Highstreet have helped me SO much over the last 2.5 years

When i first moved to Vancouver 2.5 yrs ago and didnt know anyone, had never been here before, and needed somewhere to stay until i had it figured out, it was Wendy Galati who came to my rescue, and she's been continueing to come to my rescue ever since! I was barely off the plane when i rang her up at Highstreet Corporate Rentals to ask if she had somehwhere i could stay temporarily, starting THAT VERY DAY (so absolutely no notice was given), and she sent one of her Highstreet girls immediately to come get me and take me to a beautiful one bed suite in Burnaby. I would have been totally screwed otherwise, and Wendy helped me out so much. Then last year when i needed accomodation for my family who were visiting, Wendy came to the rescue again with a stunning one bed suite in the heart of downtown vancouver. And last, but by no means least (!!) ... i very recently found myself in a terrible situation that needed rectifying immediately, in the form of somewhere for me to live on a longer term basis. Not easy considering my leg is currently broken in 3 places and i dont have a car or a partner to help me. I had almost given up hope, when it occurred to me that i should call Wendy ... and as always, it was the BEST decision i could possibly have made. Thanks to her, i am now living in an amazing fully furnished one bed suite downtown and can finally work on healing my leg. Every single time ive needed her, Wendy has been there for me like the guardian angel of accomodations, and i am eternally grateful!! Every time, the suites have been immaculate, decorated to a very high standard, and so fully furnished that i have not needed to buy a single thing. Highstreet's apartments are simply beautiful and ready to move into ... and i would recommend their services to anyone!

Why not to use HighStreet Corporate Rentals

Why not to use HighStreet Corporate Rentals. This is a high risk choice and I would be very cautious before deciding to use their service for rentals. Please read my story and then you make up your own mind about using HighStreet Corporate Rentals.
During the recession everyone need to figure out how to save on costs. I had purchased my apartment 4 yrs ago but the mortgage costs were killing me. I first thought of selling my apartment but my realtor (Rene Pantoja) could not sell for the price and told me to hold off for a while. I then decided to rent the apartment out and had a few interested parties at $1800.00. This would cover my mortgage and strata and also enable me to put a few extra against the mortgage.

Just before accepting a tenant my realtor (Rene Pantoja) called to see what I had decided and I told him I was going to rent for a while. He told me should use HighStreet Corporate Rentals (of course cause he gets a commission) and that they guarantee $2400 to $3000 a month. Of course I was very excited to hear this and he put me in contact with Wendy Galati ([email protected]) and gave me her number. I called Wendy Galati twice and left messages but never got a call back. I called Rene Pantoja and asked if he is sure this is the right choice as they don’t even return calls. Rene Pantoja said he would call HighStreet and make sure they call me back as they are the best. I finally got a call back from Wendy Galati and she asked a number of questions about the apartment and also scheduled a visit to discuss.
A week later Wendy Galati showed up and my first question was do I have any guarantee that the apartment will be rented. She said no but they have a 92% secured rental per year and that they have the exclusive Microsoft contract. Also she said that they are fully booked and have more people needing apartments than what they have to provide. She was certain that this apartment would be rented immediately. If fact she was very impressed with the quality and also the location being downtown Vancouver / Yale town. She said that they already have an apartment in the building which was doing very well.
After gathering details she said but to start we need to have a payment of $560 for a professional photo shoot and also $800 for linens. I would also have to buy certain pieces of furniture like a bar with four chairs, mattress, dishes etc…I was a little shocked at these upfront costs but again I went on what she was saying about 92% and Microsoft this and that. After a few days spent thinking about it I decided to take the chance but made one more phone call (three until I got hold of her) and asked Wendy if she was sure this would work as I have a lot on the line and what would be the worst case scenario that I could budget for. She said with certainty that I could set this at $2000 a month – worst case is what Wendy said.
Total starting cost:
$560 – to take photos
$800 for linens which you don’t get to keep when you take it back
$1000 for furniture
$120 for upgraded phone/cable/internet
$300 new insurance
$100 to change postal address

Total: $2880

I went to see Wendy at her office to complete the documentation and pay my “fee’s”. When I arrived she showed me around and introduced everyone. She showed me the laundry room etc… We sat at her desk and I asked her once again… are we sure this will work and that I will get minimum $2000 a month. She said I will show you some invoices of other customers. She shouted and he secretary arrived with an invoice showing $1600. She said this is a bad example and that this is an apartment in Surry or something. The worst part there was that she said don’t worry this would never happen to you as you are DT in a great location.

I handed the apartment over to them after spending $2880. During the first week of handing over the apartment I still had to sign some documents that were missed and sent them a VOID cheque. I waited a month but didn’t see any month deposited in my account and I got an invoicing me for the linens. I still had not received any deposit after a moth and two weeks. I had emailed them three times and called twice but still didn’t hear back. I was worried now and kept calling until finally I got through to Wendy. I asked her how it was going and casually she said ow yes, well we haven’t been able to rent it but we should have something for you in the next week. I was SHOCKED! Two months and my apartment was sitting empty. I asked her how this could be after everything she told me and all she could say was its slow… I asked what about fully booked and that they don’t have enough apartments to rent…? She avoided the question… I have a feeling that they didn’t even put my apartment on the map. The money I pad for the photos ($560) was never done. They hadn’t even been into the apartment to put the linens in that I had paid for. They just simply were holding it as stock and didn’t care about the costs I would incur.

Now two months later I am sitting with the cost of $2885 + $2000 + $2000 (lost income) + 3600 of my mortgage costs AND I had been renting for the past two months at $800 X2. TOTAL $12,085 and I still don’t know if they will rent my apartment this month.
I think I have made my point that I would rather have just rented it myself and save the upfront cost + you are in charge of what happening.

I am very disappointed and angry… what a mess. I hope what I went through will save you from the hardship.

Great experience

I have experienced very pleasant stay in Vancouver, actually I stayed in New Westminster. Very clean, beautiful 2 bedroom suite and the staff is very accommodating! Anything I needed or asked for was delivered right away. Great company with lots of inventory in the lower mainland with a great customer service. Would definitely recommend
