Celebrating our 25th Anniversary year, Paupers has been in the Annex serving cold pints and great food to the community. Our burgers are home made and we sell a ton! Amazing specials every day including our most famous half price starters from 3-6pm daily! A beautiful second floor for private bookings and live music and in the summer....our amazing rooftop patio.

One of the Madison buildings, this century-old building was once a CIBC branch, but has since been transformed into something with real value: a three floor pub with 2 patios, one ground-level, and another on the roof-top.

Paupers is located at 539 Bloor Street West, just east of Bathurst Street. This century old building was once home to a branch of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. It has now been converted into a three floor pub with a warm atmosphere. The Main Bar is located on the ground floor with access to a street level patio aptly named Paupers ... more

HUGE Patio!

This is a pretty cool pub. The food is, well, pub food, but good pub food. My favotire thing about Pauper's is the HUGE rooftop patio! I LOVE patio season and there's usually seats available on the Pauper's patio.

Less rowdy than the Brunny, more square footage per person than the Madison, historic Paupers is tops for happy hour amongst Annex locals. In winter, students and profs may watch the game among the red velvet banquettes (or discuss the election-whatever comes first). In summer, sun tanning amongst the graphic T's and flip flops well into the night over a pitcher of Keiths is mandatory.

Came here on a Friday after work hours and was glad that this place wasn't too packed. We were on the ground-floor patio split among 3 tables, since our party was fairly large. The half-price starters from 3-6pm were great to split. Sweet potato fries were definitely the best in our opinion. The rest of their menu didn't seem that exciting or special though.

Service was great and I'll probably... more

In a building that used to be a bank is now a cozy pub. Walk in and there will be no one to greet the guests, allowed to choose any open table to sit down at. The decoration was a mix between a family style restaurant and a sports bar. It had a very homey and comfortable feeling to it. First glance at the menu and nothing seemed to eye catching.

Went with the stuffed burger which comes with a... more

I usually end up at Paupers only because it's located in a good spot. While there's nothing ostensibly wrong with it, I can't say anything about the food has ever really jumped out at me. And I've had experiences with really awesome service, but I've had just a couple more experiences where the service was pretty slow and inattentive. It always seemed to be under-staffing, but who knows?

This three-level pub just east of Bathurst Street boasts both a ground-level and a roof-top patio. If you’re looking to people-watch and get some shade, stay on the ground. But, if you’d prefer the Toronto skyline as a backdrop, head upstairs. With a variety of domestic, import and premium beers, Pauper’s offers plenty of choice for the discerning beer drinker, and their daily half-price dinner... more
