No self-respecting ice-cream fiend could possibly pass up a visit to La Casa Gelato, where ice-cream lovers gather for a taste of one or more of the 198 flavors in store. Of course you don't get that many flavors by simply serving up chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. How about garlic, lavender, durian, basil, or hot chile ice cream, or pear with Gorgonzola sorbet? With 508 flavours at last count, and over 220 ready-to-scoop in store every day, owner Vince Misceo delivers on selection, hands down. This may not be the place for gelato purists (flavours like durian and pear with gorgonzola are on offer) but it’s an experience. Gelato cakes are available in up to two flavours and start from $24.95.

January 21, 2011Great place for Gelato. More flavour choices than anyone, and it is always good. Can be a little busy though, so you have to make sure you get served at your turn or someone will get in front of you.

Best selection. However, prices went up recently (a double scoop was about 3.50, now $5!). There are some places nearby on commercial drive with few choices but better value for the price/quantity.
