If you want the best tortellini in Halifax and not spend your child's daycare expenses, Argyle has the best tortellini pasta dish - try it! Add lots of mushrooms & sundried tomatoes for the perfect meal.
We came here two evenings in a row,as we had so much fun the first night.
Both times we sat on the outside patio...there was a steady stream of patrons, including 3 Bachelorette parties.Always a good sign to see a place so busy!
The food all looked excellent! Over the 2 nights we tried lettuce wraps with chicken and noodles(amazing!) and...

So it was a group experience and there were two servers given the size of the group. We lucked out on our side as our server was much more attentive and genuine...while the other server was just an unhappy camper and not very helpful. I ordered the fish tacos and was assured that there would be no cilantro as I... more
The service was good. The lamb burger was very good. The chicken club was good. The Argyle offers outdoor dining in Downtown Halifax.
Ate there in March and again in June. Had a variety of food including their pizza, scallops and haddock. All were very good!
It has a really good beer selection on tap and good wines too. The service was impeccable and the summer patio has an awning to keep the rain or sun rays at bay.
Can't wait to return...

I bought a 2 for 1 flights of craft beer experience 4 samples of craft beer (decent sized servings) for $10. A good price and a cool experience. I bought 2 and used 1 in December, then went to use my 2nd one this week. We had our beers and just as we were finishing up the server said I... more
When was the last time this place was cleaned or maintained? Like seriously guys a coat of paint would really go a long way here, not to mention the bathrooms are borderline unusable. Great spot for cheap drinks if you want to be around young kids binge drinking and puking everywhere but for a decent experience go elsewhere.
I ate dinner here for a friend's birthday. We were greeted right way and seated. Our waitress was helpful. I ordered the "everything burger" and it was absolutely MASSIVE. Would highly recommend it, one of the best burgers I've ever had. No complaints about this restaurant.
I've been to the Argyle on several occasions, each time hoping that it'll be better and each time ending up unhappy with my decision to go. The biggest issue I've noticed is the slow service; servers are slow to greet anyone who has just arrived and take orders, and the food takes an extraordinary amount of time to arrive at... more
I had lunch at the Argyle today and was severely disappointed in the food I had. The menu has a lot of options (all very pub style), and I settled on a chicken club sandwich with fries. The chicken was cold, and it was hardly good pub quality (something I could have easily prepared at home). I went with fries... more
The Argyle Grill served good food, plenty of it with great service and sitting outdoors on a sunny day made it a perfect spot for lunch. The menu was pretty average but solid. It was really busy but everyone around us seemed to enjoy their lunch as much as we did.
My partner and I go there all the time. The service is terrific. Food is fine, good value, and we really like the fact that there are vegetarian options -- we ususally start by sharing the mediterranean platter.
I attended with a large group from work the other day for lunch. This enabled me to see and sample the vast majority of the menu and gather opinions. I had the Asian Chicken Salad, which was really not that great (portion was a little small, the grilled chicken was dried out, and not a variety of greens... they simply... more
First time to and first day in Halifax. Family was happy and walked in. Immediately greeted with a smile.
My family had a very good lunch. The wood burning pizza was fantastic, enjoyed the Louisiana chicken and burger as well.
We visited the Argyle while visiting Halifax. Not sure why we settled on this place when there are dozens of other restaurants for blocks in either direction, but it had a nice outdoor patio so we made it our pick. The service was pretty good but the food wasn't spectacular. We both ordered the wood fired pizza but I've had... more
We have tried this pub several times for food and drinks thinking our first and second experience's were a "one of" Turns out they just have terrible service and food. It is a pub so you can't expect the quality of food to be much more than deep fried everything, i'll let the other reviews on poor food speak for... more
My Boyfriend and I recently ate at the Argyle for the second time, why we went a second time?.. Because they were the only restaurant with open seats on the patio (wonder why?) The first time we had dinner there the service was a TERRIBLE! we waited ages for someone to acknowledge us finally when we got menu's it took... more
Almost every weekend I visit the city I finish it with a eggs benny brunch at The Argyle! Also the stuffed frencg toast is to die for!
My husband and I went here before heding to Neptune. I was craving their lettuce wraps and spanakopita pizza! It's consistent every time...you get what you're expecting! Love all the feta and spinach and dill, the wood oven makes it so delicious! Great place to meet up with friends, the atmosphere is always friendly and the service is good.
I really appreciate the seafood at Argyle. This restaurant is a great semicasual dining experience and is perfect for a pre-theatre meal since it is located just steps away from Neptune Theatre.
The food wasn't bad but my $18 lobster ravioli should not have been mushy canned lobster for that price. My husband and son ordered $3.75 chocolate milk and it was white milk with chocolate syrup for flavor (it all rested on the bottom of the glass). The rest of the family had pizza, fetticini and club wrap each at $13/$15... more
You know when you don't know what you want or where you want to go... this is a great choice..... varied menu, good quality food, good service all at a reasonable cost.
Went here for dinner on a shopping trip with my mom and a friend. The salmon was delicious! The service was very good and the downtown location was great. Recommended to us by our hotel concierge.
Ate at the Argyle for lunch today. I had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with fries. It was very good. Ordered a bottle of Coors Light with meal but was not impressed that it was not cold certified ( I would have ordered draft if I have known this). Service was overall good.
We went with 15 other people to celibrate my wife's birthday. The wood-fired pizza was amazing. The service was wonderful. (even allowed us to bring our own cake)
A few friends and I recently met here for brunch as we knew there was a patio.
The food was average, nothing spectacular, and the service was just ok.
friendly staff, good food in an area of downtown restaurants. we found this spot after making an extra effort to avoid the ultra toursty places around the waterfront. we were warmly welcomed and well fed.
We generally eat at the Argyle before attending plays at Neptune Theatre as the restaurant is next door to the Theatre. Good food and a neat drink menu, we always try something new from the drink list. Love the lobster ravioli!
I had steak sandwich and fries, I wasn't asked how I would like the steak, it was tough and cold - the fries were terrible
We were looking for a nice dinner with our kids and had dinner at the Argyle Bar & Grill. The food was ok, the steak good, the ribs just ok. It was no special experience and we suppose there are better restaurants in Halifax.
For years we would always enjoy the Argyle patio for drinks, but never for food. On Canada Day we were there for drinks and decided to peak at the menu, we were pleasantly surprised that it has been completely reworked, excellent burgers, pulled pork poutine, all in all a great meal on a hot day. As quality of food is... more
Last Saturday night, a few friends and I were inspired by the warm, sultry summer evening, so we decided to party like it was 1994. Turning back the clock back to our University days required skimpy tank tops, drinks before going out, and of course, a rooftop patio destination. Our choice for the evening? The spacious patio at the Argyle Bar & Grill, which had always been a favorite.

