Use extreme caution with this "general contractor"

Moda Renovation is only a trade name; the legal entity is actually a numbered company for liability purposes. If you are entering into a contract with this entity make sure that you know who you are contracting with and be sure to get a written contract.

The principal of Moda Renovation, Vito De Caria, has admitted that he is not a general contractor and that he has no knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Plumbing Code or Electrical Code. He has also admitted that he has no knowledge of the qualifications of the sub-contractors who he uses to perform roofing, plumbing, and electrical work. Make sure that you inquire whether all necessary building permits from the City of Ottawa, and Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) approvals, have been, or will be, obtained for renovation work on your home. You will likely find that Moda Renovation is not interested in obtaining the necessary permits.

If you are approached by Vito De Caria or another representative of Moda Renovation, and you decide to hire Moda Renovation despite this warning, be prepared for a whole host of potential problems which may require any number of real contractors and subcontractors to remedy!
