This spot, at the bottom of Breakneck Stairs and perched overlooking the pedestrian-only rue du Petit-Champlain, sits where the streets are awash with day-trippers and shutterbugs. It serves what many consider to be the best seafood in town. The menu changes often, so look closely at the long list of specials posted on chalkboards. I tried the dish that is supposed to be their signature dish - the fish stew. I'm not sure what the fish was but it was not any one of the three that the waitress mentioned. The texture of the fish was rubbery and had a definite ammonia smell and aftertaste to it. They were gracious and took back the dish and allowed me to order something else. My wife & I had dinner at Le Marie-Clarisse during early August, 2003 and were delighted. I'm not a seafood enthusiast (unfortunately), but my Tilapia was excellent! It was perfectly prepared, delicate & enhanced with a slightly sweet sauce. The staff was courteous, knowledgeable and informative, and the ambiance superb. Nous avons décidé d'aller souper à ce restaurant après avoir consulté le site internet dans lequel on trouve une table hôte très intéressante. Sur place surprise, la majorité des éléments du site internet ne sont pas présure dans leur menu. On nous propose du poisson frais, mais après avoir pris notre commande, on vient nous annoncer qu'il n'en reste pas pour tout le monde. Et cela continue... more