Been there a few times and always had great service. Like the food and drinks..
The food and service are always good, but nothing exceptional.
There are many fine restaurants to choose from on Argyle St, but the pesto brushetta salmon special really caught our eye. It was outstanding. We also ordered the steak & scallops special, and the steak was cooked to perfection, the scallops delicious. The salad that came with was OK, nothing special. But served all together in a nice presentation with... more
I enjoy all the food at the Argyle - great choices in salads, seafood... want to get in the car and drive there to eat!
If you want consistency, this is the place to go. Wood-fired pizza's are excellent. I have been here numerous times. Great food, great service. Not much more you could ask for.
Went here my first night in Halifax. The server we had was really good and a lot of fun. We sat in the lounge side and enjoyed it very much.I had the Pork ribs and they were very good !! I will be going back before I leave ! Cheers !
Very nice setting. Food was good and loved the setting and old wood.
We ate here with some friends one evening. Service was very good and the food was delicious! Prices are a bit high though.
Had dinner with spouse at the Argyle and we were both pleased with the service and food. The pizza was really tasty. Prices were decent also.
food was very good and service as well. However we were seated indoor next to a shelf of bottled stuff that had seen better days - shelves were extremely dusty and bottled stuff needs to be updated. Kinda gross.... more
I stopped in the Argyle after work today on the hunt for some beers and appetizers.
With my tasty Corona I ordered some Greek Wings that the waitress sold me on. Oh my were they good! So good in fact that i'm going back in a few days to get some more. This was totally unexpected as I never really heard good things about the Argyle other than their pizzas and their desserts were top notch.

