The Lord Nelson was built in 1928, and was for years the city's preeminent lodging. It gradually sank in esteem, however, and somehow eventually ended up as a flophouse. Expensive, cancellations must be made the day before, pay at check in (who does this?), doorman doesn't hail cabs or help with luggage, room service unable to accommodate requests, nice decor but bath has old mildew stains. For $300 a night, there must be a better option in Halifax? And check out Yelp's "Not Recommended" reviews on this place. Poor customer service seems to be their stock in... more
I decided to stay here because the price was right, as was the location -- and I had a fabulous experience. The room was very nice and clean, and the TV worked well, as did the air condition.
