple of years and love their food! It is a family run business, and you can see their passion. It is my favourite authentic Greek restaurant on the Danforth. The prices and portions are amazing! It may not look like much on the outside, but give the food a try, you will no... more
On the Danforth. Certainly worth checking out. We usually like to go after one of the greek parades since it is closer to Broadview and we avoid the rush.
A treasure spot that we almost didn't want to share.
Take out and sit in but it is very casual, quaint and on the small side. Appears to be a patio seating area so will gave to go back when it isn't -29C to check it out.
The food is traditional Greek and so good. Very adequate portion sizes. You...

I've been eating here for at least 20 years. Food is delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Booze is also reasonably priced. Service is usually friendly and always fast. Atmosphere is homey. Ma and Pa type place. Patio out back during the warm months. And you're close to Chester subway station (just west of it.) An added bonus is listening to... more
I'm gobsmacked reading some of the negative reviews of this place. Asteria is a great, unpretentious, family-run place that serves some amazing food - fresh salads, fantastic chicken souvlaki.
Service is friendly if not instant.
The decor is nothing to write home about - old framed pictures of Greece on plain plaster walls and the most basic of cafeteria tables...

Asteria is one of my favourite Greek restaurants. It is not pretentious and doesn't pretend to provide anything but good wholesome food at a reasonable price.
Restaurant is terrible overall! I can literally not believe all the other reviews here...it doesn't make sense. There are many delicious places down the street and this just doesn't compare! Disgusting food, horrible service, building is horrible with dirty dingy stairs leading down to a horrendous bathroom....stay away!!!
The food is horrible. Service is sad and slow and not very friendly. Many options nearby that are delicious and fun! Don't think so... more
Asteria is a neighborhood eatery with a nice back patio area. You're welcome by family members as if you are part of the family. Food is plentiful and tasty, prepared simply. Prices are very reasonable. If you're in the neighborhood, try it for lunch. If the weather is nice, ask to be seated in the patio area.
This is a family owned place and the food is really good. The prices are very reasonable and food is ALWAYS good. My husband and I go there at least four times a month and have tried everything on the menu and have NEVER been disappointed.
We asked a local along The Danforth to recommend a good Greek restaurant. He sent us to the Asteria. From the outside, it didn't look like our kind of place but we went in and found a lovely patio out back away from the hustle and bustle of the Danforth. The food was probably the best Greek food any of... more
Best souvlaki on the Danforth.
Located conveniently just up the street from Chester subway.
The service is hit & miss, sometimes when it's busy it might be slower than usual.
Overall, great place, friendly service and most importantly DELICIOUS food!
We had a great meal here. We shared 2 meals between 3 of us and the food was very good and the price was amazing.
My wife and I have been eating at the Asteria for over 20 years, we love it!
The Asteria has the best souvlaki on the Danforth (Toronto's Greek neighborhood).
Menu is limited but stick to what they do best: souvlaki (chicken and pork) and chops (lamb and pork). Unlike some Greek restaurants on the Danforth, the Asteria does not pre-cook...

The Danforth "Greektown" area of Toronto was once lined with places like this: unpretentious, reasonably-priced, family-run and all serving much the same basic Greek menu. Over the years, almost all of these restaurants have morphed into fancier chandelier decor, servers with uniforms and attitude, double the prices...serving much the same basic Greek menu as ever. Asteria is certainly your... more
I had dinner there one evening during the week and walked right in. The food was great and the music was awesome. We tried to go back on Saturday night and there was a long line.
I've been coming here for at least twenty years an I'm not even from Toronto. Whenever I come to town I always make it a point to eat there at least once.
The Souvlaki is the best I've ever had anywhere. Also try the Saganaki... It is just fantastic!
The inside is big time dated so try and eat outside...

This is the best Greek restaurant on the Danforth, and that is saying a lot. The menu is great. The food is simply wonderful. The service is charming. I have been there many many times and will return again and again.
Let's be clear. We go for the food not the atmosphere or service.
It's cheap, large portions and consistent quality keep us coming back.
The cooks are old Greek men that know how to cook meat! Soooo good.
If it's authentic, great, Greek food you're after and not an overall dining experience, I give this 5 stars for it's category...

Didn't rock my world, but met or exceeded my expectations...I would go back. Atmosphere is better than most on the strip.
I know this family owned greek restaurant since 2005 and we go there at least once a month. The quality was always great and the prices didn't change too much. It's not big, not fancy, but it has a very "family atmosphere" and also a patio where you can eat in the summer. The last time we went there was... more
This is a family restaurant with matching decor. Its a little frozen in the 80s, just like the rest of the Danforth. There are a lot of average things on this menu. But their beef tenderloin is incredibly tasty. Also this is the only place on the Danforth that seems to put garlic in their tzatziki, you will wake up... more
I went to this restaurant with a few friends. We each ordered different dishes, and tasted each other's food. The souvlaki was very good, as were their generous portions of Greek fries. I thought the fried calamari was too greasy, but it still tasted great (and we still ate every last bite).
The environment is very casual, so don't feel...

Had their famous souvlaki dinner. Seriously, one of the best places on the Danforth. But, the portions are huge so go with an empty belly. Solid service with some of the oldest wait-staff in Toronto. This place deserves high marks.
A little more pricey but still good
Best veggie pitas and tzatziki anywhere!
Gigantic gyros. Excellent food.
The best family style Greek Resto on the Danforth.
mmmm, Greek, this place is busy all the time. 2am looks like dinner time. great food.
love the chicken solvlaki dinner
If you ever make it to Toronto and love Greek food, this IS the place to check out. It's a very small restaurant with an outdoor (smoking) patio in the back. The name is Asteria, not Astoria, and it is a Mom-and-Pop type eatery. The prices are not high, but the food is absolutely the best. Everything from their saganaki to taramou, it's the real thing. The souvlaki there is perfect and the... more
Toronto seems to be crazy for chicken. And at Asteria (not to be confused with Astoria), the popularity of the chicken souvlaki bears that hypothesis out. A small family-owned restaurant on the Danforth, Asteria makes no claims to formal dining. Instead, it aims for casual, honest food. The chicken souvlaki dinner ($9) served with greek salad, rice and potatoes on a clothless table is sure to... more
