I went to the Main St. location. I was offered a coffee and a newspaper, but beyond that, I was very unimpressed with their performance (and really, I go to an oil change place for car service, not for a free coffee). The "technician" asked me how many cylinders my car had, and what kind of oil it takes. My car is a Honda Accord, not some strange unknown make! I told him I was pretty sure that it was 4 cylinders, but that I could check my manual to be sure, since he actually didn't have a clue (and I am by no means a car expert). He actually yelled across the service bay, asking another technician "Hey! Do you know anything about engines!? I don't know engines!" Now at this point, I should have backed right out of the place, but he already had my oil cap off, and to be honest, I don't know how to put it back on! So, after about 10 minutes he finally figured out how many cylinders my car had, and what type of oil to put in it. He managed to complete the oil change without any noticeable problems. I did, however, notice on the computer screen that I had apparently "declined" having my fluids checked, windows washed, and door hinges lubed. I said, "excuse me, I did NOT decline those services. You did not even offer them, so how would I have declined them?" He laughed it off and replied something along the lines of "oh ok, hold on, I'll do that for you now"...what's with trying to pull that over on me!? Those are complimentary services that are supposed to be offered during every oil change, yet he was trying to scam his way out of doing them. I paid, got out of there, and was told to save my receipt to get a free oil top-up at any Mr.Lube location. Since I was on a cross-country roadtrip, this was useful information. Or so I thought...
Well, I should have known better from my first gong show experience, but I went to another Mr.Lube location, this time in Winnipeg...the "technician" did the top-up surprisingly quickly, and said, "ok, I threw a litre in, you're good to go!" On the way out of the place I thought to myself that a litre seemed like way too much, since I check my oil regularly, and am aware of how much my car goes through. Well, my second mistake was not turning around and going straight back to the Winnipeg location. About 10 min later, I started smelling an awful sulfur smell. I figured that perhaps the guy was sloppy and had spilled on my car, or something like that. Well, about an hour later, my car started chugging out on the highway. I pulled into a Petro Can service place, and sure enough, I was overfilled by nearly A LITRE AND A HALF, and my catalytic converter was clogged up with oil. I am now stuck with service work that I never would have had to do without the horrible work from Mr.Lube.
If a place specializes in nothing but LUBING, how can they possibly screw up so much?! It's not brain surgery!! It's oil changing!!! And really, the guy yelling that he knew nothing about engines WHILE BEING UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR really left a bad taste in my mouth. Needless to say, I will never be back to a Mr.Lube location ever again. I will also caution everyone I know against going there.
Bottom line: Mr.Lube sucks! Go elsewhere!
The worst experience ever! I went to get an oil change, and they recommended to rotate tires so they did. As soon as I started to drive my car, I noticed something wrong with the left front tire making strange noise. I was so nervous that I returned to the shop and explained what's going on. The manager couldn't hear any noises from outside. I asked him to drive or sit inside to hear and feel... more
Had my oil change done. Cost was on point, however upon asking them about changing the fuel filter they said it would cost 90$. I knew right away it was a ridiculous price to charge. My filter for my truck is at lordco of 12$. It's relatively simple and fast to replace. 90$ yaaaah right!
Also I was told when arriving that it was on first come first serve basis. Fine, i said. Not the first time... more
I was in the line up and decided to check Yelp reviews fit this Mr Lube. I started to freak out a bit because of the poor reviews.
I decided to go ahead anyway and have my oil changed.
So a bit on the expensive side, apparently my vehicle didn't qualify for the standard package and I had to go up one package.
Other than that, the guys were professional
On the plus side i got was given a... more
