This is not our first visit to Anna Mae's. In fact, we have been there twice in the past week (of writing this review). That should say something about the food served there, not to mention the service. Our older son has been visiting and we wanted somewhere reasonable to eat. We settled on Anna Mae's for dinner. When we... more
Not easy to find but once you get there it is really worth it. Excellent soup! Liked it even better than the chicken. Of course the pies are fabulous, picking just one wasn't easy.
I arrived, along with three friends, to try this small town restaurant about a 20 min. drive from my home. We arrived at this restaurant at about 12:40 expecting to be seated within a few min. but we waited until shortly after 1 PM to be escorted to our table. This is a large restaurant but the service was very... more
We have visited here several times. The service is always good, and the food is home made. It can be busy at times so be prepared to wait. There is a bake section located to the side. The pies, breads , cakes and sweets are all homemade and delicious
We bikes from Elmira and had a great lunch my wife was amazed with the Broasted chicken and I had the pork schnitzel which was quite tasty. Topped off with a piece of Strawberry pie! This a busy but efficient bakery restaurant would definitely recommend it
I like that the food is simple and family friendly. The broasted chicken is very tasty and all the food tastes authentic and like real home cooking. I love the apple fritters for dessert. Always fast and friendly service, though the wait to get in can be long (it's popular with the retired folks who sometimes even come in by... more
Not very far from st. Jacobs or Waterloo, this Mennonite restaurant has the best broiled chicken ever. Try it with coleslaw and their homemade cheese buns .... Something to die for. I recently went to Anna Mae's for breakfast and the food and the service were very good.
However, I bought a pie and took it along for a later dessert that same day and the raspberry custard pie was delicious!!!
I would make the drive again just for the pie.
I also noticed that they are now serving gluten free...

This is out in the country a bit but well worth the trip! The chicken dinners are wonderful and tasty, which is the main reason we visit. First of all, I've got to love a restaurant where one of the vegetable choices is sauerkraut! We loved all the food here because it tasted like it came out of our kitchen, that is, if we had the capability to broast chicken at home. The cheese buns were so good that we had to buy a dozen in the... more
Have been to Anna Mae's many times.
Their broasted chicken has to be the best anywhere we have tried
Fresh cooked to order, large servings and reasonable prices. Also pot roast, fish, meatloaf, fresh bakes pies, cakes, breads, buns, pastries and cookies are equally excellent.
During a drive in the country on Saurday, we stopped and enjoyed the small meal. I had 2 pieces of broasted chicken (leg and rib) scalloped potato, carrot and a roll for $6.99. We were impressed with the service of the young ladies.
Today we returned but I was disappointed. I got the meal deal which consisted of potato and...

We went to Anna Mae's on a weeknight for supper with friends. We knew that it had a good reputation in the area, but it was a forty-minute drive out into rural Mennonite area of southern Ontario. The weather was accommodating and we had an enjoyable leisurely trip, arriving without problems (thanks to our GPS) in Millbank at Anna Mae's... more
I had the Ribs, Cole Slaw and potatoes with a cheese bun for $6.99! Followed up with pie of course.
Be prepared to wait a bit on busy weekend lunches.
Well, now we know what all the fuss is about!
After hearing about this place for a while now, we decided it was time to give it a try... no regrets at all!!
We both had their "meal deal" (soup or salad, meat, potato, side and desert) for $12.50!!
How can you beat that!
It was so good, we took...

Very very good breakfast for a great price.
good service, quaint ambiance, and the best baked goods for miles around.
I have gone here many times to eat but had never written a review. Just love this place.
I noticed this time that they don't have as many items throughout the restaurant that you can buy so that part has changed. The food is still wonderful.
It does seat quite a few people but we like to go early so...

