The restaurant itself has a cosy atmosphere. We went during lunch time and there were only couple of tables. I tried st Jacques and shrimps gratin which was above expectations.
This was recommended to me by the concierge at my hotel. I needed good warming food having flown in from England that afternoon. The food was good (although If I were to nit pick the bordelaise sauce was a little acrid and the mash was lumpy) and the waitress charming and very efficient. Le Trou Normand always seems to get good, but not great ratings, and is thus, in my opinion, vastly underrated. Everything about our meal there this evening was very pleasant, and the food (Coquilles St.-Jacques Medaillons de veau) was as good as that of any Toronto French restaurant. It has been there for 30 years, and may it remain for another 30.
