A short history on the 'Spirit of Kamloops' railtour
The Kamloops Heritage Railway began railtour operations on June 22, 2002 with the 'Spirit of Kamloops' railtour operating in July and August. There is a rich history with the railways in Kamloops dating back to the arrival of the first train in 1885. The restoration of the KHR 2141 and the start up of railtour operations provided a way to connect people with the heritage of our country. On the 'Spirit of Kamloops' railtour, the KHR features reenactments of railway operations as they were in the past including volunteers and staff in period uniforms punching tickets, picking up train orders using a message hoop and more. A significant part of railway history in Kamloops was a famous train robbery that took place just east of Kamloops at Ducks. In 1906, Bill Miner and his gang robbed a CPR train and made off with their very limited amount of loot. The reenactment of the Bill Miner Train Robbery is a big part of the entertainment on this trip, providing some exciting wild west horsemanship for the big finish to the journey.

Everyone at the heritage railway great job over the years sticking to it when others said we would fail. Look at what we got going now. Lets keep it up. Good Job everyone.
Great job by the tour guides in giving the free guided tours during Heritage Week. Job well done!
Kudos to these enthusiastic, hardworking volunteers. What a great and historically meaningful tourist attraction. More local residents should take the time to enjoy it.
It was the especially unique as Santa Claus visited each & every car, seeing all the lights in that area was pretty special.
For many years the 2411 engine sat in Riverside Park. Now it has been lovingly rebuilt by an army of volunteers. Open and closed cars have been added. Family-friendly specials include the adjacent Keg Restaurant, or Hallowe'en and Christmas events.
Foursome time (our) barbershop quartet performed on this train several times during the last few years. always a good time. well run and worth a visit.
