Macklam's serviced our chimney in 2008 after a referral from a neighbour. Each year they have called to check in, in October. This year we were looking to service again, and I was trepid to call after the seeing the reviews on here. After having no luck with other companies, I did call when I saw they had called us. From start to finish, they were very professional. Confirmed the appt a few days before. 10 minutes early. Cleaned up the area. Very personable. I really am amazed at these reviews, as we have not had a bad experience either time.
Definitely consider taking your business elsewhere. We also had an appointment schelduled weeks in advance. A week before they called to say that an earlier spot opened up and we took it since it was more convienent. There was a follow-up call on their part and we confirmed date and time.... MackLames were a NO SHOW.... no call, nothing. Brutal customer service --- more like it's none existent = NO customer service. A week later, I left a message saying I wasn't pleased and for them not to even think they'd be coming on the original date we booked; we didn't want them workin in our home (got a call the night before asking if we sure!?!?!)
Take your business somewhere else. We booked an appointment with three weeks in advance. Took the time off work to be there for the repair. Called the company the night before to confirm the time and they explained that they weren't coming cause their repairman had been out with a back injury for two weeks. No courtesy call, no apology = brutal customer service!
