Gel Nails vs Powdered Gel Nails

I went to Queens Nails to get a full set of gel nails done. I am very aware about the differences between Gel Nails and Acrylic, as I am a certified aesthetician, and I do nails myself. And I am certain, that the nail tech gave me acrylic. Even questioning the fact, that I am getting acrylic, as the brush is applied into a liquid then into powder...they were very insistant that they were "Powdered Gels" and they were stronger and better. I just wanted people to know, and just to be aware when they go....that they know what they are getting! Make sure you are getting what you are paying for!
Please read below for the differences:

- First you need to ascertain if you are indeed getting REAL uv gels. REAL UV Gels have NO POWDER. If any powder at all is used, they are NOT UV Gels.

- Primer is NOT USED with UV Gels. Either a gel bonder or a protein bonder. NEVER a primer.

- Both UV Gels & "Acrylic" are in fact "Acrylic" HOWEVER they are not applied the same way. Also, there exists only ONE kind of powder: Acrylic. There is no such thing as 'uv gel powder' UV Gel is a gel thick in viscosity like hair gel, applied to the nail in 2-3 coats, then a gloss sealer. All cured under the UV lamp. 'Acrylic' is applied by dipping a brush into liquid, then into a powder to create a ball on the brush, then patted onto the nail.

- The gel should not be chipping off IF they are REAL UV GELS.

- A common scam of NSS is to offer UV Gel at a higher price and claim their are stronger/better.
They aren't. Neither is better than the other. Each has it's own strengths and weaknesses.
