I was in St. John on a cruise and walked up the road to visit this house. $5 admittance fee. Guide (Ron?) was excellent and provided a lot of information.
Worth a visit.

The Loyalist house at the heart of the city is a Georgian structure built in the year 1817. The house belonged to the Merritt family and in 1959 was acquired by New Brunswick Historical Society. A visit to the house would take you through the elegant decor of the house designed by local artisans. Open hours vary seasonally.
One of the few surviving buildings of the Great Fire of 1877, the Loyalist House serves as a proud reminder of Saint John's British Loyalist heritage