On the positive side, the Argyle makes really good burgers and pizza, and a tasty Caesar salad too (or at least I thought so until I read the other review!). I also like the Louisiana Chicken Sandwich, even though it’s spicy enough to make my nose run. But here come the negatives... The bruschetta is hit-and-miss: sometimes the bread is soggy. It’s nice to sit on the patio in the summertime,... more
I shutter to think what Gordon Ramsey would say about this place.
Not only have I heard that the kitchen is filthy but once when eating a Ceaser Salad there I was unpleasently surprised when I bit into something that I thought was a bacon bit and found out it was a piece of glass from a beer bottle.
It shattered in my mouth luckily I didnt bleed to much. But hey they offered me a free beer as...

It's got very good food, and specializes in pizza. Their pizza is thin crusted and baked in a wood fired oven. They also have lots of pasta, soups, salads, sandwiches. On the main level is a restaurant and small bar area. There's also an outside patio in summer.
Very friendly staff as well.
The Argyle has some good lunch specials. My favourite is the half pizza half salad plate. Their pizza's are pretty good and priced reasonably.
Things to avoid at this place: the seafood chowder (too salty and watery) and the patio. You can't get there any of the good beers, and not even the pizza. Why? Beats me.
Ate there numerous times this past summer, and ALWAYS had a wonderful meal and top-notch service! Salads and pastas and pizzas are second-to-none! Give it a try; you won't be sorry!
Nice relaxing atmosphere, good food, great service.
Great jumping off point. Have supper there and then go to Neptune for a show.
Kind of dark trendy bar feel which I'm not to keen on. Food took long to come, well not really. Just to the point where I was starting to think "Where is my food?" I only had a burger but when it came it was a tasty burger.
Oh yes.........one of my #1 spots.. wood fired pizza oh my heavenly.. greek!! Love the night time lighting too.
An easy choice for an affordable, decent meal. Get a woodstove pizza.
I always have a good meal and a good time.
hit or miss- quite slow service, but often good food
Visited too often on burn out
Especially for brunch in the summer.
Great food and the coolest street-level patio in the city.
Excellent staff! great fun everytime I go, i highly reccommend this place in old halifax
Halifax has one of the best Maritime bar scene. The night life in this city is simply amazing. With the university campus so close to the downtown area, there is always something happening and tons of things to do. This is definitely one of the most happening place in town. Nice atmosphere and great drinks. The company you get is simply awesome, Halifax girls rocks.
Excellent little restaurant, a great place to stop and have a bite at! I loved it, great atmosphere and awsome sirvice!
Great location for dinner and a drink on the patio in the summer. Often quite busy later on but for a good reason. Good atmosphere and staff
I like the idear of the summer on the roof patio and the food is really good for a bar and really good selection of drinks. Good music and lots of dancing late at night.
The argyle offers great drinks and excellent food. The food is presented in an attractive fashion. This restaruant offers vegetarian alternatives which are delicious and my personal favorite. The argyle is the a great place for lunch or even a mid priced date. At night the argyle offers DJ and dance in the basement.
With two patios and a friendly setting, the Argyle is a popular spot to enjoy a martini, munch on a gourmet pizza from the wood-burning oven, sample from the international menu and relax with friends.
Outside, in the summer, there is a large patio on a sunlit strip of street, and cheery, green, umbrella-topped tables. Indoors, the atmosphere is casual, with lots of woodwork and warm yellows. Each table has its own lighting and candles in the evening, and the booths are especially private. Pizza baked in wood ovens is this restaurant's claim to fame and it boasts one of the city's most... more
