Argo is a tiny bookshop that is well-curated and full of excellent titles. Their staff is very knowledgable, friendly, patient, and will happily order something for you.
Argo is definitely worth a trip downtown to visit one of Montreal's most charming older bookshops.
I happened to stumble across this little hole-in-the-wall shop while I was walking down St. Catherines. The owner was so friendly and welcoming. She had great book recommendations and even gave tips on what else to explore in the area. A few regulars stopped by, which gave the place a great sense of community. I've been here three times: once in the mid 1970's, once in the mid-90's, and again just now. The tiniest of bookstores still has an excellent curated collection (we were impressed with finding nifty things in only three shelves of children's books), two comfy chairs to sit down in, not enough room to swing a cat in (dead or alive), and a friendly proprietor (albeit a different one now).
