A Kitsilano favorite, Annapurna's small dining room is hung with dozens of white, red, yellow, and orange rice-paper lamps that emanate a soft, warm glow. The menu is all vegetarian, but with the amazing combinations of Indian spices, herbs, and local vegetables, the dishes are rich and satisfying. Appetizers include samosas, pakoras, and lentil dumplings soaked in tangy yogurt with chutney.... more
Annapurna has been gracing the corner of Burrard and Fourth for the past 17 years, but seems like it pre-dates Bob Geldof and nickel bags. The 1993 reviews prominently displayed from both the Sun and Province rave about the food, and you can take solace in the fact that both the traditional menu and décor are likely unchanged since those halcyon days. But the vegetarian menu is reasonably... more
Paper lantern lighting and darkly mirrored walls almost allow you to forget you’re at the busiest intersection in Kitsilano. Owner Suresh calls them “Lady’s Fingers” but by any name the bhindi (sliced, spiced, and sautéed okra) is a treat ($13.95). Try entrées (around $12) with a side of paratha—whole-wheat bread stuffed with peas and potatoes—instead ($3.50). Samosas ($4.95 a pair) are served... more
I am an indian fanatic.. love the food, the culture, etc. Our first time going to this restaurant.. right off the bat felt like it was a restaurant attempting to be modern with their decor, was not succeeding in anything but looking like a large dining room at ikea. Even by looking at the menu - it was not authentic... more

Normally Annapurna is a busy spot. Tonight it was empty and I see why. The service was almost non-existant, the food took forever to be served and when it arrived all dishes were cold. The waiter acted as if it was an inconvenience to reheat it. This is not the Annapurna of old. Save the hassle and find another vegetarian... more
Used to be better years ago. Something happened, probably change of ownership

Really tasty vegeterian indian cuising, slightly expensive but the naan bread is really really good. I've never had anything I didnt like there and Ive been there at least 4 or 5 times.
Food was really good, but expensive for a small serving.
Good, vegetarian, very spicy
Pretty good - although their meals are pre-made so you can't order any changes to the dish. Overall its pretty good. Is it just me or do they serve the Nan to everyone way before the main dish arrives??
Best Indian-veg in the city, so-so-ambience. reasonable price
Good Indian vegitarian and decent prices

We also had the Kabuli Channa Masala chickpea curry and the Navrattan Korma mixed vegetable curry both came served with rice. The curries were fragrant and not... more
