Locals pack this Point Grey locale, golden as Charentais melons, that offers haute cuisine without the prices or pretense. The afternoon Grand Thé is a treat; at dinner it’s hard to move beyond those intensely flavoured antipasti (but do, and try the Arctic char, $28, or chicken Provençal, $26). The lemon tart ($7) is a city classic. Chef Essex Balace extracts every ounce of flavour from fresh,... more

We stumbled upon this perfectly traditional french gem early Saturday evening. We were looking for a Restaurant after Mass. We were dressed quite casually and had no reservation. Most restaurants of this caliber would have turned our party of 6 away. They were so gracious and accomodating. There were a number of "mature" patrons who were clearly regulars. My only concern was the noise level. The restaurant was full and the noise was so loud that it was difficult to hear my friends (there were 4 at our table) talk. The conversation (even with the person next to me) was an effort and not relaxing or enjoyable at all; we all complained about this afterwards. It would be great if there could be someway of absorbing the sound a little as otherwise... more

Great food, but can be pricy at times. Overall a very enjoyable evening.

Went for a bite in the middle of the afternoon. Beautiful place. Ambiance was not an issue since we were alone in the place. Very nice staff, good looking and well dressed. And the food was soooo good. My taste buds still dream of the fish soup.

Start with warm goat cheese crusted with herbs and served on organic greens and cold gazpacho. Entrees include pissaladiere, curried eggplant, artichokes and squid, and roasted tomato with bocconcini. Pre-packaged picnics complete with a... more
