Average Food and Service

I visited Ichibankan Express when I was on an outing in the Broadway area. Ichibanan is conveniently located in a fairly busy area of Broadway. It has many competitors in the area but I always notice a fair number of people dining here when walking by, so I decided to give it a try. The selection was average as well as the menu. This is typical Japanese fast food, make no mistake. It is not a sit-down type of restaurant so you can not have high standards. Being well versed in Japanese culture and cuisine I wasn't horrified by the quality but I was not impressed. The prawn tempura wasn't that great and I felt I could have easily made my own much better. The rolls themselves look and tasted like they were made by amateurs. I kept in mind that the prices were significantly lower than that of a real restaurant, but I would have easily paid more money for better food. The service was average, the cashier actually had a difficult time understanding what I wanted to order. Otherwise, the service was quick but monotone. The facilities themselves are clean, except for the washroom which required a thorough cleaning. As far as the actual experience, I would only recommend this if there is nothing else close by and you absolutely must have some average sushi while on a tight budget. Otherwise you can walk less than 10 minutes in either direction and try something better and pay slightly more to have better food and service.
