This family-run restaurant, serving Vietnamese and Cambodian cuisine, is a perennial contender for, and occasional recipient of, the Vancouver magazine award for the city's best Asian restaurant. Khmer dolls are suspended in glass cases, and the subdued lighting is a welcome departure from the harsh glare often found in inexpensive Chinatown restaurants. Try the hot-and-sour soup with prawns... more

Every restaurant boasts a signature dish; Phnom Penh has two: spicy garlic squid and deep-fried chicken wings. Lightly battered, they're cooked to a perfect crisp and served with tangy lime-pepper dipping sauce. These insanely irresistible morsels have earned plaudits from Anthony Bourdain and Julia Child. Melt-in-your-mouth butter beef sees thin slices barely kissed with a sear then artfully... more

The restaurant describes itself as Cambodian-Vietnamese – two cuisines which will have much in common given the geographic proximity of the two countries. (The food from Laos and parts of Thailand are similar as well). The Khmer (Cambodian) and Vietnamese names of many dishes are often phonetically identical.

Much of the cuisine in this region all have certain elements in common – the use of... more

I knew that Vancouver was a foodie's heaven and dining at this Cambodian and Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown during my trip was hands down one of the best places that I've ever had a meal at!

My husband and I came here with 3 other friends on a Sunday night and it was about a 1.5 hours wait - brutal but after having the food here, it was worth being hangry for! Yes, the long wait is crazy... more

What can I say, other than the long line up this place is near perfect. Great food at a reasonable price. The friend chicken, hot and sour shrimp soup and luc luv beef on rice are must. If you ordered a rice dish make sure you ask for the free broth that comes with it.

I have always known the hype surrounding this place but never got to go until recently. The food lives up to the hype! I was so unbelievable happy and satisfied.

My family ordered the famous butter beef and chicken wings. On top of that we got the dry egg noodle dish and a lemongrass chicken rice dish. My favorites were the butter beef and the dry egg noodle. The egg noodle reminded me of a... more

The secret is out in Vancouver and locals and visitors alike are lining up for Phnom Penh's Cambodian and Vietnamese goods. This restaurant calls the East Side home and has a following that's obvious from the line-up. The deep fried chicken wings are a masterpiece. The light and crispy... more

Located in the suburbs, this popular spot offers a blend of Cambodian and Vietnamese cuisine. That blend has earned this restaurant top honor with local critics and even the esteemed chef Julia Child. Some recommended dishes include Carpaccio-Thin Beef with Fish Sauce and Hot-and-Sour Soup. The dessert menu is also a standout. Images of ancient Cambodian life fill the walls.
