If you want to get a feel for Canadian art, this is the place to go! The permanent collection is devoted primarily to the artists known as the Group of Seven (there were actually a few more than seven of them), six of whom are buried on the grounds. Last weekend we were in Kleinberg and decided to finally visit this gallery to see famous Group of Seven paintings. We love outdoors and visited many places in Killarney and Algonquin parks were the Group of Seven panted their landscapes. Well, we were disappointed with the collection, I am not really an art connoisseur, but to me most of the painting looked mediocre. Only the last two halls... more

Hallelujah, the McMichael now permits personal non-flash photography in three of its permanent display galleries. It joins the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, and the National Gallery in Ottawa in reversing such antiquated policies. Thank you.
