Standard room, a little old but nice. Great restaurant.
I felt very rushed when I checked in and wasn't given the Wi-Fi password?
Very old and outdated. Pictures on the internet were deceiving. Halls smelled bad. I don't think that the sheets were clean. We had it booked for 2 nights so even though we could not get refund for the second night, we just left.
Not a 5 star hotel, but comfortable and clean. Can't believe they still use a key and not a card to enter rooms.
The Ambassador was probably a pretty swanky place in its day. It is a classic. It was spotlessly clean, the beds and bedding couldn't have been better. The furnishings were appropriate and the big flat screen TV was the icing on the cake. There was some noise from other people's doors closing and toilets flushing and the like but that is to be expected in an older building. It just added to the... more
Nice hotel for single night stays. restaurant was good but a little expensive. Nice to receive a 10% off restaurant on check in.
Room was clean; hotel staff pleasant and helpful; parts of the hotel (bathroom, pool ceiling) could use a facelift.
pleasant stay-comfortable room. staff were very friendly
Around 12:00 midnight til around 230 am..was awoken several times with the loud music coming from the night club Keep the bass down... dont mind people having fun but it was the loud booming bass
Guest were very helpful. Italian Restaurant was great. Overall, wonderful experience.
Everything was great, this was our 4th stay at the Ambassador.
Quiet & Comfortable hotel with great staff, would definitely stay here again
The room was comfortable. We declined maid service for the first night but asked for 2 more sets of clean towels, which were not provided. Perhaps we should not have declined the cleaning of the room because it took us a long time to get a clean glass on the second night. It seemed to us that we would at least have towels and clean glasses, even though we didn't need a full cleaning of the room... more
Main lobby appeared at first glance clean and bright. Hallways were hot and stale with doors kept closed. Pool area in need of renovations! Exercise room was disgusting and smelled like an unclean mens sweaty locker room. My executive room was clean but in need of renovations. Wallpaper peeling off the walls. Carpet peeling off the walls as well. Website promised renovations and every room i... more
Just a friendly suggestion that the Embassador Hotel would benefit by renovating the carpets and rooms, having an elevator, and redoing the whole pool area with a hot tub and new pool. The Embassador is a beautiful structure and with a little makeover can make such a difference for business and comfort.
The Ambassador was clean and convenient to the highway.W e were on the first floor and were able to back right up to the door of our room. Staff was polite. Breakfast was adequate and included good coffee. Good value for the money.
For an old building, the current renovations have greatly improved its look and atmosphere and will look forward to seeing it when completed.
There is a night club attached that plays music loud enough to vibrate the walls. Breakfast was terrible and the staff did not see anything wrong. Better off to sleep in your car.
A better breakfast service would bring in more visitors.
Wonderful Italian Restaurant to complement a great stay!
Would stay again, close to good shopping sites!
I was in Sudbury with my daughter shopping for a wedding dress for her. We stayed at the Ambassador cause it was the closest to the shop. When we got in the motel we were greeted by a super friendly staff. We felt welcomed. We then went shopping and coming back in they asked us how are shopping went. Like who cares like that? We then went swimming and after on our way back to the room, the... more
They smoke in the lower kitchen as they prepare food, I wish I was joking.
A family member had gotten married at the Ambassador and they were not accommodating whatsoever.
The food is ok at best and the rooms had a very bad odour.
I do not recommend staying here. I especially do not recommend this place for a wedding.
We stayed at this hotel while on a two day business venture. The front desk staff was very friendly when we arrived. I had hoped this would set the tone of the experience. When we entered our room, there was Tim's garbage in a drawer, the remote was missing and the room, although appearing clean, did not have the feel... more
I was a litlte diasappointed with the breakfast. I went downstairs around 0830 and asked for bagels and was told that what was there was all that was left. Many people eat past 0830 there should be food for everyone
Great hotel. Staff excellent. in a good location. lots of parking.
Friendly staff good food at the italian restaurant. Found it quiet dispite being close to a busy street
As always, great service, slept great as always, totally recommend it
Ok stay .good for the price.close to major facilities.
I booked this online and found that the photos of the rooms must have been taken from another hotel. I had the executive room with the king size bed. The bathroom sink was from the 60's and not the one shown on the web site. The only thing close to the photos shown on the web site was the bed and the bathroom mirror. I would not recommend this hotel for the price. The outside of the building... more
This concrete-encased, very old hotel is situated between noisy main roads. There is no grass, gardens, or plants to break the heat of the concrete. The best I could find to sit outside and wait on my party was a bench against the exterior wall near the entrance. The room fixtures are old. You are handed a key to enter the room, The toilet had no lid. The bathtub fixtures were circa Rockford... more
I took my daughter, her husband and my 9 year old grandson on a road trip to Sudbury. I began looking approximately 10 days before and found out that several hotels I would like were already booked. The Ambassador looked clean and hence I booked it. I am sure it was a grand hotel in its prime, but oh my goodness it is in rough shape now...worn old carpet, no elevators ( I have a cane) and no... more
Did not like the cleanliness of my bathroom. It was old and in need of updating.
