After reading some reviews of this hotel I was skeptical of how the quality of my stay would be. The neighborhood is not terribly dodgy, yes there are some homeless people but they don't bother anyone. There are always plenty of people around this area so safety is not at all an issue. We stayed at this hotel for a weekend and I found the area to be scary! You are right in the "entertainment" district and this is not the kind of entertainment I was interested in. At night it is very noisy and the sidewalks out front are dirty and littered. The room itself was clean but with an odd smell. mice infested with bugs don't stay here

This hotel is a public health hazard; mice are everywhere and bugs as well. Management is rude and unresponsive and will not assist or admit the terrible problems they have. Do not stay here!!
