Staff is the best!

Best burger in town and the nicest staff! Always great food, good service. Yes it's pricey but worth it! Fresh ingredients, comfortable, clean restaurant. Love it! A+++

Pretentious, overpriced and terrible service

This restaurant has really gone in the wrong direction in terms of service and quality since they've first opened. The first three times were great experiences, both in food quality and service, which is why they get two stars. Plus their washrooms are still spotless.

The last visit to Motor Burger was such a polar opposite event of previous experiences that I was shocked by the rudeness and pretention of the staff, the ever-decreasing portion size and quality of the food, and the overall general hype which is unfounded. Allow me to further elaborate...

We were a party of 10 that had made a reservation for a friend's birthday. We were ushered to a large table at the back of the restaurant by a surly and grim-faced waitress who seemed as if she could have cared less to be working there.

We waited nearly fifteen (15) minutes to be served, my brother and I almost walking out before we were served two large glasses of water for the table and the waitress finally took our drink order. When my pint of Blanche de Chambly arrived, it was warm and $7.00, $1.50 more expensive than it was 2 months previously! Five minutes later when the waitress returned and I informed her of this,. she said coldly that nothing could be done about it.

I ordered the Lambourghini burger which was made of ground lamb, as well as the deep-fried pickles as an appetizer. Thirty minutes later, both show up at the table at the same time. Wow! The portions had shrunk dramatically while the price remained the same! One of the pickles was actually over-cooked and almost burned, and the burger, which was supercharged and therefore two patties, was a lot smaller than I remembered.

We ate our meals, all of us disappointed, in silence. Not once did the waitress ask us how our meal was, which is very unprofessional. As soon as each person had finished, their plates were cleared, indicating that they wanted us to hurry up and hit the road, which is also very snooty and unprofessional. When it came time to pay the bill, I paid in cash. The waitress had the gall to ask if I wanted change, which I replied "Of course, the service here leaves a lot to be desired." I ended up tipping her $5 from a $38 tab, which I thought was generous.

It's not good business etiquette to poorly treat and serve a table of 10 when each person can potentially earn a good server $5. $5 x 10 people = $50 in tips. I'm not a Ph D., and even I can figure that out!

It would appear that now they are starting a "nano-brewery" which they brew beers on the premesis. They plan on charging $7 a pint when the cost of making it is significantly lower than that. That is the same price that other pubs charge for a pint of imported brew such as Guinness or Harp.

After this disappointing experience, I am inclined to hold on to the memory of what Motor Burger used to be, and never to again go back. It would take more than some fancy brew to intice me back there. The only way I would return is if someone else was paying.

In conclusion, I would recommend that this restaurant be avoided at all costs, and that potential customers go instead to the Burger Joint. It is located on Ottawa and Hall, a few blocks south. There you can enjoy an old-fashioned hamburger, fries and a beer for under $20, be welcomed with a smile when you enter, and avoid the unfounded pretention that is all too common on Erie Street.

Very good

My husband and I both love burgers so we had to try Motor Burger after all the talk. We really enjoyed it. We were expecting a long wait but we didn't have one. Service was great and the motor fries were delicious. Our only complaint was the drink prices.

Great Food

The food is awesome! The best Sweet Potato Fries anywhere! If you go in the late afternoon/early evening, I thought the music was too loud for the restaurant, and didn't like their choice of music, not sure if that's always the same... But a great place to meet a friend for something different! An upscale burger place.

Really enjoyed it

Having heard how great Motor Burger is from colleagues, friends and the 'Net, we decided to take my in-laws here this week. The decor was fun, the place was packed, and the vibe was good. We did notice the noise was a bit louder than we needed...certainly the seniors found it too loud.
We all really enjoyed our food choices.... more