While everything big still works a lot of the small things are pretty worn and in need of replacement: a plug that doesn't fit in the bathroom sink; thin and rough towels; bed top foam/cover that is rucked and bunched.
Love the Ambassador Motel. Sleeps like a baby. Staff is great. Very conveniant. Small restant for amazing and fast service for breakfast. Totaly recommend this place
Our room was not in good condition. Walls were chipping. Floor and bathroom were dirty. We had to change rooms as we could not handle the smell of the first room and fixtures in bathroom were off the wall. When going to the pool we were not told where to turn on the lights as the room was in total darkness when we arrived. I will not be staying here again.
I found that the staff bent over backwards to make our stay pleasurable. Would highly recommend this hotel. :)
The bathroom had not been cleaned. The faucets were dirty, and there was dried tooth paste on the sink. The area where the coffee pot is kept was dirty, the coffee pot was terrible as it spilled water all over the counter when you poured it. I asked the hostess to have someone clean the bathroom, the sink was cleaned but the rest was not much better. Countertop was not clean.
I was worried about staying there because all the other hotels were booked. But the staff was great. Hotel was clean and very quiet.
I believed I was paying for two king size bed! Staff said their were no two king size beds in any rooms.
The Hotel itself was fine but the rooms spelled like mildew and the fans kept us awake...thank you
Checked in late at night, room was ready and front desk very pleasant. Received towels and keys to the pool area even this late at night - needed to unwind. My wife and I had the area to ourselves; hotel was not busy. Enjoyed a good contineal breakfast in the morning..
The hotel was clean, quiet, comfortable. The in-house restaurant met our needs. The hotel was dated, needed upgrading and was located in a remote location but the service was acceptable. The price was reasonable in comparison to other close by options.
although staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was dated, and there were hairs in the bathroom, bed was very comfy and clean stale smokey smelling hallways no elevators
My husband had booked a suite for our 30th wedding anniversary. Even after reading the critics we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. As soon as we walked into the room we we're very disappointed. It was dirty & disgusting. Will never go back and would not recommend this hotel.
First impression: a parking lot that had not been seemingly plowed or salted all winter (in comparison to the hotel I stayed at the night before, just across the street). I was checked into a room on the main floor, which I quickly rejected and asked for a room on an upper level. Coming into the room I walked into... more
This room was old out dated smelled crumbs in the beautiful sheets. I don't think they were changed i am totally disgusted and had to pack up all my stuff and go to a different hotel because I didn't want to stay at this one. I also found a used band-aid in the washroom...not happy at all!
A friend and I went to the Sault for 3 days. We're students so the price was excellent.
The staffs was mostly friendly except for the younger gentleman.
The pool was dirty. The filters were most likely not maintained or changed properly. The sauna had no instructions for it's use and was not left on. If you desired to use...

We stayed here on a whim and will not be back. This was our second stay and things appear to have deteriorated since the last time. We were only able to get a room on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. Since we were travelling with two kids this was a big challenge for us with all the... more
Location for shopping

Rooms need updating; shower water temperature kept changing drastically from very hot to cold; very pricey for what we got; continental breakfast had few choices; lobby was being painted and we were not told beforehand to expect renovations.
location and staff were excellent
\n\n
continental breakfast was not so great but sufficient.
We booked a non smoking room. This ground floor room was absolutely amazing and had two entrances, off parking lot and one inside. The decor and furnishings just blew us away, it was like a fantasy suite style with glass table desk, queen four poster bed. Just beautiful. But then we opened the door to walk through to go to... more
The site stated it was renovated but I do not know where it has improved...certainly not the rooms. The room had a very dirty carpet and the bathroom was not any better. We slept in our clothes and did not want to step on the carpet with our bare feet. The muffins at the breakfast were so stale they crumbled... more
I stayed here for 4 nights. The highlight of the hotel is the staff. The hotel is tired but I would go back, just not on the party (Friday) night. As as smoker, the first floor rooms with a hall door and outside door was very convenient. There are tons of places to eat and stores nearby.
the service and smiles and cleansiness.
