I started going here when I was younger because it was affordable and seemed decent at the time.
As I got older I had moved on to full service salons where I could get esthetic services as well. I was happy at my new salon but was spending way too much money. So I decided to go to Jason to get my layers trimmed up for my vacation. I had only received one bad haircut from him. One mistake, I could give him another chance right?
The cut was terrible. I had to get it fixed the moment I stepped off the plane during my holidays. The stylist who fixed it said it looked like I did it myself. Also in the back it looked like a patch was missing. I was so sad.
During my cut Jason was telling me how busy he was all day...so many clients and people know where to go to get their hair straightened. I have gotten my hair straightened here and it was ok. Kaen Salon is way better and my hair was a lot healthier when I left. Their salon was nicer, more organized and the price was better too! (I get my hair straightened once a year).
My first bad haircut a while back went like this: I brought in a picture and I asked: will my hair texture work with this cut. He said YES! After the cut he said: your hair is so straight it won't look like this style. DUH: you straightened it!
Fool me once: shame on you
Fool me twice: shame on ME!!!
I learned my lesson and will never go back and I hope to save other women as well.
Young girls out there: The condition of your hair way more important than style as you get older. Be very careful where you get your hair straightened. There are safer chemicals out there so don't fry your hair to get it straight. Curly healthy hair looks better than straight dry hair.
I would have gave him no stars but that is not an option. Thank goodness for online reviews these days because it has helped me find my new salon! Also: what salon doesn't have a website these days? Jasons....
**They have moved to 3007 Cambie St**
I've been going to Jason for Japanese Ionic hair straightening since 2000, and I've never been disappointed. He charges about half of what all the other salons charge, and my hair turns out super shiny and perfectly straight. I've recommended him to everyone. They're not great at hair cutting though, and I've never tried their coloring. But for Japanese...

My hair: Frizzy with a lot of fly-aways. Shoulder length.
I love going to Jason's. He's straightened my hair 4 times now. The first a long time ago at a different location, the 2nd when he was on Granville and the 3rd + 4th at the Cambie location (which btw, looks great!; clean, friendly). He's done a great job every time and my hair has never felt like it was fried. I leave with straight,...

I've been to Tony and Guy and paid MUCH more for really awful service and a horrible cut!!! Jason's hair studio has proven to me they're masters of hair straightening and their cuts are beautiful.