Anna Mae's is a small Mennonite restaurant that was started by one women and grew with her family. Every time someone comes to visit I tell them about this restaurant and the Broasted Chicken. My wife and I stopped for lunch at Anna Mae's. First word of advice is to get there early as it can be quite busy. We had chicken for lunch which was very good. For dessert we had pumpkin pie, which my wife described as the best pie she as ever had at a restaurant.
I went there knowing like I have many times before that I would enjoy everything I ordered . Will not really I chose a pie I thought I would like and I didn't I didn't know what to do . Will they did they took the partially eaten pie away and gave me a pie I new I would like... more

After having a delicious early dinner at Anna Mae's on our way out into St Jacobs countryside, we bought even more to go home with. Lupper (Lunch & Dinner) we had chicken (crispy and no-fat) crunchy topping, mash potatoes "Yummy" and coleslaw, and a cheese bun. Also had the spicy chicken breast sandwich and fries, both delicious and "med-hot". Our... more
People are right that there are items that on the menu that are not the best.. but if you stick with their "Hot Meal Features" you can not go wrong. Alright, but nothing extraordinary. Lineups and wait times for a table are normal, especially in pleasant weather, as many people, especially seniors, seem to travel from the surrounding areas to dine there. Dining rooms are simple, as are decorations and tableware. Service is usually adequate to good, although you can expect to wait for food when it is busy. Menu... more
We drove by this place and thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised with hearty comfort meals and scrumptious pies. They serve "Broasted" chicken - yum yum! and their pies are to die for. They also serve breakfast meals too.

Came to Anna Mae's after St. Jacob's. in short average food and very salty. Broasted chicken ( breaded chicken but roasted) was ok but everything was very, very salty. So were the soup, fries and and sausages. Probably not healthy for a lot of the seniors eating there.
Soup ( or salad), dinner with sides, and good coconut cream pie...

Confusing menu and the food is of low quality and the service is terrible. We waited in line for one hour and the waitress took forever to arrive at our table . They have no gluten free items on the menu .
I went here with my mom and my sister. We all found the menu confusing and didn't really understand it. But the waitress was really nice and explained it to us. We all got the small portion of broasted chicken, which was really good. Also good prices, except I wish the dessert was included with the small dinner. We were... more
Basic good old fashion food with great service anfd prices. Worth waiting in line for a table but you can browse the shop and bakery as you wait. good parking available, no alcohol served. Was our first time there but certainly not our last. Hope to try the breakfast menu next time around. worth a detour to find great eats.
I recently visited Anna Mae's Restaurant and bakery and was blown away with the friendly service and fresh home cooked meals. We love Anna Mae's! I always start off with a bowl of Potato and Ham Chowder and a freshly baked cheese bun! We went to Anna Mae's for supper on a week-night, so although it was fairly busy there were some empty tables and we were seated immediately. In beautiiful suburban Millbank Anna Mae's is famous for pastries especially pies. Service is usually good but can be a problem when a bus tour appears. We went there for breakfast during the week and was very pleased with the food and the service. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff are always pleasant. The only issue was trying to get a second cup of coffee but other then that it was all good.
Thank you for an awesome dining experience amongst great friends and such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere! Awesome dinner, awesome dessert!!
We drive from London (about 1 1/2 hours) to eat here.
I always get their Broasted Chicken. It is so yummy!
The prices are very good and their staff is friendly.
Also, our meals are served quickly.
The bakery is a place that I should stay away from but never do.
It is an easy, quick drive from Stratford.
If you are looking for tasty home style cooking this is one of the best choices. The desserts are wonderful too! Good food good service good prices makes Anna Mae's the best place around!
Getting a piece of coconut cream pie from annamae's is a real rip off. I always thought a pie was cut into 6 and not 7 pieces.
They now cut their regular piece of pie into half a piece of pie but charge the full
price.

Food is honest homecooking. It is plain so don't expect alot of spices and gourmet type stuff. Service is really good. Expect lineups as people love this place.
Anna Mae's has the best food you will find – anywhere! I have never had a bad experience dining at Anna Maes always greeted with friendly staff and lots to look at and see while waiting can't leave with out bringing goodies home; I have ate at many chain restaurants and never get continued satisfied meals as I do at Anna Maes