\n\n
Just the people going threw the halls in the early morning making noise but that is expected since you can't really sound proof the room and hallways.
pool was nice and staff was friendly
\n\n
lack of ash trays fridge microwave breakfast and the partying in the room next to us
Great place, stayed 3 nights here and got laid, by 3 different cougars every night, this place has the hottest girls in town. What a place, great food, along with action packed bar. The bartenders were fantastic, What a party place. Will be back next month.
The staff is friendly and outgoing.
\n\n
The rooms are outdated and the beds were not comfortable at all.
Friendly staff.
\n\n
No soap two days running. No thermostat (and freezing room on arrival).
Carolyn was very accommodating with regards to required adjoining rooms. You even extended the pool hours to accommodate our late check in with 4 children dying to swim. We went on a weekday during March Break so I cannot attest to noise complaints from the bar. But the continental breakfast was substantial and the pool was so nice and warm.
Location - the first hotel as you enter the downtown area. It's about a half hour drive from the airport. There's a strip mall across the street with a Winners, Chapters, Shoe Company, Staples.
Room - dark, dated, but clean. In need of major make-over but besides the aesthetics, it was fine.
I stayed there on a Monday night for...

No mention on site that there is a VERY LOUD bar/dance club attached to hotel. Did not like it one bit and the bar on the main floor went until after 2am. the room was nice nothing extra, clean and a good bed. When it came to check out i noticed that they were charging me per night for my dog since we were there 2 nights, they charged me over 56 dollars, i have never seen that before and i travel with my pet all the time way over priced they... more
Unfortunately, this hotel suffers from my number 1 pet-peeve that I just can't overlook, SMOKE! And this hotel has no shortage of it. As soon as you walk in the door it is detectable and once you go up the stairs to the rooms, hold your breath. That said the staff are very courteous, friendly and accommodating. There is a... more
The hotel for the most part is clean. Staff very friendly. Room was fine except for the bathroom....mouldy tiles! I like a firm bed, but this one was overly so. The breakfast had slim pickings and reports from other family member's staying there indicated the muffins were stale and the juice was watered down....I opted for instant oatmeal and tea.... more
Pretty basic, but it seemed more genuine than the cookie cutter Holiday Inns/Hampton Inns, etc. No iron or board in the room, but they were happy to bring one up. Nice people on staff. Quiet at night. Bed & quilts were very good
I stay here a few times a year for a couple of nights at a time, for me the location is perfect for business. You can tell the hotel has been around a while as it's getting a little worn in areas but on the whole it's fairly comfortable, rooms are clean and staff are friendly. I've tried the restaurant... more
Pros:
Front desk people were terrific to deal with
Restaurant had amazing food and good service.
Cons:
Plain soap/shampoo
Bar can get loud if you are in the first few rooms closest to it
Some areas of this hotel are very seedy, some are very nice. The lobby area is small and very dark. Breakfast is adequate but there is no where to eat it. Very few chairs in the lobby area. The washroom on the lobby level is awful! Part of the adjacent night club, it looks like the back stage set of... more
Stayed here for one night during a long roadtrip so my expectations were few. I had a couple of concerns from reviews here, but literally nowhere else (within reason) to stay the night!
First of all, the hotel is definitely old and showing it's age. Although the lobby maintains it's charm, the hotel hallways are 40 year old, dizzying patterned...

Shower head had a brown ring around it, tiles where dirty; wallpaper was peeling at the edges, bubbling up at the seams and was ripped all over the room. This hotel is like a castle !! Very antique-like feel , cozy and comfortable ! Beautiful Lobby and very quaint rooms ... Bathrooms are adorable ! Definetely a different feel then a regular hotel, but in a good way !
Was leary when making this reservation for a Saturday night, as I had read the other comments about the night club, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We had read other reviews of this hotel about noise and I was reluctant to stay here but succumbed to pressure as other family members were there. Will not happen again. We reserved our rooms as a group for my daughter's wedding. The staff was courteous, kind, helpful and so friendly. We all felt at home. I stayed here from one night after an exhausting trip on a long weekend to return my son to his college. I walked in without a reservation and asked for a last minute deal and received $40 off the advertised rate. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel presents itself nicely however this hotel really needs a lot of upgrades. Attended a two day meeting at the Ambassador. Rooms were clean and the beds super comfy. The rate was really food too. Meeting services wer comfortable, professional and spacious. Dinner at the on premis restaurant was very good. I'd recommend this property to all my co-workers, friends and family. Staff was most attentive and professional.
The staff was very helpful and kind! They go out of their way to make you feel at "home". The beds are super comfortable and I had a really good meal in the restaurant! I'd certainly stay there again when I'm in Sudbury!
The staff was courteous and helpful but the hotel facility itself was very disappointing.
