In contrast to Hapa , this small basement restaurant, with a rather dramatic red-and-black interior, has served old-fashioned, straight-up sushi for more than 2 decades. Options for non–sushi-philes include tempura, teriyaki, udon, and soba noodles. Service is fast although not always attentive, but the restaurant is standard amongst the cheap sushi options in Vancouver.
Not only some of the worst sushi I've had in Vancouver, but some of the worst food I've had in Vancouver. I can understand the other reviewers negative comments about the atmosphere but this hole in the wall hide away is "natsukashi" of so many Japanese places in Tokyo it didn't bother us. They didn't have many customers and the elderly waiter was kind and we ordered a seafood okonimiyaki (it's like a Crepe topped with bonito, seaweed and seafood bits), and a lovely broiled black cod. Usually I am not too picky with food but the food I got here was definitely the worst I've ever had. The salmon in the salmon roll I ordered was not sashimi. It was basically the scraps of fat you have after cutting the sashimi. The salmon part of the roll looked white with specks of salmon sashimi in it.
