For years we would find our way to Canal and Mulberry in New York City to enjoy wonderful Italian diners at Lunas. Unfortunately Lunas is gone, however I have searched for Linguini with Clam Sauce that comes close to Luna's. I think that Allegros is so close it might be better. At $18.00 it is a wonderful reasonable priced experience.... more
What a great meal!!! Perfect Pasta...perfect service. Knowledgeable star to help pick a great anniversary dinner. Thank you for a memorable event!!!!
Me and my girlfriend walked into Allegros this passed Sunday seeing as nothing else in Little Italy. I had the pork and my girlfriend had the Veal marsala both were tender and full of flavour. The friendly service was a nice side!
My Group dropped in for a Business lunch. It was a simple, home like environment. The Staff was very attentive and the food came quickly. The restaurant filled up for the lunch crowd and we still felt like the only people there. The Calamari appetizer was great with a full sized portion to share. I had Pasta and it was... more
We found very friendly staff at this pleasing Italian restaurant in Little Italy. A nice quiet venue with a soft décor. The menu, while small, had a complete selection of traditional Italian dishes.
The zucchini frit was excellent. My Caesar Salad was fresh and delicious. My friend had the Minestrone which was plentiful and hot. We ordered the veal saltimbocca...

My family and I dropped in last night for what turned out to be a disappointing and depressing dinner. Allegro is a small restaurant with about 10 tables and when we arrived about two-thirds of them were full. The chairs were uncomfortable and that set the tone for a bad night. There was one harrassed woman server on duty (she... more
The restaurant was quite busy with only one server
My gazpacho was ok and my partners Cobb salad ok
The veal tortellini was tough and chewy. We sent it back
My trout was overlooked and the risotto lacked flavour
After some salt , pepper and Parmesan I ate the risotto
I think they are trying very hard but need more...

I booked this for a birthday celebration - when we arrived we were seated and then the waitress promptly forgot we existed. Now perhaps she was waiting for our third party to arrive - eventually we went back to ask for some service. We gave her our appetizer requests, wine choice and asked for water. It took some time for... more
The food was bland. The service was bland. The air conditioning set on FREEZING. And the prices were over the top. A bottle of "ANTINORI PÈPPOLI CHIANTI CLASSICO" which runs $19.95 at the store came to $55.00 at the restaurant. A bottle of San Pelegrino which goes for $1.95 at the store, came to $7.95 at the restaurant. I'm ok... more
Tried out this place during Italian week and although it was super busy, the atmosphere was great. Service was friendly and like the other reviewer said, it was slow, but I was there during the festival and small places like this, packed the gills won't run smoothly with that number of guests. We were welcomed with some bruscetta which was... more
Just a couple of nights ago we decided to try Allegro Ristorante on Preston Street in Ottawa. It is a cute restaurant in the Italian district, and one which years ago, was a favourate of us. Unfortunately the restaurant was sold and, as often happens the quality went downhill. But, years later we gave it another try.
Well, it was,...

Food was ok, service was lacking and selection was not very good. We ordered a bottle of Tomassi and then a second bottle of which they were now out of. Need to readjust par lists.
Ate hear for the first time and won't be going back. While the restaurant is nice, relatively small and cozy we (4 of us) were generally not fond of the food. We came because of the positive revews we've heard and perhaps that raised our expectations. The best part of the meal was actually the free bruschetta that they offered.... more
The upstairs private room was reserved for a work party. The service was very slow and it appears that even though the restaurant expected our group of approximately 25 they were not prepared to accommodate us. After the orders were placed, it took over an hour for our meals to arrive....for sure the atmosphere was very relaxed and we did... more
Nice, quaint little place in Ottawa's Little Italy. Not really authentic italian though. My bf enjoyed the seafood Alfredo (I found the sauce a bit too heavy on butter). I ordered the veal cannelloni but didn't enjoy it so much, the meat seemed a bit dry and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can... The waitress was... more
This was a great Italian Restaurant that reminded me of the food we have had many times in Italy. The portions were extremely generous and the food was very tasty. The Caldo and Freddo Appetizer was absolutely amazing and Saltimbocca was delicious. The service was amazing from the server to the owner. Would highly recommend for all occassions.
Overall the food was OK. We had the Salsicie al Antonio and Gamberi Allegro. These were quite good. We then had the Linguine Pescatore and Pollo stuffed with cheese and spinach. They were both good but not great. None of the dishes really wowed me.
Service and ambiance was very good.
Would I come back. Probably not but try it...

After looking at reviews on here. I booked at Allegro for my fiancee and I for valentines day. Its a very small place with lots of charm. Unfortunately they didnt have my reservation which left me a little annoyed. However, without fuss they seated us promptly and apologized for the mistake. A friendly and knowledgeable waiter came to our table.... more
Quaint small Italian restaurant in the heart of "Little Italy". All food is home-made by an excellent chef. Servings are not small, nor huge, but just right.Service is excellent. Waiters are very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list.Prices are very good for the quality of meal provided, ranging from about $12.95 to $2495. There is also a very nice lunch menu. This restaurant is a real find. The food is superb, yet incredibly reasonable in price. They serve Italian fare and have a very large menu to choose fom. My favourite is the veal. The service is always excellent. It is also a very romantic setting. Each time I visit, I am rewarded for my choice of restaurants.
We dine at Allegro regularly, about once every 2 months. It is always a pleasant experience. The waiter remembers us and even what we like. The restaurant is small and intimate. The seabass is the best we can find anywhere. The wine list is perfect. We highly recommend it.
Their Italian Wedding soup is to die for ! Attentive staff and great Italian food, what 's not to love!!!
Saturday night, 7:30 reservations made at 2:30 that day. Turned out that we had nine in our party and that was accommodated. Decent wine selection. The Inslata Caprese, not on the menu, was heavy on the balsamic and light on the basil. Veal Ossu Buco was very good. Substituted teh roasted peppers for penne arabiata. I should have stuck with... more
I had dinner there last night with a close friend, it was our fist time there so we did not know what to expect. I was there last Saturday night as date night with my wife and I must say we loved it.... food and service was perfect and it's hard to find that in Ottawa. It was a nice classy restaurant so I expected it to be expensive but well worth every penny. I would have to say only negative thing the Decore... more
We were visiting Ottawa, and went between Christmas and New Year, so it was very quiet, but this was an advantage because we had superb service. The waiter was extremely helpful, and arranged for a different pasta and sauce to go with the langoustine, which complimented it much better.
The menu is much more varied that one would expect from...

We recently visited this establishment as a group. The service was generally quite good, as was the menu and the food. They have an extensive and impressive wine list. Good Italian food. Only one negative of the evening -- they do not accept interac. There should be no restaurant (certainly not one like this) that doesn't have debit payment option.... more
best pasta with shrimp and gorgonzola
Great authentic Italian ... so authentic you feel like you're about to get "whacked".
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Ottawa. It has a very classic Italian menu, and the food and service is fantastic.
Best restaurant I've been to in Ottawa for a long time.
Allegro Ristorante offers these services: banquets, salles, réception.
Only minutes from downtown, this two-story restaurant stands in the heart of Little Italy. Rich in veal and pasta dishes, the traditional Italian menu's big draws are its "catch of the day" and the ever-changing chef's specials, as well as its impressive wine list. On weekdays the restaurant offers a lunch menu, while on weekends and evenings its romantic elegance appeals to many couples. An... more
