This place feels like a family restaurant, even though a lot of the people here actually aren't families. Good pancakes though, but that definite family vibe.
Phil's restaurant is in line with Smitty's or Denny's for the type of atmosphere and quality of food. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but giving an expectation of what it's like. The feeling of being in here for coffee and pancakes in the morning (and they make good pancakes) is very welcoming. It's an affordable restaurant that's really good for families, because they have a kids menu with smaller portions and a fun activity menu for them too. I think this is where I'll go this morning! :)
Arrived at 1030, order taken at 1038 and food arrived at 1115. Waitress service was as good as it can get with the place being busy. Ordered the usual breakfast type meal. However, had to send back the scrambled eggs as they looked grey and the pancakes were cool on one of the plates.
Went for supper and service was ok, the food was ok with large portions but they didn't have any dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries. Was concerned that the dishes with mayonnaise in them may not be safe to eat. My plate was full of gravy on the side and bottom so I know it was resting on someone... more
As a prior review stated, this place is consistent... The service is great, the waitress greets you with 'hello, Hun.. how'd you like a booth' and the food is consistently good.
If you're okay with the greasy spoon decor, you'll not be disappointed with the consistent menu, food and service.
