Despite some opening kinks, Chef Ikoma Kenjiro's effortless fusion of izakaya faves, French-inspired sauces and decidedly non-Japanese flavors - like icewine-marinated albacore tuna - merits a visit. Sashimi dishes are poetically plated, as are standouts Summer roll and deep-fried Alaska Crab Leg Roll. Decor was interesting, there is a tanuki near the entrance. Tonight, I tried the sashimi and nigri sushi and the presentation was good. The quality is above average and the taste is good. The service was slow at times, but overall I got my empty plates picked up and tea refilled. The price of the food is on the higher end, and is probably the biggest factor why I would not go more often.... more
