Shake your caboose to "up-and-coming" "local bands" at this "classic" Downtown pub, "popular" with the "after-work" crowd for its "rockin'" tunes, "cosy" space and "decently priced" brewskis (including "casks" of craft beer); while it's a bit "small", "good vibes" and a "relaxed" atmosphere make it a "cool place."

Paying homage to CPR days gone by, the Railway Club is well-worn and shaped like two train cars. Sing along with the acts playing to the front section, then wander back to the “cabooze” for one of the many microbrews on tap Crowd Earnest fans of local music groups On stage Soon-to-be-famous rock, folk, country, and blues bands like Empire Alley, Rat Silo, the Rootless Mayhem Band, and Lions in... more

After dark, sign in or pay a year's bargain price for member discounts at the unmissable club that launched k.d. lang. A three-roomed potential circus (plus balcony) that clings like a tumbledown lover to a thriving scene of musicians. barflies and bon vivants. Sip dangerously addictive espresso martinis at brass-rail side bar, check out the toy train circling the ceiling, rub shoulders with... more

Great Place
April 25, 2014

Spent alot of time in Vacouver over the years and love this place. Great live music but the only thing I would say is some of those bar staff, I think the one called Jennifer especially, is really unfriendly but don't think she is there any more. Seems to be some new bar staff now and they seem much nicer... more

Been here many times over the years and was always the best service and best entertainment. The staff were super awesome, and WHERE DID THEY ALL GO??? Most of all miss all the regular bartenders, all of whom seem to be gone - new bartender was unfriendly and incompetent!! Last visit was such a disappointment - out of stock of... more

Old school bar and bands
January 26, 2014

An odd little throwback to a different time (the vibe is 1970s for the most part - the crowd are mostly 30/40 plus). Nothing fancy - tables and chairs and live music.
Strangely, by design or by accident, the far end of the bar remains unaffected by the volume of the live music at the opposite end. There is a... more

For decades, The Railway Club, a small, second-floor downtown club has been home to famous performers playing everything from folk and country to jazz and rockabilly. The front room is the most intimate, while the corner room, separated by a long bar, has a more relaxed air. Drop in to catch up on the latest music and the hottest night scene around town.

Subtly lit and with pub-like ambience, this intimate club is a great Vancouver equalizer, welcoming folks of all interests, backgrounds and likes. Comfortably worn after 70 years of service, the Railway Club is one of those places that just feels good when you enter. Early in the evening, it invites socializing; after 8pm, bands take to the stage, and the place gets added character, courtesy of... more
