This charmingly intimate French restaurant located in a century-old house celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2009. It's always been a place for special occasions and celebrations, and with food and wine of this caliber, there's a lot to celebrate. The food is classical French -- but with inventive overtones and underpinnings. Try one of the tasting menus with wine pairings, and you won't regret... more

This quaint two-storey Victorian, complete with daffodil-coloured walls and cosy fireplace, just improves with age. Choose from one of Canada’s most extensive wine collections (more than 35,000 bottles and counting) or let owner Manuel Ferreira and sommelier Adam Rennick suggest one of many by-the-glass offerings. Chef Rob Guest’s fresh B.C. halibut ($25) sings with smoky Viognier Van Westen... more

Two of us went for dinner.

Before dinner really began, we moved tables once (of our own accord) and then when an even better table was available, the server asked if we would like to move and we did. It was an excellent suggestion on her part. The service was outstanding, humour was included, the food was absolutely delicious (we had the rack of lamb and beef tenderloin and both were just... more

One waitress seemed experienced, the other not.The sparkling water was made on site (terrible) and the staff alternately refilled our glasses with self-sparkling water and tap water (worse). The first wine we ordered was out of stock. We had ceasar salad made at the table with very little parmesan, asked for cheese and got a tad more. Both tenderloins, ordered medium, were well done, one burned.... more

Excellent restaurant with romantic ambience. Enjoyed Chef's menu featuring local food. The salmon was done perfectly, portion size was just right. The wine list was extensive. I would recommend Le Gavroche for the food, ambience and great value.

Good place to have a romantic meal with your beloved. However, the small table I had right beside the window seems not sitting on a flat floor.

Located in a refurbished three-story Victorian home, this elegant French restaurant is named after a street. The intimate interior features a lowly lit dining room, wood-burning fireplace and oak flooring. The views of Coal Harbour and contrasting white linen tablecloths make it a dramatic space. Try the Smoked Sable-fish with Chervil and Red Wine Butter for a main course. Check website for... more

Traditional French cuisine with an interesting contemporary twist defines the menu at this romantic West End restaurant. Start with the fresh foie gras with endive, apples and raisin marmalade and follow with the poached smoked Alaskan cod in burnt orange sauce and anise coulis, grilled pork tenderloin with Calvados and Stilton sauce, or the Thai curry lobster. The dessert specialty is the... more

Located in a refurbished three-storey Victorian home, this elegant French restaurant is named after the street urchin in \'Les Miserables\'. The intimate interior features a lowly lit dining room, wood-burning fireplace and oak flooring. The views of Coal Harbour and contrasting white linen tablecloths make it a dramatic space.
