Super high end chinese cuisine. Don't expect to leave without $40 pp (e.g. cantonese chow mein is $26 when it's normally $6 to 8 at food court or average chinese eatery). But you do get special dim sum not offered at your average restaurant. Tea is really good. Go for the experience if you can.
"Deluxe", "carefully prepared" Chinese dishes, including "the best" dim sum "outside of Hong Kong", are "delivered with finesse" by servers "helpful in navigating the extensive menu" at this "luxurious high-ceilinged" "destination" in Downtown's Metropolitan Hotel; sure, it's on the "pricey side", but those looking to "treat guests" say it's "well worth going."
This is one hotel dining room where you'll find more locals than visitors. The interior is vintage Art Deco; spare pictograms dominate the walls of the two-level space. The extensive menu is mainly Cantonese, and regulars come for the excellent Peking duck, dim sum (especially the Sunday brunch tasting menu), and delicacies such as alligator loin dumplings. There's a midtown location, too: Lai... more
Not sure why not higher rated but I took a friend here for one of the traditional prix fixe menus and thought it was excellent. True, it's not the style of dim sum where they bring the carts around (and it's not inexpensive) but I thought it was money well-spent and intend to go back next time I'm in Toronto.
If you are looking for more fusion dim sum, this is the right place for you. Really love the foie gras tart, the lobster dumpling is pretty good. Didn't like the turnip cake and caviar dumpling as much. Ordered the deep fry veg bean curd roll that's really good too forgot to attach the picture here. The truffle chicken dumplings were okay.
It's a little pricy compare with other dim sum...

This is the best restaurant ever even though I spent $100.00 on a plate of rice. It was really good. Except for the rat tails that were (apparently) added to the dish at no extra cost.
The wine was really poor quaility, runny and watery.
But, this is still the best restaurant in Toronto if you're looking for the worst.
I am doing a project on Restaurants in Toronto and Chose Lai Wah Heen and was wondering if youv'e been there if you could tell me what they offer and some roguh prices, thanks all help is appreciated.
